Chapter 722 - 389: Long Time No See (Part 2)
Unlike the dangers he had faced before, the depths of Broken Armor were filled with a dead silence. This place seemed to have become a dead zone, devoid of any living creatures, and one could easily lose their way.
However, Yang An had already gotten his bearings upon his return, so he immediately set off, heading even deeper.
A quarter of an hour later, having found nothing, Yang An had no choice but to enter the 6th Floor again.
He had already shaken off the Cultivators who were tracking him. He appeared in a dimly lit area, not as bustling as the places he’d passed through before. There were basically no pedestrians on the streets.
Looking at the scene before him, Yang An suddenly had a feeling that the place he was looking for might not be far off.
’Where is it?’
Yang An quickly leaped onto a relatively low roof. He scanned the area, then quickly jumped down and ran to another rooftop.
The feeling grew stronger. This place looked somewhat familiar. ’It’s nearby!’
"He’s appeared! Near the Ghost Tower!"
The Cultivators still searching for Yang An throughout the city all heard the voice in their earpieces at the same time.
The guy had vanished for over ten minutes, only to inexplicably reappear near the Ghost Tower.
"The Ghost Tower? What’s he trying to do? Does he have a death wish?"
The Cultivators were completely baffled, unable to guess what Yang An’s objective was.
This world had Cultivators and Mutants, but one area in this city held an even more incomprehensible presence.
It was a place called the Ghost Tower, which was actually an abandoned, old-fashioned residential complex.
It was called the Ghost Tower because, a few years prior, rumors began to circulate that the place was haunted. The phenomena grew more and more intense, causing all the residents to quickly move out.
At first, Cultivators suspected a new Mutant might have appeared and was causing trouble. But after repeated investigations, they found no trace of any Mutants. Instead, they encountered paranormal events themselves, and several Cultivators inexplicably disappeared in the area, vanishing into thin air.
Even the powerful Cultivators sent by the Cultivator Alliance to investigate came back empty-handed.
From that point on, the area became known as the Ghost Tower. It was placed under strict control by the city administration, and no one was permitted to enter.
This unknown, supernatural force was even more terrifying than the appearance of Mutants.
"Do we still go after him?"
"We do! We have to figure out what that guy is up to. But if he dares enter the Ghost Tower, we’ll just wait outside. If he comes out, we capture him. If he doesn’t... well, him dying in there would be for the best."
The lead Cultivator made an immediate decision. Using the same pollutant as before to boost their power, they sped toward the Ghost Tower.
’Is this the place?’
He looked at the old residential buildings before him. A desolate air hung over everything. The place was completely abandoned. The vegetation was overgrown and lush, large patches of the walls had crumbled away, and the gates were covered in rust.
Yang An studied it carefully several times before he could finally match it to the memory of Pan Yu’s Illusion Realm.
’That’s right, this is the place!’
He was finally certain, and joy filled his heart.
He didn’t know why the place had ended up like this, but since it was identical to his memory, it meant Pan Yu’s Illusion Realm had merged with the 6th Floor. Pan Yu was very likely inside.
With no time for further thought, Yang An leaped into the complex.
The wild grass was already taller than a man, but Yang An had been here before. Even with his vision obscured, he knew exactly where to go.
A0505!
Block A, Building 5, the Fifth Floor!
He remembered the number from his memory. Pan Yu was in room 510, on the Fifth Floor.
He cut a deep path through the tall grass, quickly arriving at his destination.
Staring at the building before him, he recalled that, if his memory served him right, he had encountered some invisible monsters in the stairwell last time.
However, with his current strength, he could easily annihilate those monsters if he encountered them again. They were just too weak.
So, more than the possibility of monsters, Yang An was worried about attracting the Cultivators. He had to be quick.
Yang An immediately entered the stairwell. Using the rusty handrail for leverage, he vaulted up several flights in a few bounds, quickly reaching the Fifth Floor.
Through a window, Yang An saw his pursuers. There were three Cultivators in total, and they were fast. Strangely, though, they didn’t enter the complex. Instead, they stopped on a rooftop just outside.
"He went in."
"We’ll wait for him here. He has to come out eventually. In the meantime, call for reinforcements and surround the perimeter of the Ghost Tower. We won’t give him any chance to escape this time."
Having also spotted Yang An through a window, the Cultivators exchanged a glance and decided to lie in wait.
Yang An paid them no mind. If they weren’t coming in, all the better.
He walked slowly to the door of room 510 and knocked gently. Behind him, innumerable White Feathers bristled, poised to strike. If anything seemed amiss, they would instantly obliterate whatever appeared before him.
Strangely, however, after several knocks, there was no response. It was as if the room was completely empty.
