Chapter 611 - 349: All Are Equal (3)
The ground beneath its feet gave way, and the Great Buddha’s colossal body immediately fell into the abyssal maw, nearly half of it sinking inside.
Although the Three-legged Cauldron behind it was still spewing flames, the fire couldn’t reach the subterranean ghost face, as it was diverted by several whirlwinds.
He had unleashed such formidable power, battering countless Demon Fiends until they couldn’t fight back. But when the Great Demon of the Insect Dao made its move, Forbidden Calamity was ultimately no match for it.
Just as half of the Great Buddha’s body was about to be devoured, Forbidden Calamity prepared to call out to Yang An, but Yang An’s voice suddenly echoed in his ears.
"Master, escape!"
’Escape?’
The moment he heard Yang An’s voice, Forbidden Calamity acted without a shred of hesitation, though he didn’t understand the intention. The Great Buddha surrounding Liu Feifei’s body disintegrated into a mass of foul flesh and blood, and he piloted her body in a swift flight toward Nirvana City.
At the same time, an arrow suddenly appeared, silent and traceless, trailing a brilliant tail over ten meters long. It shot straight into the abyssal maw of the ghost face.
It was a good thing Forbidden Calamity hadn’t hesitated to withdraw in time.
The instant he entered the sanctuary of Nirvana City, protected by four Buddhas, a blinding light erupted behind him, soaring into the heavens.
The light was silent, but the spectacle was no less than the sun crashing onto the plains and instantly detonating in a world-destroying explosion.
The instant the light erupted, the ghost face that had swallowed the arrow was pierced by countless rays of light. Like a volcanic eruption, it was instantly overwhelmed, its form dissolving into countless Yin Souls that were silently annihilated within the light.
Yet, after annihilating the ghost face, new rays of light shot out from the glare. They were like a swarm of birds blanketing the sky, turning blood-red in an instant. At an unimaginable speed, they pierced through the fleeing Demon Fiends. A chain of explosions followed, as if meteors were crashing into the earth, and the entire land began to tremble violently.
In that moment, regardless of whether they were fast or slow, the Demon Fiends were all turned to ash before they could even react. The ash danced in the air, and even the foul stench from their bodies was instantly eliminated, leaving nothing behind.
Forbidden Calamity stood once again upon the walls of Nirvana City. As the aftershock of the light’s explosion washed over them, the countless Buddhist Mantras and the four Golden Buddha Statues protecting the city were instantly melted through, leaving a gaping hole in the defenses.
Fortunately, it was only the aftershock. If the light had spread just a little farther, half of Nirvana City would likely have been destroyed with it.
He finally understood why Yang An had told him to escape. It wasn’t out of fear that the ghost face would devour him, but that he wouldn’t escape the light in time and would be annihilated with everything else.
Before that light, all beings were equal—Demon Fiend and Monk alike.
When the blinding light shone on Liu Feifei’s face, the aftershock was at its absolute weakest. Even so, her body was instantly charred black and utterly desiccated.
A primal fear of death, welling up from the depths of her soul, forced the body back several steps, even under Forbidden Calamity’s control.
"Benefactor, next time you decide to act, I must trouble you to give this old monk a bit more warning."
"Rest assured, Master. There won’t be a next time."
Though wearing a mask, Yang An didn’t conceal his apologetic tone as he suddenly appeared behind Liu Feifei.
His gaze was fixed on the distant figure of the Great Demon of the Insect Dao, who appeared to be equally stunned by the spectacle.
’Today, none of them are leaving here alive!’
