Chapter 81 - 80: Playing Train

She nudged Leo Grant with her elbow, motioning for him to look over.

"What is it?" Leo Grant followed her gaze and raised an eyebrow with amusement.

It was Silas Lynch. Nina Jennings had teased him until his face was beet red, and now he was covering his ears and spinning in place.

Nina Jennings was still following right behind him, chattering on about something.

He wasn’t walking away, just circling within that small area.

The two of them looked like they were caught in a supernatural maze, about to wear a hole in the floor.

Yvonne Lowell clicked her tongue. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I get the feeling Silas Lynch is actually enjoying this. He’s not willing to take even half a step away."

Leo Grant’s eyes darkened a bit. "I think so, too."

’I’m not! I didn’t! Don’t spread rumors! I’m just worried the boss will need me for something later.’

Just as Yvonne Lowell and Leo Grant were getting into the show, that big goofball Warren Lynch suddenly walked over and ruined the atmosphere the moment he opened his mouth.

"Miss Jennings, are you and Forrest playing a game of follow-the-leader? With just the two of you, though, it’s hard to tell who the engine is."

"Pfft." Yvonne Lowell couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Even Leo Grant’s eyes crinkled with a smile.

Silas Lynch’s face soured. He shot Warren an annoyed glare and quickly strode away.

Nina Jennings was still shouting after him, "Sid, remember to help me move my things later!"

...

After dinner, Silas Lynch showed up after all, helping Nina Jennings move her boxes with Warren Lynch.

Leo Grant watched the grand operation and raised an eyebrow. "Is she planning to clean out your entire family fortune?"

"How is that possible? It’s all her own stuff. It just got delivered this afternoon." Yvonne Lowell stood beside him with her arms crossed.

"I can tell she’s determined to win over Silas Lynch," Leo Grant said with a chuckle.

"Yup. She said if she can’t win him over, she’s not leaving. So she decided to chase her man while also focusing on her career."

Hearing this, Leo Grant shot her a mock-reproachful look. ’Why can’t she learn a thing or two from Nina?’

’She always flirts and runs, only taking responsibility for the teasing but not for the relationship. She won’t even make things official with him.’

Noticing his gaze, Yvonne Lowell turned to look at him. "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing. I just think her courage is admirable. That kind of spirit is worthy of praise and emulation," Leo Grant said nonchalantly, looking up at the ceiling.

"Tch. Well, you can take your time praising and emulating her. I’m going up to take a shower."

Leo Grant’s brow furrowed with worry. "Be careful, and don’t get the wound wet again. Call me when you’re done so I can change your dressing."

"If you’re going to change the dressing anyway, why does it matter if it gets wet?"

Leo Grant shot her an exasperated look. "Are those two things even remotely the same?"

"Relax, I know. If you’re busy, you can head back first. I can have Old Man Jennings do it later," Yvonne Lowell said, getting up.

Leo Grant pressed his lips together. "I’m not busy. I’ll wait for you."

Yvonne Lowell headed upstairs, giving him an ’OK’ sign over her shoulder.

...

After her shower, Yvonne Lowell walked to the top of the stairs and found a certain someone still sitting on her sofa.

She whistled at him. "My dear consort, your Emperor is ready."

Leo Grant gave a helpless smile, stood up, and headed upstairs. "Coming."

He took the first-aid kit from the cabinet, unwrapped the bandage on Yvonne Lowell’s shoulder, and his pupils contracted as he looked at her wound.

The wound wasn’t red or oozing at all; in fact, it was already showing slight signs of healing.

By any count, this was only the third day since she’d been injured.

When he changed her dressing yesterday, the wound had still looked gruesome and horrifying.

"How is it healing so fast?"

As the thought crossed his mind, Leo Grant voiced it out loud.

Yvonne Lowell glanced back at him. "What? You don’t want me to get better quickly?"

"No, it’s just... it feels a little magical. Overnight it’s..."

Yvonne Lowell picked up the special medicine from the side and showed it to him. "Here, it’s because of this."

’Plus, my natural healing ability is a tiny bit stronger than a normal person’s. Just a tiny, tiny bit.’

Leo Grant took the small, pure white porcelain bottle. He had indeed sprinkled a layer of this powder on her shoulder yesterday.

"What is this? I thought it was just ordinary anti-inflammatory powder."

"It’s a wound powder that Old Man Jennings whipped up himself based on a formula from an ancient text. The anti-inflammatory and healing effects are pretty decent."

’Anyway, there are no markings on the bottle, and Nina Jennings doesn’t sell this special medicine. It’s just for their own use.’

So Yvonne Lowell wasn’t worried that Nina Jennings’s cover would be blown.

Leo Grant couldn’t stop his mouth from twitching. ’You call this ’pretty decent’?’

’Have you seen the kind of injury you have?! Do you remember what that wound looked like yesterday?!’

’This isn’t ’pretty decent’! This is ’heaven-defying,’ ’wonderful,’ ’unbelievable’!!!!!!’

He first disinfected the wound for her, then sprinkled on another layer of powder, and finally bandaged it up.

"Alright, you’re all set. With this medicine, your recovery time should be half that of a normal person."

"Tsk, I’m liking your bandaging skills more and more, handsome." Yvonne Lowell looked at herself in the mirror again and again. "I’ll give you a five-star review. Next time I get hurt, I’ll have you wrap it again!"

Leo Grant shot her a sharp look. "Can’t you just come find me normally? Are you actually hoping to get hurt?! No more getting injured!"

"Okay, okay, I get it." Yvonne Lowell pouted. "You’re such a mother hen."

He playfully tapped his forehead against hers. "Only for you."

...

「In the ’Happy Family’ live stream chat.」

[Just finished work, time to slack off! Fam, is our girl still not here today?]

[If she were home, she’d probably be vegging out on the couch with Brother Harrison by now.]

[Day 12 without our girl. Miss her. Can’t stop thinking about her.]

[The live stream ends tomorrow. I wonder if she’ll even show up again.]

[Sigh, her friend’s injury must be pretty serious. That’s why she can’t get away.]

[I feel like with her gone, even watching Brother Harrison isn’t as fun anymore.]

[Yeah, that man is getting more and more annoying to look at.]

[HOLY CRAP! Look at the door!!! AHHH!!]

[THAT WOMAN HEARD OUR DEVOUT PRAYERS!!!]

[Speak of the devil!! Ahh, our girl is as beautiful as ever!!]

[The hot girl with purple hair next to her is gorgeous too!! Is that our girl’s bestie?! [Drooling]]

Yvonne Lowell had been cooped up at Tidalview for nearly ten days and felt like mushrooms were about to sprout from her head.

Nina Jennings had already removed her stitches today, leaving just a thin piece of gauze over the wound.

So she figured it was time to go back. Her dad had been indirectly asking about her in messages several times, and her brother’s variety show only had a few days left.

On a whim, she dragged Nina Jennings along and drove back to the Lowell family villa.

The moment the two of them had changed their shoes and stepped into the living room, they were grabbed by the throat of fate.
