Chapter 999: Martin collected the evidence
5th Zone, City-A
Jeremy Night continued to repeat the process. He had a feeling that he would reach his limit soon. Just as he had thought, the unknown beast egg was helping him a lot.
Buzz!
Right then, his device buzzed. He stopped practicing and opened his eyes. He took the device out and saw the contact name.
Head Harold was calling. He answered the call.
"Head, it’s me," Jeremy replied.
"Give me the exact location of the hideout," Harold asked him.
Hearing that, he was taken aback. Then he collected his thoughts. He began to tell him about the border and the land beyond it.
They would find the hideout within a few miles, at the base of the massive bedrock.
"Okay," Harold said before ending the call.
Jeremy then looked at his device. He could figure out what this was about. The Governors might have wanted to look at the hideout.
He shook his head before putting away the device.
Jeremy then resumed practicing. He once again circulated the natural energy in his body. Once again, the cells in his body were activated.
They were hungry as always and continued to absorb the natural energy.
At the same time, the unknown beast egg was absorbing the natural energy as well.
Though the quality of natural energy in the 5th Zone was low compared to the 4th Zone, the unknown beast egg needed it, so it couldn’t be picky about it.
....
Wilderness
City Governor Martin and the others had arrived at the border. Martin turned toward Head Harold.
"Head Harold, show me the place," Martin said.
Hearing that, Harold nodded his head and began to observe the surroundings. He knew that only this part of the border had a series of shade trees.
He recalled the call with Jeremy Night. He then began to lead the group. They crossed the border and stepped inside the unknown land.
He took them further inside the land. Harold was communicating with his lifeline beast. If there were higher-tier beasts nearby, they would be alerted.
City Governor Martin and the other two followed behind him. They trusted him, so they didn’t question his decisions.
Seeing him proceed without hesitation, they believed in him even more. Soon, Head Harold stopped in front of a huge bedrock.
Martin followed the gaze of Head Harold. Seeing Head Harold looking down at the ground, he spread his senses as well.
The other two Governors did the same. It didn’t take long for them to find the hideout.
Martin’s eyes flashed with a cold glint. He didn’t expect a base to be located here. The place was quite a distance away from the border. No one had predicted this.
He then looked toward Head Harold. If not for Head Harold, they wouldn’t have found the place.
Swoosh!
He landed in front of the hideout. Head Harold and the other two Governors appeared next. They found out that no one was present inside the hideout.
They had already communicated with their lifeline beasts. Next, they opened the door and entered.
They found the hideout empty. No one was inside, but they came across evidence of their presence.
They saw many notes and maps. Martin and the others picked up the notes and went through them. Martin understood that it was real. There was no falsehood in them.
"Head Harold, you were right. It was indeed their hideout," Martin said.
The other two Governors agreed with that. They saw the evidence with their own eyes.
"We should not waste time reporting to the higher-ups. The lords in the Human Alliance should know about it," Martin said.
"I’m afraid we have too little time. The Beast Powder could attract higher-tier beasts," Head Harold said with worry.
Hearing that, the other two Governors got serious as well.
Swoosh!
Next, they left the hideout. They didn’t destroy the hideout, but they collected the evidence.
After going back to the City Lord’s office, they decided to report to the Human Alliance. Since the Darkshade Organization dared to do something like this, only the Human Alliance could corner them.
...
Time passed.
It didn’t take long for the four hours to end. The machine stopped pouring out natural energy. The remaining energy began to disappear as well.
20 minutes later,
Jeremy Night opened his eyes. His eyes flashed with a little disappointment. He had thought he could reach the limit today, but it didn’t happen.
Fortunately, the unknown beast egg was able to absorb some energy. He stood up, went to the console, and turned off the switch.
Creak!
Next, he opened the door and walked out. He began to look for the common facility and went to the washroom to freshen up.
20 minutes later,
He appeared outside the training facility. His practice had gone well. Next, he found a cab and headed toward the Red Moon Chamber.
The cab departed from the location. Jeremy Night watched the passing scenery through the window.
The city was calm, yet busy at the same time. It reminded him of old memories. Soon, the cab reached the Red Moon Chamber.
The guards allowed the cab to enter.
Swoosh!
The cab came to a stop in front of the building. When it came to a halt, he stepped out and paid the fare to the driver.
Once the cab left, he turned his attention toward the building. He walked up to the door and went inside.
He entered the lobby and looked around. He saw the Red Moon Chamber members going about their business. He saw many new faces.
A couple of them recognized him. They were shocked, but they didn’t come to talk to him. He simply nodded to them.
He then turned toward the front office. The staff inside were new faces as well. He took out his device and called Sister Melinda.
When she answered the call, he told her that he had arrived. Melinda was surprised. She ended the call and decided to meet him in person right away.
