Chapter 573: Without Her, What Meaning Is Left in His Life
"How far do you have to degrade yourself?!" Mrs. Lynch suddenly shouted, "How did I end up with such a useless daughter?"
"I promised him I wouldn’t leave." Cecilia Lynch shook her head painfully, "Mom, please don’t be angry, please give me and him a chance, okay?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Cecilia quickly added, "I hope to gain your understanding and blessing. Julian is a good man, his family background is good, can’t I love him? It doesn’t make any sense!"
"Why are you so stubborn?" Mrs. Lynch couldn’t help but tear up, "Isn’t the Keaton Family just about a good family background? Moreover, it’s not even about the background anymore, Julian Keaton’s parents clearly dislike you. Do you know how difficult a marriage is without the family’s blessing?"
"That’s something I have to face!" Cecilia cried out, "Mom, don’t just so easily drive Julian away from me."
"I’ve tried to leave him, I really tried, but I just can’t. Mom, I can’t live a life without him! I’m begging you, give us a chance, let us... at least have someone supporting us, please?" she pleaded deeply.
"Cece..."
"I really love him." Cecilia’s eyes were brimming with tears, "Love him so much!"
Listening to Cecilia’s words, Mrs. Lynch was also in tears.
The daughter she had raised with so much love, now in such a difficult romance, as a mother, she wanted to pull her out, yet felt powerless.
Mrs. Lynch waved a hand at Cecilia, speaking softly, "Go on out."
"Mom!" Cecilia panicked, "Don’t drive me away! I won’t leave! I’m your daughter!"
"Let me quietly think about it." Mrs. Lynch turned her eyes away, "Cecilia, you’ve been obedient for so long, yet now, you do something that puts me in such a difficult position, tell me, what should I do?"
"I know you’re doing it for my good." Cecilia said in a hoarse voice, "But, I’ve been avoiding the feelings I have for Julian all this time, and now, I want to be brave for once."
Mrs. Lynch frowned, couldn’t help but ask, "What if in the end, you end up miserable?"
"Then at least I’ll have tried." When Cecilia spoke, a firm light flashed in her eyes.
After a pause, she continued, "If I just run away now, in the future, I’ll blame myself for a lifetime. Because maybe, I might never be able to love someone else again."
Mrs. Lynch sighed heavily, looking deeply at Cecilia, she spoke again, "Call him in, I’ll have a talk with him."
"Mom!" Cecilia stood up excitedly, "You... you’re agreeing?"
Mrs. Lynch’s face was stern, speaking coldly, "I’m just telling you to call him in."
Cecilia wiped her tears, practiced a smile, then immediately headed outside.
Seeing Cecilia, Julian Keaton immediately got up, saying nothing, he directly pulled her into his embrace.
"Don’t think I’ll leave just because you say some words to drive me away, and don’t think you can escape me in this lifetime! Anyway, I don’t have a job anymore, from now on, wherever you go, I’ll go! I’ll never part with you again!"
Julian’s voice carried a deep sense of unease, holding Cecilia tightly, very tightly, as if worried she’d suddenly vanish from his sight.
Heaven knew how much torment he endured waiting outside.
He knew she couldn’t be that strong, she would surely compromise with her mother.
But didn’t she know?
Without her, he truly didn’t know what meaning life would have.
