The very thought of it made him furious.

He grabbed his phone and unlocked it. Seeing the screen, completely clean of any missed calls or messages, Leona Grant’s expression darkened.

He angrily threw the phone onto the desk. The more he thought about it, the more incensed he became.

CRASH!

He then swept all the documents on his desk onto the floor.

’This is outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!’

’She didn’t even try to find me. She won’t even give me an out. How am I supposed to go back to her now? How?!’

He refused to be the one to back down again. ’She hates me so much, so why should I go groveling to her like an idiot?’

But he had assumed she would come looking for him when she saw how angry he was. So he waited.

One day. Two days... Five days!

And in five whole days, that woman still hadn’t come to find him!

Leona Grant was fuming. He sat back down in his chair and viciously kicked the desk.

’If I’m the one to make the first move this time, then I’m a puppy. Puppy Grant!’

Watching the CEO, Chase knew he must have been fighting with his wife again.

For some reason, while the CEO was a business genius—a role model, even...

...when it came to emotional intelligence... well, forgive him for being blunt, but whenever the CEO and his wife had a problem, he always assumed it was the CEO’s fault.

It couldn’t be helped. The impression was just that deep-rooted.

Chase silently walked over to pick up the files. ’Am I lucky or unlucky to have a boss like this?’ he wondered.

RING—

The phone Leona Grant had thrown onto the desk started to ring.

Leona Grant hesitated for two seconds before snatching it up.

A flicker of disappointment crossed his eyes when he saw the caller ID.

Seeing his reaction, Chase knew it definitely wasn’t his wife calling.

"Grandpa."

Leona Grant said resignedly. His expression was grim, filled with pent-up anger that had nowhere to go.

’And here I thought it was her calling!’

’If it were anyone else, I would’ve blocked their number long ago. But this is Grandpa...’

Patrick Grant chuckled and said, "Leona, my boy, where’s Annabelle? Grandpa misses her. Has she recovered from her illness? How about you two come stay with us for a couple of days, starting tomorrow?"

Hearing this, the fire in Leona Grant’s eyes blazed even hotter.

The first thing he had done after they remarried was tell his grandfather the news.

The family was ecstatic and insisted they come home for a few days.

But she had spent the last few days thinking about another man, and he was so angry and helpless about it that he had to lie to his grandfather, telling him she was sick and that he would bring her over as soon as she recovered.

His mother had even offered to come take care of Annabelle Linton, but he’d had to politely turn her down.

’My family adores her, they’re so good to her, and I’m so good to her, yet she still wants a divorce?’

Leona Grant grew sullen. ’What right does she have?’

He pressed his lips together. The memory made his chest ache with frustration. He sneered, "Oh, she’s doing just fine."

’I hear she’s been having a pretty easy time without me around. She even started a flower garden!’

Hearing the sour, jealous tone in his grandson’s voice, a hint of a smile appeared in Patrick Grant’s eyes.

He said deliberately, "That’s wonderful! Then you and Annabelle should come stay with us tomorrow. Grandpa hasn’t seen her in so long, and your mother misses her terribly, too. Stay for a few extra days this time. And while you’re at it, try to make a baby!"

The old man finished with a hearty laugh.

Leona Grant felt a bitter twist in his heart.

’I’d love to,’ he thought, ’but the problem is, she can’t stand me.’

’I really don’t know what’s wrong with that woman’s eyes. To not even fall for someone as perfect as me... I just can’t even.’

Leona Grant was just about to refuse when a brilliant idea struck him.

’That’s right! If I tell her Grandpa misses her and wants us to come over, won’t I be able to see her?’

’After all, Grandpa’s name carries more weight than mine. It’s not like I haven’t used that to my advantage before.’
