Chapter 205 - 195: He Crooks a Finger, and You Vanish in a Flash

A few days passed in the blink of an eye.

Elliot Sheridan had no choice but to agree to Georgia Thorne’s terms.

If he didn’t, the little woman would just keep living with Nancy Hughes indefinitely.

With an extra person around, Georgia would be self-conscious about this and that whenever they made love, usually ending things early before she was fully satisfied.

And he had to knock before going to the bathroom. It was fine if Georgia was inside, but he was afraid it might be Nancy Hughes.

The only person he wanted to see—and be seen by—was Georgia.

It was only for a few days. They would pass quickly.

That’s what Elliot told himself during the day.

But at night, when he returned to his cold, empty private apartment, with no Georgia to greet him at the door and no sight of her bustling figure in the kitchen, his heart felt hollow.

Lying in bed at night, all he could smell was Georgia’s faint, lingering fragrance on the sheets. Unable to touch her soft, warm body, he couldn’t sleep at all.

Over the past few days, he had grown accustomed to falling asleep holding Georgia, and she was the first person he saw when he woke up.

The days passed one by one. Georgia sent him a text message every day.

When he didn’t reply after half an hour, Georgia had no choice but to call him.

It had been days since he’d seen Georgia, and he missed her more and more—her body, every part of her.

When Elliot got angry, it was often for no reason. The slightest annoyance would set him off.

As for Georgia, on her first day sleeping alone, she felt liberated.

Finally, there was no one squeezing into the small bed with her. But when she woke up the next morning and reached for the man who wasn’t by her side, her heart felt empty.

They had both grown used to each other’s presence. Suddenly missing their other half felt like having the most important part of their heart carved out.

Just as the weekend was approaching, before Georgia had even packed her things, Elliot was going crazy missing her on Saturday night.

After her shower, Georgia was lying under the covers, video chatting with Elliot.

She had been sitting in front of her easel painting all day, and now her back ached. She was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open.

But this man was pestering her, refusing to let her sleep.

Georgia yawned, looked at the man on the screen, and buried half her face in the blanket, leaving only her big, watery eyes visible—incredibly alluring.

"Aren’t you sleepy?"

"Not at all!"

The person knocking on the door in the middle of the night was Selena Sheridan. Her face was a tear-streaked mess. She rushed forward and hugged Georgia as if she’d just found a long-lost relative, then burst into loud sobs.

"Selena, what’s wrong?" Georgia hugged her back, patting her on the back.

"Georgia, my family is gone!" Selena cried.

Georgia’s heart sank. ’Some secrets just can’t be kept,’ she thought.

She helped Selena to the sofa and pretended not to know anything. "What on earth happened?"

Through her tears, Selena explained the whole story from beginning to end.

Apparently, her parents weren’t as loving as they seemed. The two of them had a falling out before she went abroad to study.

Georgia already knew most of what Selena was talking about.

When she first found out, she had wanted to tell Selena, but Elliot had said she wouldn’t be able to handle it, so Georgia kept it buried in her heart.

Selena had been kept in the dark the whole time, completely unaware that her parents had gotten divorced while she was traveling abroad.

Until tonight, when her father brought home a strange woman.

Only then did the Sheridan Family tell her the whole story.

"Alright, don’t cry." Georgia wiped her tears, not knowing what to say to comfort her.

In Selena’s eyes, her parents had always treated each other with respect, like honored guests. They couldn’t possibly get a divorce. It had to be that shameless homewrecker who seduced her father and destroyed her family.

Selena’s heart ached for her mother, and she was furious at her father for cheating. In a fit of anger, she ran away from the Sheridan estate.

"Georgia, what should I do?" Selena wailed, and Georgia frowned.

It seemed Selena only knew half the story. Regarding Carter Sheridan and Naomi Shaw, rumor had it that Carter was the one who pursued Naomi first.

Georgia was Selena’s only close friend. She had no one else to turn to.

"There, there, don’t cry." Georgia patted her shoulder. "Why don’t you go take a hot shower and get some sleep? We can talk about it tomorrow morning, okay?"

Georgia gave Selena some of her own clothes to wear and took the opportunity, while Selena was in the shower, to call Elliot.

Selena had run off on her own. The Sheridan Family would surely be worried when they couldn’t find her.

The call connected. Before Georgia could say a word, Elliot had already guessed. "Is Selena with you?"

"Mhm."

"You take good care of her. I’ll handle things at home."

Georgia trusted Elliot’s ability to handle things. She nodded and said, "Then there’s no need to have people come move my things tomorrow."

Selena didn’t know they were together in the first place.

Selena was upset and would probably stay for a few days. To avoid arousing her suspicion, Georgia obviously couldn’t leave.

Elliot frowned. He’d forgotten about that complication.

’A lot can happen in one night, and this one was only half over!’

’Why is it so much trouble just to sleep with my own wife?’

Elliot was in a foul mood. As Georgia hummed softly on the other end of the line, he said sullenly, "I should’ve fucked you properly these past few days!"

