Chapter 482: Catching Locusts
They searched for nearly two hours before Leng Pan located the stone they were looking for.
It was buried under a slab and if she hadn’t searched everywhere else and was just trying her luck, she wouldn’t have found it.
Moreover, this one was smaller compared to the one before.
The one they used in the foundation of the underground city was bigger than a basketball. However, this one was only a little larger than a baseball.
The only reason Leng Pan managed to discover it was because it was very similar to the other one.
It seemed that even though the size was different, the material and texture was the same.
Now that they knew this, it was easier to search in the future.
Nonetheless, she wondered whether the size of the meteorite dictated how large the area affected by its strengthening properties was.
If so, then they needed to locate bigger ones.
Once the meteorite was secured, Lu Zhen put it in his space then they went back to see if those who had gone to look for materials to make nets were back.
Ouyang Jin and his group had indeed found some materials.
Nonetheless, they couldn’t be said to be excellent, but as long as they were invisible, they could be useful.
In fact, they had found a hardware store not far after entering the town and maybe it was affected by that strengthening meteorite because it was intact.
It was one of those buildings that hadn’t been demolished by the first wave of meteorites.
Inside the warehouse, there were many things that those escaping might have ignored thinking they were useless.
Only things that could be used as weapons like machetes and hoes were missing.
However, some machinery and even wires were left behind.
Ouyang Jin had scored over thirty roles of six feet chain link. If attached, it could create a tall net that could trap many locusts.
He and his companions carried the chain link wires usually used for fencing back in two trips.
Because the locusts would pass by again in two or so hours, the group immediately got to work.
Those with metal manipulation ability worked together with Lu Zhen who possessed a potent fire ability to merge the pieces of chain link together and created a large net that covered a huge area.
After merging them, some metal poles were used to set the net up.
Once it was made, it was about a hundred meters long. Each chain link was about twenty to thirty meters long. Then after stacking them to a higher height, it was a huge net.
Once secured, Vanish had to touch one end of the net to render it invisible. This was why he needed to stay outside.
Unlike Leng Pan’s water ability which he could control from a distance using the water molecules in the air as a medium, Vanish was different.
Therefore, once the time arrived for the locusts to show up, everyone else went back into the garage except for Vanish.
He touched the net, turning it invisible while Leng Pan used her mist to conceal him and also thicken the net.
This way, the net was not only invulnerable, but the locusts which fly in could not leave.
Nevertheless, since it was their first time doing this, everyone was still worried about Vanish.
Leng Pan thought whether she should summon the two element dragons that had been lounging in the space bangle recently, but soon decided against it.
Many people, including the aliens who muct be watching them assumed that after sometime, the dragons had dissipated since they were created using hers and Lu Zhen’s ability.
What they didn’t know was that she had stored the dragons in the space bangle at the time the catalyst core was still there.
As a result, they absorbed so much energy that they had become corporal.
Even though their bodies started as energy entities, the dragons had now gained flesh.
Leng Pan didn’t know how it works, but she found out that at some point, the two dragons had turned completely real.
The only original trait they kept was their color. One was still blue and the other was red.
One breathed fire and the other sprayed water or steam.
The only difference with the mythological creatures was that the water or steam Leng Pan’s dragon spat had purifying effects. Probably a result of her water ability which was mixed with spiritual spring water.
The mist used in the net outside had the same effect. However, this works better on zombies since they carry the death energy and can be purified.
For creatures which had simply mutated and became bigger and more aggressive, this water was probably a tonic.
The only lucky thing was that Leng Pan could control it so that other entities do not consume it.
Thus, when the locusts came, a large number was trapped by the net and we’re unable to pass through or turn back.
Moreover, Vanish remained hidden and unharmed to the end.
Once all the other locusts left, everyone walked out of the garage and helped in closing the net.
Leng Pan thought that once the mist dispersed and the net became visible, the locusts would just bite through it and escape. Probably even injuring some of them.
Thus, before dispersing the mist, she used her ability to absorb all the moisture from the locusts. Turning them into dehydrated jerky.
Once the mist was dispersed, everyone found that they had about a tonne of grasshopper jerky.
"Uh...do they not require cleaning before frying?" Silk asked in bewilderment.
Leng Pan indeed hadn’t thought of this before processing the locusts into jerky.
"Can’t they be washed after dehydrating?" She asked sheepishly.
"Maybe they can?" Lu Zhen didn’t want to see her feeling guilty, do he spoke in affirmative, even though he lacked confidence.
"Let’s just look and determine. Won’t that work?" Lu Hao didn’t understand what they were dwaddling about.
