"Leah!"

Who was Leah?

Was that the name she had picked for their son?

It was so tacky!

Elliot Sheridan disliked the name, but since Georgia Thorne had chosen it, he didn’t say anything.

Georgia Thorne had never bought toys before, so when he saw her struggling in front of the toy display, Elliot Sheridan assumed she wanted to buy one for the child they had tragically lost.

Elliot Sheridan was a man who spent money freely. He swept all the toys into the shopping cart. "Why hesitate? Just buy them all!"

"Why would we buy so many?!" Georgia Thorne put the toys back on the shelf, leaving only one in the cart.

Without looking too closely, she commented on Elliot Sheridan’s actions, "Rich and crass!"

Elliot Sheridan chuckled at that. "You’re right. And you’re the only one who truly knows it!"

At first, Georgia Thorne didn’t catch the meaning behind Elliot Sheridan’s words. It wasn’t until she met his blatant stare that she belatedly understood.

She blushed and glared at him. "Pervert!"

"So I’m a pervert. But I’m only a pervert to you!" Elliot Sheridan said nonchalantly.

He realized he was becoming more and more shameless in front of Georgia Thorne lately, but he didn’t care.

’What’s more important, my pride or my wife?’ Of course, he’d choose the latter.

Elliot Sheridan’s shamelessness continuously pushed Georgia Thorne’s limits. Sometimes, it was truly unbearable.

"Did I ever say you could move in with me? Why are you buying so much stuff!" Aside from some necessary men’s items, she already had most of these things at home. Buying them was a complete waste.

’Wasn’t it what he thought?’

"Then why did you bring me to the supermarket?!"

Georgia Thorne angrily shoved the toy into his arms. "You’re paying!"

The checkout line was long, so Georgia Thorne waited for him by the entrance.

By the time the two of them finished shopping and came out, it was already dark.

That was the great thing about a bustling city; even after nightfall, the glow of the streetlights and the neon signs of the shopping malls illuminated the sky as if it were day.

Georgia Thorne, holding only her single toy, didn’t get into the car with Elliot Sheridan. "You can go home. I have something to do later."

In fact, Lynn Thorne had called her that afternoon to say that she and Leo Jarvis had gone to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register their marriage today.

Lynn Thorne wanted to keep it low-key. She hadn’t even invited their parents, planning instead to cook a nice meal for the three of them to celebrate at home.

Of course, Lynn also wanted to share the happy news with Georgia Thorne; after all, Georgia deserved some credit for her mustering the courage to marry Leo Jarvis.

Georgia Thorne hadn’t wanted to go, but with Elliot Sheridan clinging to her, she decided it was better to get away. While Elliot was paying, she had called Lynn Thorne.

"You’re not going back? Then how will I get in?" Elliot Sheridan asked, then added, "Where are you going?"

Georgia Thorne tried to just walk away, but Elliot Sheridan blocked her path with his body. Unable to leave, she found herself being pulled into the car by him instead.

Georgia Thorne remained silent, so Elliot Sheridan started driving toward her apartment.

She glanced at the bags in the back seat, all filled with things Elliot Sheridan had bought, and felt a headache coming on. If they really went back, his forceful personality guaranteed he would insist on leaving everything at her place.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket. A text from Lynn Thorne popped up, asking if she had left home yet.

Georgia Thorne started to type that she couldn’t make it, but then deleted it. Instead, she typed, "I’m on my way, I’ll be there soon," and sent the message.

"Go to the Riverbend Complex!"

"Where’s that?"

"My sister’s place!"

Georgia Thorne had two older sisters, and it definitely wasn’t Amanda Thorne, so it had to be Lynn Thorne.

"Are you the only one going up? What about me?"

Georgia Thorne didn’t answer, so Elliot Sheridan continued, "Come to think of it, we’ve been married for so long, and I still haven’t formally met your family!"

Elliot Sheridan raised his eyebrows at her, his unspoken message clear: ’Shouldn’t you take this opportunity to introduce me to your sister?’

Even if Georgia Thorne wanted to refuse, Elliot Sheridan wouldn’t let her.

He closed the distance in a few large strides and took her hand. "Let’s go up!"

Georgia Thorne personally brought Elliot Sheridan to the door. The result was predictable.

