That Ordinary Mister is a War God

13. Secret Landscape

Meena moves in as she predicts when Bal will be back at home.

Today it was dressed as a white apron in a made-up garment based on black.

"Oh, are you going to cook dinner?

"Yes, because I didn't think I'd have it today."

Meena had grasped his behavioral patterns and decided that if she came this time of day, she could sift through handicrafts.

"Let's get thankful"

Bal decided to be sweet in favor again today.

The kitchen in his house is small, neither of us can stand at the same time, and the kitchen and the eating room have to be separated.

The room on which they eat is also about six square meters.

This is common to a house in a second-degree area, which did not mean he chose another poor house.

Meena cooks to cross noses with permission.

Bal thinks her hindsight is pretty good.

"With that said, Meena, you made a donation to the ambulance?

"Yeah. I thought I'd give it to you, but I'm not willing to pretend I don't know more than I know that Master Bal is doing it."

Meena's answer was inconvenient.

"Looking at that, I don't think His Majesty's measures have been taken yet. Perhaps there's more out of reach than spinning a big organization of figures called the State."

Bal wonders if there are limits to God's own politics.

"I think it's the role of the state to respond to it."

Meanwhile, Meena returns that it is also the role of the state to solve it.

I chose a very moderate word because my opponent is him, but it doesn't change my attitude to push the emperor away.

It would also be a nod for the emperor to have recognised him as "highly temperamental and difficult."

"Surely it's not a good idea to have no choice. I'm sure some people need state support but haven't arrived, and I need you to do your best."

Bal also admits that she has a point in her mind again.

It seems really difficult to run a state, and I don't think he wants to be involved anymore.

"Thank you for waiting"

Meena serves the dishes on a silver plate she brings before bringing them.

It's a luxurious menu like the first to be seen if you don't go to a first class area full of vegetables: soup, steamed shellfish, grilled fish and monster bird herb wrap.

Her magic prevents smells and other things from leaking outside the house, but otherwise a neighbor who noticed the smell might have arrived.

The flavour is diluted taking into account Bal's preferences.

"Thank you, Meena. I'm not wearing a kettle, but I'd love to have some fruit."

When he reluctantly made the request, Meena replied with a grin.

"I thought you said that, so we have apples and bananas"

"Thanks!"

If he thanks again, she smiles happily.

It's like a couple of landscapes, but none of those who know this equals none.

They taste the food silently and amicably.

Saw Meena eating a munchkin and weird bird herb wrap, Bal said.

"I didn't know the elves would eat meat until I met Meena."

"I didn't know the elves were supposed to be meat-eating creatures, either."

She also finally speaks out because he spoke to her.

As you can see from this interaction, elves usually eat meat, too.

"It's just that we don't kill unnecessarily, we may give it to animals who want food in consideration of their ecosystems, but how long was the phantom born?"

Bal nods to Meena's words.

"I guess it changed and passed on that we may share the meat of the beast we killed to other beasts. Probably."

"It's only part of balancing, so we eat ourselves when we don't have a beast to share. The fact that no one feeds the animals they kill is what elves should avoid."

"... you're hurting my ears"

Bal snapped with a strange face.

Preparing and disposing of inedible dishes is done by the Imperial nobles to boast of their financial strength and strength.

It's an unforgivable act from an elf, because it's not inevitable, it's done intentionally.

It's not like Meena has no reason to be harsh on the Emperors either.

"How can Master Bal not be stopped?

She had begun to wonder, so he decided to answer.

"Because when nobility stops squandering, the commoners get poorly fed. There's a side of the world where nobles can feed their families by buying large quantities."

For better or worse, the economy of the Empire is supported by nobles and millionaires.

When they refrain from consuming, the domestic economy gets worse, and it is the weak common people who are the first to be affected.

"Whether they say it's an adventure for life or not, it's a priority to feed our fellow countrymen first."

"... I understand for a moment that it is not a futile foolishness that means nothing"

Meena says with a strange look.

"Neither are we perfect. To protect our compatriots, to protect our ecosystems, because of our immaturity, we inevitably mow our lives. It's a good study."

"There will unfortunately be no more sincerely confronted with life than Meena. In that respect, man is not yet an elf."

Bal shrugged his shoulder.
