Chapter 976: Elder Sandra’s call
Wilderness
Jeremy Night used the second eye power in the following attacks. His blade strikes landed on the target, opening the flesh.
The precise strikes injured the beast heavily. In the blink of an eye, the body of the worm beast was riddled with holes.
Pfff!
Blood spurted from all the wounds. The beast lost its strength and fell to the ground. It happened in under 5 minutes again.
Because of the size of the beast, it was slowly losing its vitality. He waited there until the beast died. He then collected the beast’s corpse into the storage ring.
Next, he saw that it would be nighttime in a few hours. He once again resumed his travels. This time, he went back toward the middle ground.
He didn’t want to spend the night in the deepest area of the wilderness. The middle land was enough for him to stay safe.
Soon, he reached the middle land. He used a tree trunk to carve out a hole again. After doing that, he entered the hole to rest inside.
He then covered the gap with green leaves and broken tree twigs.
Time passed.
When nighttime came, the wilderness became active. The beasts came out during the night.
All different types of corrupted beasts were roaming in the wilderness. It wasn’t only the worm beasts present now.
The Beast Tamers who were also spending the night in the wilderness were experiencing the changes in the area.
....
Special Base
The elders who remained in the base were getting updates about the wilderness. The injured Beast Tamers were returning from the wilderness.
There were also reports of casualties. The news was not good; talented Beast Tamers had lost their lives as well.
They needed to find the Tier-9 Worm King as soon as possible. If they didn’t, their casualty rate would continue to increase.
Elder John was reading the report he received as well. After reading it, he was not happy at all.
After the last battle, they had spent a huge amount of time and resources to fill the gap in the special base.
Now, another situation has arisen. If they lost more members, he didn’t think the higher-ups would allow them to hire new talent again.
He didn’t know what others were thinking. Next, he thought of Jeremy Night. He didn’t know what Jeremy Night was doing right now.
He knew that Jeremy Night was fighting against Tier-5 Beasts, but he was worried that Jeremy Night might come across Tier-6 beasts.
According to the report, a greater number of Tier-6 Worm beasts were spotted in the wilderness.
Meanwhile,
Elder Sandra was in continuous contact with the higher-ups in the human alliance. She informed them about the situation.
The Tier-9 Worm King had returned. Now, it was using other worm beasts to attack the special base. The higher-ups in the human alliance took the matter seriously.
They didn’t want the Tier-9 Beast to attack the special base. They had already lost many students in the previous battle, and the same thing could happen again.
They decided to send two Tier-9 Beast Tamers to the wilderness because they knew the Tier-9 Worm King was cunning.
One Tier-9 Beast Tamer wouldn’t be enough to deal with the beast, so they were going to send two Tier-9 Beast Tamers.
Sandra got assurance from them. After ending the call, she sighed in relief. She was worried the tragedy might repeat itself.
Fortunately, the higher-ups were acting proactively. They were going to send the Tier-9 Beast Tamers ahead.
She had wanted exactly that.
"If they had done the same during the previous battle, the lost lives could have been saved," she said to herself.
She then collected her thoughts. She had been getting calls from other elders, and now she had an answer for them.
She then informed the elders staying there that help from the Human Alliance was going to arrive early this time.
They had to withstand the pressure until then.
There were some Beast Tamers who were injured in the wilderness resting at the base. They were not going to head back out.
Some of their teammates had been killed by corrupted beasts in the wilderness. They couldn’t fight alone with their lifeline beasts.
...
On the other hand, the Beast Tamers in the wilderness were surviving. They faced hurdles and threats.
They were also thinking about other Beast Tamers in the wilderness. Not everyone was lucky, and they were learning about the casualties.
They thought of the Tier-3 Beast Tamer in the base. They didn’t know whether the elders had told him not to leave the base.
They didn’t have any bad opinion of Jeremy Night; Jeremy Night didn’t have anything to prove to anyone.
Everyone had witnessed his strength. His name was among the top 50 on the leaderboard rankings.
Even if the elders decided to protect him, they wouldn’t be offended. Even their own members were dying while fighting against Tier-6 Worm Beasts.
If a Tier-3 Beast Tamer were to appear in the wilderness, he would die even faster.
However, they didn’t know that Jeremy Night had better survivability than anyone else. He had not only killed Tier-5 Beasts, but he had killed Tier-6 Beasts as well.
...
The Next Morning
The next morning, Jeremy Night opened his eyes. He hadn’t slept deeply; he only took a short nap during the night.
He then removed the broken twigs and green leaves and exited the space into the open land.
He stretched his arms and legs and did a few small exercises. Once he fully woke up from his sleepiness, he decided to resume the mission.
Apart from completing the mission, he needed to find natural resource locations as well.
If he could find treasures, his journey to the next stage would be smooth.
After figuring things out, he started his journey. He used his eye power to scan the surroundings, but he couldn’t find any corrupted beasts.
He figured most of the beasts must have returned to their hideouts.