The person who opened the door was Leo Jarvis. He was dressed in loungewear, smiling warmly. "You’re here!"

"Hello, brother-in-law!" Georgia Thorne said with a smile.

"Hello, brother-in-law!" Seeing Georgia Thorne greet him, Elliot Sheridan also politely called him brother-in-law.

Leo Jarvis was also a businessman and had heard of Elliot Sheridan in the corporate world.

He just never imagined that such a lofty figure would appear before him and call him "brother-in-law." It was surreal.

"I’m her husband, Elliot Sheridan. It’s a pleasure to meet you, brother-in-law!"

Faced with Elliot Sheridan’s politeness and respect, Leo Jarvis was quite flattered. "No, the honor is all mine, Mr. Sheridan."

The atmosphere grew awkward for a moment, until Lynn Thorne came out of the kitchen. "Is Leah back?"

Leo Jarvis stepped aside to let them in. "It’s not Leah. It’s Georgia Thorne and her husband."

"Who?" Lynn Thorne, brandishing a spatula, rushed out again and saw Georgia Thorne standing with Elliot Sheridan.

How could Lynn Thorne not recognize Elliot Sheridan?

Her second sister, Amanda Thorne, used to boast in her ear every day about how she was going to become Mrs. Sheridan, constantly talking about Elliot. How had he suddenly become Georgia Thorne’s husband?

Elliot Sheridan knew all three of the Thorne Family sisters.

The corners of his mouth lifted into a smile. "Hello, eldest sister. I’m Elliot Sheridan, Georgia Thorne’s husband. We’ve been married for quite some time, so please forgive me for only visiting now."

"Of course not!" Lynn Thorne chuckled, shooting her husband a look. Leo Jarvis shook his head at her; he was just as shocked.

Elliot Sheridan was like an Immortal who had descended from the heavens, making Lynn Thorne’s humble home feel magnificent with his presence.

While Elliot Sheridan chatted and laughed amiably with Leo Jarvis in the living room, Georgia Thorne was pulled into the kitchen by Lynn Thorne.

It was ostensibly for a chat, but in reality, it was an interrogation.

"What is going on? When did you marry Elliot Sheridan? And does Amanda Thorne know about this?"

Ever since Georgia Thorne had joined the Thorne Family, Lynn Thorne had disliked her. Anything Georgia had, she wanted to destroy.

Now that Amanda Thorne was about to find out the man she’d been obsessed with had been snatched away by her younger sister, who knew how big a scene she would make!

Georgia Thorne felt incredibly frustrated. "Eldest sister, please stop. I don’t really know either!"

"What do you mean you don’t know? You’re the one who married him! If you didn’t want to marry him, it’s not like he could have forced you!"

"He didn’t force me. I married him of my own free will!"

"So what really happened?"

Georgia Thorne rarely told others about her situation, but now she told Lynn Thorne everything, from beginning to end.

After listening, Lynn Thorne sighed. "I can see he feels guilty about you and the baby. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have used his own death to pressure you!"

"I know, but I just can’t get over that hurdle in my heart!"

"You’re still so young. After some time passes, you’ll realize there’s no hurdle in this world that can’t be overcome." Lynn Thorne patted her shoulder sympathetically. "I once thought I couldn’t get past my own hurdle, but haven’t I made it through? And I even found a better man."

When a woman spoke of the man she loved, her face would always be awash with a sweet smile.

"By the way, where’s Leah?"

"Where else? She ran upstairs again to find that little boy. I tell you, that child is so pitiful. Lost his father at such a young age, and his mother is raising him all by herself. Leah says the boy sits by his door every night, waiting for his mom to come home!"

Even though she’d only seen him once, listening to Lynn Thorne’s words, Georgia Thorne could clearly recall the little boy’s face.

After dinner, because of the sudden presence of a distinguished guest at the table, Leo Jarvis, as the man of the house, spoke up. "It’s just a simple home-cooked meal. I hope you don’t mind, Mr. Sheridan."

"Not at all," Elliot Sheridan said with a smile. "Actually, when Georgia and I are at home, I often eat her cooking too."

All the dishes had been served. Seeing that Leah still wasn’t back, Lynn Thorne untied her apron. "You all start eating. I’m going to go get Leah!"
