Chapter 512: Wife, I Was Wrong 4
’That woman is nice to everyone except me.’
’She probably won’t say no.’
’And then... he’d find a way to get her into bed and fuck her hard. As long as she gets pregnant with his child, that’s all that matters. If she won’t give him a baby, is *he* supposed to be the one to do it?’
’Once she has the baby, we’ll see if she still tries to run away, if she still acts up, if she’s still so damn fickle!’
’If she dares to cause trouble, he’ll just take the kid and run away from home!’
’Damn woman.’
Leona Grant didn’t dare to call. He was afraid she’d reject him outright, and then he wouldn’t even get to see her.
Having made up his mind, he stood up, grabbed his coat, and hurried out.
"President, about the upcoming meeting..."
Leona Grant waved his hand impatiently, walking out without a backward glance.
’A meeting? What meeting? He’d been in meetings for five straight days and hadn’t even seen his wife. Were they trying to work him to death?’
’...But weren’t you the one who called for all these meetings?’
Chase watched him leave, then crouched down to pick up the files. After stacking them on the desk, he chuckled in amusement. "What a character."
The moment he turned around, Leona Grant was standing right in front of him, a sinister look on his face as he picked up his car keys from the desk.
Chase: "..."
He swallowed nervously. ’President, my dear boss, didn’t you already leave...?’
The moral of this story is: don’t talk about people behind their backs.
Chase put on a sycophantic smile and hurriedly tried to smooth things over. "President, drive safely. Be careful, be careful..."
Leona Grant shot him a cold glare and strode out. "Ian Chase, consider your year-end bonus gone!"
Chase: "..."
’Is there any lightning?’
’Just strike me dead already!’
...
「Half an hour later.」
Leona Grant arrived at the villa.
He took a deep breath and got out of the car.
He had been thinking long and hard on the drive over.
’He wasn’t the one at fault here, but a gentleman doesn’t quarrel with a lady. He was only here to see her for Grandpa’s sake!’
’That’s right! That’s it exactly!’
’He wouldn’t lower himself to bickering with that woman. He was a man of good breeding, unlike her, who had just divorced him only to run off and marry another man in the blink of an eye.’
The thought filled Leona Grant with disgust.
’Tsk, tsk. Annabelle Linton, you should take a good look at yourself. Abandoning your husband to marry another man—how heartless can you be? And on top of that, I’m so generous and considerate, yet you still spent all day picking fights with me.’
’Where do you get the nerve?’
’Totally crazy.’
Leona Grant rolled his eyes and walked into the villa. Seeing Madam King, he asked, "The Young Madam has been home these past few days, right?"
’He already knew she was home; he just didn’t want anyone to know he’d been keeping tabs on her every day.’
"The Young Madam has been here..." Madam King started, then hesitated. After a moment, she added, "But..."
Before Madam King could finish, Leona Grant waved his hand impatiently. "Alright, alright, that’s enough. All of you, dismissed!"
’’But’ what? She was probably just going to say something like he shouldn’t come looking for her. And why shouldn’t he?’
’She was his wife. If he didn’t come looking for her, was some other man supposed to?’
Madam King glanced at him. Assuming he had only come to confirm that Annabelle Linton had been home, she didn’t dare say more and left with the other servants.
Leona Grant took a black velvet box from his pocket and opened it. Inside lay a pink diamond bracelet.
’He’d won it at an auction the day before. It was one-of-a-kind, and for some reason, he’d just felt it would suit Annabelle Linton, so he bought it.’
Leona Grant sighed to himself again. ’How could there possibly be a husband as good as him in this world?’
’And yet, some blind fool didn’t know how to cherish him.’
He pressed his lips together and went upstairs.
The bedroom door was shut tight. He gave it a push, but it didn’t open.
Leona Grant took a few deep breaths, then knocked lightly on the door a few times, trying to compose himself.
