Chapter 754 - 757: The Rage of the Law Enforcers [4/7]
The faces of the kings and Sect Masters turned grim at the little one’s words.
"Die," Wu Tian said simply, uninterested in wasting his breath.
"No!"
"This will plunge the Three Realms into chaos!" they clamored, pleading for mercy.
Wu Tian paid them no mind. With a flick of his finger, the Three-legged Golden Crow roared and surged forward. A conflagration roared to life, consuming the very Void.
"No!"
The flames had yet to touch them. Merely approaching was enough to make people scream in agony as their entire bodies ignited.
"AH!"
Without a single touch, they were turned to ash and scattered.
The Three-legged Golden Crow continued its assault.
"No!"
The other kings and Sect Masters felt their very souls burning. These were once dignified beings, yet now they squealed like slaughtered pigs. Their cries were harrowing and terrifying. Amidst the agony, they were utterly incinerated.
Reduced to smoke and dust! Doomed to never be reborn for all eternity!
At that moment, the Void fell into a deathly silence. Shock permeated the entire world.
On a nearby mountain, several figures stealthily watched the scene. They wore cloaks of red, orange, and yellow. There were one hundred twenty-nine in red, fifty-seven in yellow, and five in orange.
They watched as Wu Tian unscrupulously exterminated the kings and Monarchs. Their eyes were frosty, exuding a terrifying aura that sent chills down the spine.
"This Wu Tian is truly audacious," a yellow-cloaked Law Enforcer hissed, his aura glacial. "By killing these people, he will plunge the Three Realms into chaos. This is a grave crime."
As he spoke, Spiritual Power, thick with killing intent, began to roll off his body, causing the surrounding space to distort. The yellow-cloaked Law Enforcers were in the Heavenly King Realm.
Another yellow-cloaked Law Enforcer stopped him. "Don’t expose us. Have you forgotten? He even kills Law Enforcers."
With that reminder, the Spiritual Power dissipated, but the Law Enforcer’s fists remained tightly clenched.
The other Law Enforcers sighed. If an ordinary person had done this, they would have intervened long ago. But Wu Tian was different. This man was reckless enough to kill even Law Enforcers. It was too terrifying.
"Why don’t we all attack together?"
"Exactly! The man has no regard for the law. We must bring him to justice."
"With so many kings and Sect Masters dead, the Three Realms are bound to fall into chaos. Heavens, war is inevitable."
"Other regions with Law Enforcers are mostly peaceful. It’s only our Three Realms that are like this."
"It’s infuriating!"
"How can this be allowed to happen?"
The red-cloaked and yellow-cloaked Law Enforcers suggested taking action.
One of the calm, orange-cloaked Law Enforcers shook his head. "We can’t. There’s no guarantee of victory. If we lose, death is all that awaits us."
Hearing this, the Law Enforcers seethed with frustration, but they could do nothing. After all, none of them wished to die.
"What should we do now?" a Law Enforcer asked.
The calmest among them replied, "Wait."
"Someone this powerful can’t possibly stay in a remote place like the Three Realms for long. Once he leaves... Heh, that will be the Green Law Enforcers’ territory. We’ll deal with him then."
Hearing this, the other Law Enforcers could only nod in agreement.
However, a red-cloaked Law Enforcer, whose cultivation was at the Foundation Establishment realm, furrowed his brow. "I... I don’t understand something."
"Speak," said a yellow-cloaked Law Enforcer.
"If we can’t stop Wu Tian, why didn’t we stop those Monarchs and Sect Masters from coming here to condemn him and hold a public trial?" the low-ranking red-cloaked Law Enforcer asked, voicing his doubt. "We’ve suspected from the start that this whole affair was suspicious. It doesn’t seem like something Wu Tian would do."
As soon as he spoke, a dead silence fell over the Law Enforcers. No one answered him.
The red-cloaked Law Enforcer was still a teenager and didn’t yet understand the ways of the world. Seeing no response, he asked again, "What is it? Why has everyone gone quiet?"
"Figure it out for yourself," the highest-ranking yellow-cloaked Law Enforcer barked before turning to leave.
The others also ignored the red-cloaked Law Enforcer, following the orange-cloaked one as they departed.
「In the other kingdoms of the Three Realms」
Many civilians gathered to discuss their Monarchs and Sect Masters traveling to the capital of Xiuyuan Country to demand Wu Tian’s confession. Some, full of themselves, were already convinced that Wu Tian would have no choice but to yield to a public trial by a hundred kingdoms.
"This time, the number of kings and Sect Masters going is over a hundred. With so many high-ranking individuals heading to Xiuyuan Country together, heh, not even Queen Si’er will be able to protect Wu Tian. She’ll have to hand him over," someone declared.
"Indeed, I think so too. It’s his own fault for acting so recklessly and slaughtering the innocent," another agreed.
"What do you think will happen to him in the end?" someone else asked.
"That’s..."
The people of the various kingdoms and Sects had watched their leaders depart in great splendor. In their eyes, Wu Tian’s defeat was a certainty. But what would his fate be? That was harder to say.
Some believed Wu Tian had to die. He had killed so many people and had even arrogantly left behind the words, "The killer is Wu Tian!" For such blatant defiance, they argued, only death could atone.
However, some of the older and more experienced folk disagreed. In their view, with so many kings and Monarchs confronting him together, Wu Tian would certainly confess. But he wouldn’t die. Wu Tian was terrifying, and if pushed to the brink, he might try to take everyone down with him—a risk no one wanted to take.
So at most, they would imprison Wu Tian for a while or perhaps banish him from the Three Realms. Everyone nodded in agreement with this assessment.
Before long, storytellers in various places began their tales. Storytellers were always the first to get the news.
"Everyone, everyone! The Monarchs of a hundred kingdoms went to pass judgment on Wu Tian! What was the result? Those who wish to know the outcome, gather ’round and listen!" the storytellers in every region began to call out.
Countless people, their faces a mixture of excitement and anticipation, immediately crowded around them, eager to hear the final result.
"Master Storyteller, is Wu Tian already dead?"
"No, Master Storyteller, I think his fate is just as I predicted. He was banished from the Three Realms, wasn’t he?"
"Nonsense, he must have been imprisoned."
The people argued, each stating their own opinion, certain that Wu Tian’s fate would be one of the few possibilities they had imagined.
"The Monarchs of a hundred kingdoms and the Masters of a hundred Sects are all dead," the storytellers across the Three Realms announced calmly.
Silence.
As the storytellers’ words fell, a complete and utter silence descended upon the crowds. The same scene unfolded wherever a storyteller stood. They could hardly believe what they had just heard.
The Monarchs of a hundred kingdoms and the Masters of a hundred Sects... were all dead? What did that mean? So many of them had gone together, yet they had all perished? How was that even possible?
All across the Three Realms, those who heard the news were struck dumb, their faces masks of pure shock and disbelief. At that moment, it felt as if the sky itself had fallen. The inhabitants of the Three Realms were terrified to death.
