Evelyn felt that although what she and Cecilia Lynch had encountered was different, both of them had met men who seemed dazzling and didn’t seem to match with them.

Evelyn really wished she could shine a little brighter.

If so, would she have enough worth to stay by Caden Lockwood’s side?

Seeing Evelyn’s sadness and gloom so clearly, Caden freed up a hand and firmly held hers.

Feeling the warmth from his hand, Evelyn shivered slightly all over.

Looking back, she gazed at Caden, meeting his comforting gaze, and the smile at the corners of her lips never faded.

"Husband." Evelyn said softly.

She was trying hard to get used to this form of address now.

After all, she and Caden were genuinely husband and wife now, so calling him "Uncle" really wasn’t suitable.

Caden very much enjoyed Evelyn calling him that, it warmed his heart.

Raising an eyebrow, he slightly parted his lips: "Don’t let Cecilia Lynch’s issues interfere with your life, you have me." His tone was unexpectedly gentle even to himself.

Listening to Caden’s words, a rosy tint appeared on Evelyn’s cheeks.

She lowered her eyes, the light in them soft, and continued to speak: "Cece is my best friend, and I feel really guilty for not being able to do anything for her."

Hearing this, Caden’s breathing lightened somewhat, waiting for Evelyn to say what she wanted to express.

"So, if you think of anything I can help with, you must tell me! Don’t worry about me possibly getting hurt or getting set up, because all these years, Cece has never considered those external factors when caring for me!" Evelyn said sincerely.

Caden agreed, and said: "I will work hard to come up with ways to help them, just give me some time."

Evelyn nodded, and then looked down at the hands clasped tightly with Caden’s.

His large palm held hers tightly, the interweaving of fair and tan colors didn’t look awkward at all.

Evelyn couldn’t help but tighten her grip on Caden’s hand, looking at him with attachment and reassurance in her gaze.

As the car pulled up in front of the villa, Evelyn got out first, and just as she opened the car door, she saw Yvette standing at the door, her beautiful little face still cold and frosty, without a single extra expression.

Evelyn’s eyes paused, and she immediately ran over to Yvette.

Evelyn anxiously said: "Why did you come? You’re still injured! It’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have run off and gotten you punished."

Yvette’s gaze fell on Caden, and she spoke softly: "I’m sorry for not protecting Mrs. Lockwood."

"It has nothing to do with you!" Evelyn raised her voice, "Yvette, please rest a few more days! I’ll make you some soup! Whatever is nourishing, I’ll cook it for you! I’m really sorry, it’s all my fault!"

"Can I... talk to Mrs. Lockwood alone?" Yvette asked Caden.

Evelyn glanced at Caden, then took Yvette’s hand into the villa, without needing Caden’s approval.

Watching Evelyn’s back, Caden shook his head helplessly.

In Evelyn’s heart, his status was indeed dropping lower and lower!

Caden felt that even Aunt May and Kiki ranked ahead of him!

That woman is really vexing!

Despite being so annoyed that his teeth itched, Caden couldn’t help but curve a smile at the corners of his mouth, his eyes filled with deep affection.

She was beautiful because she was kind, how could he bear to ruin someone like her?
