Chapter 481: Searching For The Special Meteorite
"How about making a huge net to catch them?" Lu Tao asked eagerly.
However, his idea was dismissed almost immediately.
"Have you seen their teeth? What net could they not bite through since they can bite metal?" ZaiZai asked incredulously.
How did the commander have such a naive brother?
"Then maybe we can dig pits?" Lu Tao didn’t give up and asked again.
This time, no one gave him the time of day.
How were they supposed to herd the locusts into the pits? Won’t they just fly above them?
"Is it possible to attach our abilities to the equipment we make?" Leng Pan suddenly asked.
"What do you have in mind?" Lu Zhen, who had ignored his younger brother a moment ago suddenly turned to his wife with a warm smile on his face.
"Whipped." Lu Tao mummered under his breath but everyone there was a superpowered individual and they heard him clearly.
Yet, Lu Zhen acted as if he heard nothing. So what if others said he was whipped? He had chased his wife for two lifetimes and finally married her, what was wrong with indulging her?
"I believe that if the locusts can’t see the net, they can’t bite. So, if we make a net using a durable material and set it up in their path then make it invisible, they wouldn’t be able to bite it. What do you think, Vanish?" Leng Pan turned to Vanish, who had the invisible ability.
He had advanced his ability to a higher level and now he could stay invisible for an hour without a break.
If he held crystal cores in his hand to keep replenishing his ability, he could stay invisible for longer.
Thus, he was the best candidate for this job.
"I believe I can do it. But what if they sense the power fluctuations from me and eat me instead?" He asked half- joking, half-serious.
"Don’t worry, I wouldn’t let you take that risk. I will surround you with purifying mist to render your invisibility more potent and also protect you from any sudden attacks. Maybe I can also use my ability as a trap as well." As Leng Pan spoke, she realized that her thinking process had been too rigid.
She could also use her ability to catch and harvest locusts as well.
"Alright, let’s split into two groups. Ouyang Jin, lead Sonny, Blaze, Lu Hao, ZaiZai, and Vanish to search for materials to make the net. Make sure they are tough and won’t break from the weight of the locusts. Panpan and I will take Lu Tao, Janna, Silk, Su Yan, and Shade to search for that meteorite. Be careful." Lu Zhen instructed everyone and they all picked up their backpacks to head outside.
By this time, the locusts had long passed and the outside quietened again.
"Also, watch out for any other threats. I don’t believe that such a sizable town lacks zombies or survivors simply due to the locusts. Don’t let your guard down." Leng Pan instructed.
"Yes, ma’am." Ouyang Jin gave a mock salute then led the first group mentioned outside.
When the iron gate was pulled open, the outside remained largely unchanged.
After such a large group of locusts passed through and the place was still so unchanged, it would be a lie to say that nothing was wrong.
Clearly, something valuable was hidden in the surroundings, preserving the structures in the state they were in before the locusts invaded.
"Alright, let’s go as well." Lu Zhen waved his hand and the tables and chairs inside the garage disappeared once more.
The group then followed the two commanders outside then divided themselves into teams of two to search for the special meteorite that could strengthen the surrounding buildings.
They had finally figured out that th stone they had found by chance that helped them preserve the buildings in their base was also a type of meteorite that had fallen from outer space at the beginning of the apocalypse.
It seems that while the apocalypse threw this world into disarray, it wasn’t intent on obliterating humanity as it left some leeway for their survival.
This could be seen from how even though the larger part of human population had turned into zombies, a small group had awakened abilities which allows them to protect themselves and those who remain ordinary.
Moreover, there were meteorites like the one they buried in their courtyard that accelerates the advancement of supernatural abilities.
Even though it can also accelerate the evolution of zombies, that was only the case of when humans haven’t found them.
And now, there was this kind of meteorite as well that helps them to construct stronger strongholds for humans to reside in that could keep out most of the dangers that threaten them.
Leng Pan remembered the crystal shard she had found in the forest on the way to the abandoned town where they discovered the underground laboratory.
That crystal could potentially increase water production if placed in a well or something similar.
Moreover, after studying it for a long time, she had discovered that it could purity water.
In that case, it was obvious that even though earth was at the risk of annihilation, there are opportunities to save mankind.
The only problem was that many humans only care about their interests and focus on becoming stronger individually to rule over others.
If humans could unite, then aliens and zombies would have no opportunity to load over them.
Unfortunately, humans were selfish in nature, causing their own downfall.
Nevertheless, Leng Pan thought that they would do their best to save as many humans as possible and drive the aliens back to their own planet.
"I am not sure whether this meteorite looks like the one we found before or there is a difference." Leng Pan muttered while searching.
Unfortunately, this kind of meteorite was different from the catalyst core. It didn’t have any energy fluctuations and had to be unearthed manually.
Differentiating it among so many stones that were scattered about after the buildings around them were crashed by the falling meterorites wasn’t going to be easy.