He had been looking forward to a night of passion with Georgia tomorrow, but it looked like that was all down the drain now!

He’d held back his desire for days, all for nothing!

Sometime after nine, Georgia woke up and saw Selena sleeping soundly beside her. She rubbed her sore eyes.

Selena had kept her up talking late into the night, and she’d eventually drifted off in a daze.

When she left the room, she bumped right into Nancy Hughes.

"We have a visitor?" Nancy asked, noticing the pair of women’s shoes by the door.

Georgia nodded, glanced back at her room, and then pulled Nancy into the kitchen. "Um, I need to tell you something."

"What is it? Why are you being so mysterious!" Nancy yawned, still not fully rested.

She rubbed her eyes and said, "By the way, didn’t your husband say he was sending people to move your stuff today? How come I haven’t seen anyone?"

"SHH! For goodness’ sake, keep your voice down!" Georgia frantically covered Nancy’s mouth.

"What’s wrong? Who’s here?" Nancy pushed her small hand away. ’I have to whisper in my own home?’

"It’s Selena, Elliot’s niece!" Georgia whispered.

"Ohh, but isn’t that just family? Why all the secrecy!" Nancy said with a knowing "oh."

She knew Selena was Georgia’s best friend, but she didn’t know that Selena was unaware of Georgia and Elliot’s relationship.

Georgia pulled Nancy aside and explained the situation.

"Why don’t you just tell her? You guys are going to be family, after all! No, wait, you’re already family!"

"Selena made it clear before that she couldn’t accept her best friend getting together with Elliot. I’m afraid she’ll get angry and won’t want to talk to me anymore!" Georgia had been struggling with this issue for a while.

Hiding it forever wasn’t a solution, but now was not a good time to reveal it.

"Just help me keep it a secret for now. Try not to mention Elliot!"

Nancy gave her an "OK" sign and raised her eyebrows. "You don’t trust me?"

Selena had a cheerful personality. Usually, if something upsetting happened, she would forget about it by the next day.

But this time was clearly a much bigger deal. Selena emerged from the room with red, swollen eyes.

"Georgia, I’m hungry!"

She had cried for so long last night, exhausting all her energy. Now she collapsed limply onto the sofa.

Nancy and Selena had met before. Back when they first moved into the dorm, the two of them had hit it off immediately, like they’d known each other for years.

Georgia came out of the kitchen with a bowl of congee. "Selena, have something to eat first!"

"Coming!" After chatting with Nancy for a bit, Selena’s mood had improved considerably.

That night, Elliot called and asked what she was doing.

She had just been struck by a bit of inspiration and sat down at her easel when his call came in.

"Are you alone?"

"Mhm! Selena is outside chatting with Nancy, so I came in here."

"Georgia, come out here, quick!"

Selena’s voice suddenly called from outside. Georgia’s hand trembled, and she nearly dropped her phone.

"Wait, Selena’s calling me. I have to go!"

Before Elliot could reply, Georgia had already hung up.

Elliot frowned, his dislike for his young niece growing by the second.

Selena and Nancy were watching a movie in the living room and wanted her to join them.

"Hurry, sit down!" Selena happily patted the seat next to her.

It was a Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster. They had just started watching when the phone in her pocket vibrated.

A message came from Elliot. "When are you going to make our relationship public!"

Georgia glanced furtively at Selena’s excited profile and replied, "Just a little longer."

When Elliot saw "Just a little longer," he was about to die from anger!

Selena seemed to be settling in for a long stay. Georgia wasn’t in a hurry, but Elliot was.

’I have to find a way to have a proper talk with Selena!’

In late July, the weather grew hotter and hotter.

Curious, Selena went with Georgia to buy fabric, but ended up panting like a dog in the heat.

Back home, she immediately turned on the air conditioning and collapsed onto the comfortable sofa. "I’m seriously dying from the heat!"

"I told you it was hot outside, but you insisted on coming with me." Georgia also wiped away her sweat and placed her things on the coffee table.

"But I was bored at home by myself, with no one to talk to!" Selena rolled over on the sofa. Besides, she’d never been fabric shopping before and thought it would be a novel experience.

"I’m going to take a shower first!" She was covered in sweat, and her clothes were sticking uncomfortably to her skin.

After her shower, Georgia couldn’t be bothered to change and came out of the bathroom wearing just her nightgown.

She was dumbfounded to see a man standing by the sofa.

Startled, Georgia quickly pushed the man’s approaching face away. "Selena’s calling me, I have to go!"

Elliot was caught completely off guard and was pushed away just like that.

He watched as the little woman fled in a hurry.

His stern face turned ashen with frustration!

’The mood he’d worked so hard to build was completely ruined by Selena.’

’A distinguished CEO like him, reduced to sneaking around with his own wife.’

Georgia ran out in a panic. The living room was empty.

Selena was standing at her bedroom door, which was open just a crack, peering at Georgia through the gap.
