Evelyn pulled Yvette to her room and hastily said, "Let me see your wound! I’ll have Caden find the best doctor to look at it for you!"

"I wasn’t punished," Yvette responded softly.

Evelyn was taken aback and instinctively asked, "Not punished? But... didn’t Caden say that your sect’s rules..."

"The rules are indeed set that way," Yvette replied, "but things are a bit complicated."

Evelyn couldn’t help but ask, "What happened?"

"It was Liam Shaw who saved me," Yvette explained, her brows furrowing unintentionally.

"Liam Shaw?" Evelyn was even more bewildered, "Why would he save you?"

Yvette shook her head.

The intersection between her and Liam Shaw was only on the day Evelyn went missing; it was the first time they met.

But when she returned to Aegis Gate to willingly accept punishment, Liam Shaw suddenly appeared.

Liam Shaw negotiated with the Sect Leader of Aegis Gate for a long time, using both hard and soft tactics, and in the end, Yvette didn’t really understand why her sentence was pardoned.

As far as Yvette knew, she was the only person in Aegis Gate’s history to be pardoned when supposed to be punished.

And yet, it was the very Liam Shaw she disliked who saved her.

"Why?" Evelyn couldn’t understand, "Did Liam Shaw specifically go to save you? Could it be that he wants to recruit you, and later, do something to me?"

Hearing Evelyn’s words, Yvette couldn’t help but feel awkward.

In Yvette’s view, Liam Shaw harbored no animosity towards Evelyn at all; on the contrary, he seemed to want her as a sister-in-law.

"Although I don’t know what his intentions are, I will be careful in the future," Yvette said softly.

When talking about Liam Shaw, Yvette’s face was always filled with disdain and disgust.

"In any case, it’s good that you weren’t punished!" Evelyn smiled happily, "I was scared to death thinking you would be whipped!"

Yvette nodded, having explained everything to Evelyn, the household returned to its original state of happiness and harmony.

However, Evelyn couldn’t quite feel truly happy.

After all, she was still preoccupied with the situation between Cecilia Lynch and Julian Keaton, unaware of how they resolved it...

In the hospital, Cecilia Lynch had been keeping Julian Keaton outside of the ward, not giving him a single bit of information.

Julian Keaton didn’t want to disturb her, so he could only wait by the door for Cecilia Lynch to come out.

Inside the ward, Cecilia Lynch sat beside her mother, not wanting her mother’s emotions to get riled up again.

Mrs. Lynch was also trying hard to calm her feelings, her gaze constantly on Cecilia, filled with sadness, gloom, and heartache.

After quite a while, Mrs. Lynch spoke softly, "Cece, I know you like Julian Keaton. But he’s really not someone you can reach."

"Mom," Cecilia’s eyes were red, "I know."

"You don’t know!" Mrs. Lynch shook her head, "When his parents came to see me, what they said was too hurtful! Cece, although our family doesn’t have money, you are still my precious! What man can’t you love, why must it be someone like him? Do you think even if you’re with him now, you will be happy in the future?"

"But..." Cecilia choked, "I really like him."

"Forget him," Mrs. Lynch held Cecilia’s hand, "Cece, I want you to live well, not to be a servant in someone else’s house, suffering contempt. Listen to me, I’m experienced, I won’t harm you."

"But... I can’t let go." Cecilia silently shed tears, "Mom, I beg you, let me be with him, okay? Anyway, he was my first man, he’s been great to me, and between us, the monetary relationship, if you think about it, there’s really no..."
