Annabelle Linton was utterly speechless. She had to hand it to Leona Grant!

She gave a dry laugh. "You carry on."

Leona Grant immersed himself in his work again, head lowered, but the corners of his mouth quirked up uncontrollably.

He loved the time they spent together. Even if they said nothing and did nothing, just having her by his side made him happy.

He didn’t know why, but having her around always gave him a warm feeling.

Bored, Annabelle Linton wandered around his office and came to a stop before his bookshelf.

He had an impressive number of books, most of which were famous, limited-edition copies that were practically priceless.

They were arranged in neat rows. Annabelle Linton’s hand trailed lightly over the spines, her eyes scanning the titles one by one.

Finally, her long, slender fingers stopped on a book written in Heliconan, and she pulled it from the shelf.

Annabelle Linton had heard of this book. It was written by Helicona’s most influential literary figure. She had wanted to read it for some time but had never been able to find a copy.

She hadn’t expected to understand such a profound book and had only intended to skim it, but after a few pages, she was hooked.

Leona Grant lifted his head and looked at her.

She was sitting on the sofa across from him, her expression calm and composed.

Something in the book seemed to please her, as a faint smile graced her lips.

Her hair cascaded down, obscuring half her face. Her thick, curled lashes cast faint shadows beneath her eyes, and she radiated an aura of serene, gentle beauty.

She was the kind of woman who was breathtakingly beautiful, no matter the time or place.

Annabelle Linton sat on the sofa, engrossed in the book, and read for the entire morning.

She was so absorbed that she was still reading when noon arrived and it was time for lunch.

She didn’t snap out of it until the book was suddenly plucked from her hands.

Annabelle Linton looked up at him in confusion.

Leona Grant looked down at her, his expression dark. "Are you trying to ruin your eyes?"

She glanced at her watch reflexively and said with some embarrassment, "Sorry, I lost track of time."

Seeing that she recognized her mistake, Leona Grant’s expression softened slightly.

He flipped open the book in his hand and glanced at a page. It was all in Heliconan. "You can read this?" he asked, surprised.

A client had given it to him. He’d flipped through a few pages before; he knew Heliconan too, just not as fluently as Annabelle Linton, it seemed.

Annabelle Linton nodded. "I can. I used to work as a Heliconan translator. The book is about the lives of a man and a woman, from birth to marriage, and finally to death."

"So, do the man and woman end up together?" Leona Grant asked.

"No, they don’t." Annabelle Linton sounded regretful. "They loved each other deeply, but they were unwilling to compromise. Their marriage was plagued by so many problems that they ended up as strangers."

Annabelle Linton sighed. "Falling in love is easy, but staying together is hard."

Leona Grant fell silent for a moment. Then he sat down in front of her, took her hands in his, met her eyes, and said earnestly, "No matter what happens in the future, we will never be apart."

’But who could say for sure what the future held...’

Annabelle Linton gave a faint smile and said to him, "Okay."

Leona Grant smiled back but didn’t say anything.

"Can I borrow this book?" Annabelle Linton asked.

Leona Grant kissed her and said with a fond sigh, "Isn’t what’s mine yours?"

A warmth spread through Annabelle Linton’s heart. "Thank you."
