Chapter 106 - 47: Local Guide David, First Stop: Purple Mountain
Shen Yanzhi nodded. "It really is nice."
The two of them listened to music and chatted all the way to the hotel.
Valets and bellhops were waiting at the entrance to park their car and handle their luggage. Shen Yanzhi didn’t even have to lift a finger, simply taking Jiang Li’s hand and leading her into the lobby.
He walked up to the front desk and handed over their IDs. "Hello, I booked a room online. Could you please check us in?"
The receptionist, a cute girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, gave them a sweet smile. "Of course. Please wait a moment."
After typing on her computer for a moment, she handed back their IDs and a key card. "Mr. Shen, Miss Jiang, welcome. This is your room key; please keep it safe."
With that, she called out to a waiting bellhop, "Room 1826."
The bellhop service included bringing the luggage up to and into the room.
Shen Yanzhi thanked them and tucked the IDs into his pocket. "Let’s go. Off to the bridal shop."
Perhaps at the thought of wearing a wedding dress soon, Jiang Li was practically buzzing with excitement on the way there.
But when they arrived at the shop, she found herself hesitant to go inside, overcome with the kind of nervous anticipation one feels before a long-awaited moment.
Shen Yanzhi finished parking the car and, seeing Jiang Li lingering, took her hand. "Come on."
Jiang Li snapped out of her daze and followed Shen Yanzhi’s lead as they walked into the shop together.
As soon as they entered, a sales associate came over to greet them. Jiang Li immediately stated her needs, "Hello, I’d like to rent a few wedding dresses and some props for a photoshoot."
The sales associate paused for a moment, then gestured. "Of course. Right this way, please."
Even though the wedding dresses were for rent, they were all immaculate, without a single stain.
Jiang Li asked for Shen Yanzhi’s opinion. "Which one do you think is the prettiest?"
A glint appeared in Shen Yanzhi’s eyes. "I think anything you wear will be beautiful."
He had imagined what Jiang Li would look like in a wedding dress more times than he could count.
The heavens had shown him mercy. Jiang Li had married him, and now she was going to wear a wedding dress for him.
He got excited just thinking about it.
Forget a wedding dress—she would look beautiful even if she were draped in a burlap sack.
Jiang Li shot Shen Yanzhi a playful glare. "Oh, stop it."
Shen Yanzhi replied with a straight face, "I’m just stating a fact. Don’t weaponize your looks."
Jiang Li gave up and turned to the sales associate for help. "This is my first time picking out a wedding dress. Do you have any recommendations?"
The sales associate looked Jiang Li up and down. "Ma’am, with your looks and figure, I think you could pull off any one of these dresses perfectly."
’An exquisite face, a perfectly proportioned figure...’ She was starting to get a little envious of Shen Yanzhi. How did he manage to marry such a beautiful woman?
Upon hearing this, Shen Yanzhi acted as if he’d just found his greatest ally. He spread his hands and said, "See? She says so too."
Jiang Li’s lips twitched in resignation. In the end, she chose five wedding dresses, each with a different style.
They say the man is just a backdrop in wedding photos, so Jiang Li only picked two outfits for Shen Yanzhi.
One of those was only because she had chosen a traditional gown with a phoenix crown, which wouldn’t match a Western suit. Otherwise, he would have only gotten a single outfit.
They had just finished making their selections and hadn’t paid yet when a call came from David. "Miss Jiang, I’m here. Have you two arrived?"
Jiang Li instinctively looked around, finally spotting him and waving. "I’m over here!"
David looked over, a flicker of stunned admiration in his eyes. He hadn’t expected this client to be so beautiful.
"Miss Jiang."
Jiang Li immediately linked arms with Shen Yanzhi. "This is my husband, Mr. Shen."
David extended his hand. "Mr. Shen, I’m David. It’s a pleasure."
Shen Yanzhi returned the handshake. "The pleasure is mine. Thank you for your help over the next couple of days."
The rental fee and security deposit for the five wedding dresses and props came to a total of forty thousand.
After paying and collecting their items, the three of them headed out.
Knowing that the couple wanted a travel photoshoot, David asked, "Do you have any particular places in mind?"
Before Shen Yanzhi could answer, Jiang Li chimed in, "Neither of us is familiar with the area. Do you have any recommendations?"
David was a bit exasperated but offered his professional advice nonetheless. "If your main focus is the wedding photos, I’d suggest Deli Manor. If you’re mainly here to sightsee, then anywhere is fine."
Jiang Li suddenly remembered something and looked at Shen Yanzhi. "Ah Yan, didn’t you research a whole itinerary?"
Shen Yanzhi replied nonchalantly, "With him here, I don’t think we’ll need one."
David was a local guide, after all; he was bound to be extremely familiar with the area.
If they still needed a pre-planned itinerary, it would mean he wasn’t doing his job as their guide.
David snapped his fingers. "Ah, I get it. You’re mainly here to travel, and the wedding photos are just a bonus."
