Chapter 1011: Part 1: Forest Black Scorpion
Wilderness (5th Zone)
Jeremy Night reached a spot closer to the border one hour later, but he hadn’t come across a higher-tier beast. For a second, he was lost in thought. He waited there.
He had decided to select the location on a whim, but he had only encountered Tier-5 Beasts on the way. He then collected his thoughts and used his eye power to scan the place.
He noticed many footprints on the ground. They seemed to be new. Jeremy began to investigate the surroundings, taking a look at the area to find more tracks.
It was not that he was afraid of going to the border. He had confidence against Tier-6 beasts, but it was a different matter when it came to Tier-7 and Tier-8 Beasts.
The City Governors, Head Harold, and other seniors would be at the border. They would take care of the problem. So, he made up his mind to restrict his fighting zone.
Soon, the rain started to pour. It was already past noon, and dark clouds had replaced the bright sky. All of a sudden, the wilderness seemed to be enveloped in a dark curtain.
Jeremy stood on one of the tree branches under the cover of large leaves. As time passed, a heavy downpour of rain began.
As the rain intensified, the rainwater pouring from the broad leaves and branches reached the ground, beginning to form a temporary stream.
The heavy downpour also caused mist to appear, reducing the temperature drastically. The visibility was low, and the surrounding sounds quieted down.
It was not an ideal ground for battle. Especially for beast tamers, it was not a good situation. He shook his head and stopped thinking about others.
He had to think about himself now, because he was beyond the core area and closer to the border. A corrupted beast could appear at any time. In particular, he had to be careful of bird-type beasts.
Rustle!
He heard a sound. Even with the heavy downpour of rain, the sound came through crystal clear. If it was a beast, it could not be a mid-tier beast.
Jeremy used his eye power and leaped toward other trees one after another. Then, he heard the same heavy footsteps again.
He followed the source of the noise until he came to an open patch of land. There, he saw a Forest Scorpion over 5 meters in size.
From its size and menacing pressure, he could tell that the Forest Scorpion was a Tier-6 Beast. He had been looking for scorpion beasts everywhere and had not expected to find one here.
On the other hand, the heavily armored black scorpion sensed the human presence as well. It had menacing pincers and a deadly stinger.
All it needed was one touch to kill the enemy. The scorpion beast saw through the strength of the human and deemed him weak. It believed it could kill the human with pressure alone.
Clack! Clack!
The heavy pincers snapped. Next, the Forest Black Scorpion charged at the human standing on one of the tree branches.
Thud!
Jeremy moved away from the branch and landed on the ground.
Splash!
The water splashed. It would be difficult to fight against the beast in this weather, but he was up for the challenge.
He unsheathed his blade and covered the edges with starlight power. The shining starlight power coated the edge.
"Feathered Steps"
He used the movement technique to charge at the beast. His senses kicked in. The movement in the surroundings appeared slow to his eyes, including the movement of the beast.
Swoosh!
The two deadly pincers locked onto him. When he tried to maneuver, he saw that the pincers tracked in that direction as well.
His heart stirred. He changed tactics at the last moment, shifting away from the spot early to avoid the pincers.
Right then, he executed the "Blade One Move," and his speed increased.
Swoosh!
The pincers failed to hit him, and his blade came into contact with its flank.
Cut!
The blade appeared in a blur before touching the skin. The next second, the hard scales broke, and the starlight-filled blade penetrated inside.
Pfff!
A torrent of blood gushed forth from the wound. He withdrew the blade and pushed forward.
Grunt!
The Forest Black Scorpion made a sound. It felt extreme pain.
Boom!
In the next second, it abruptly spun around to face the human Beast Tamer.
The Tier-6 Scorpion had underestimated the human; he was stronger than it thought. It no longer held back and activated its ability.
Boom!
Its long curved tail extended back, pointing the deadly stinger straight at the human target.
Green energy gathered at the tip of the stinger.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Night felt a sense of crisis. It was a true threat from a Tier-6 Beast.
Jeremy Night collected his thoughts, relying on his eye power. He did not move an inch from the spot.
His eyes were locked onto the green light. Jeremy had not expected the scorpion to resort to using its ability right away.
Boom!
The green beam released from the stinger, shooting directly at him. Jeremy’s sense of danger doubled. If he didn’t move away, he would be swept away by the green energy.
Right then, a cold energy was released by the unknown beast egg. His mind cleared all of a sudden.
Swoosh!
Jeremy Night sidestepped to avoid the attack. Thanks to his unknown egg lifeline beast. He had thought he was ready but he was not.
Boom!
The green energy beam shot past him, creating a booming noise. In that split second, he felt the brush of lethal danger.
Boom!
The green energy beam struck the large tree behind him. The tree was obliterated the next second, leaving no traces behind. The dark energy beam did not stop there.
It continued to destroy everything along its path. At the same time, green poison spread from the affected ground.
It continued to corrode the surrounding area, eating away at the vegetation even under the heavy downpour of rain.
