Chapter 1762 - 1767: Searching for the Warehouse
"Lin Fei, you think this world is way too simple! Do you have any idea how big the forest is? And do you know where exactly its egg disappeared? You don’t even know what you’re looking for! There’s only one possibility, and that’s wasting time, got it?" Little Black said, clearly not supportive of Lin Fei helping to find the snake egg.
Hiss!
The mother snake was clearly displeased with Little Black’s comment. Little Black said coldly, "Don’t get cocky with this dragon, otherwise this dragon will spray you to death with dragon breath!"
Lin Fei chuckled, "Little Black, it’s no big deal, after all, we’re all looking for things, and he’s looking for an egg; why not travel together? Besides, I know a place that might have news about the snake egg."
"What place? Do you have a target?" Little Black looked at Lin Fei in confusion; if there was a target, it could save a lot of time; otherwise, it would just be a waste of time.
"There should be, after all, there’s only one possibility, and that’s the nearby Heavenly Commerce City!" Lin Fei said.
"Heavenly Commerce City? Are you serious? How are you sure that place is most likely?" Little Dragon asked, puzzled.
"It’s just possible. If it’s egg theft, there’s a good chance it’s humans. If it’s humans, where do you think they’d go? Why would they steal the egg?" Lin Fei asked.
"Steal the egg for... some kind of tonic?!" Little Black said in horror.
Lin Fei was speechless, "Can you stop joking around?"
"Hehe, just kidding, humans usually tame demon beasts, so it’s very likely they could be tamed," Little Black explained.
Lin Fei nodded, "Exactly, they could very likely be tamed, so if they want to tame them, they must find a buyer, but it doesn’t exclude that they might keep them for fun."
"So you’re planning to go to the nearby Heavenly Commerce City?" Little Black asked.
"That’s right. I’m planning to go there anyway. Having this target is a good thing. By the way, big snake, don’t follow too closely; we might find those egg thieves along the way," Lin Fei said.
"When we find the egg thieves, then it’s not too late to come closer," Little Black also said.
The big snake actually nodded, and the wind it stirred up wasn’t small.
"Let’s go; we’ll check out the Heavenly Commerce City first," Lin Fei said, and headed towards the direction of Heavenly Commerce City, his speed increasing constantly. The demon beast big snake behind seemingly worried that Lin Fei and company were deceiving it, so it followed closely.
Lin Fei was unconcerned, not saying much more, but he indeed saw nobody along the way, meaning they didn’t encounter any egg thieves. Lin Fei finally arrived at Heavenly Commerce City.
This Heavenly Commerce City was truly magnificent, at least much grander than Fenglin City and Sky Wolf City combined. Overall, Heavenly Commerce City was newer and from the outside, one could hear the bustling noise from inside. Not only that, but there were also large open spaces around, which were obviously meant to deter demon beast invasions.
If a demon beast entered this area, it would surely be shot full of holes by long arrows, dead beyond dead.
That’s why such open spaces were set up.
At that moment, Lin Fei walked on the open space, looking around to see people carrying hemp bags, with blood stains all over them, clearly hunters returning from hunting trips, fully loaded. Some looked solemn; it wasn’t hard to tell that someone might have died, otherwise, there wouldn’t be such sadness and seriousness on their faces.
Lin Fei and his companions arrived at the gate of Heavenly Commerce City, and surprisingly, no one was there to manage it. Lin Fei and company entered the city without difficulty.
Only after entering the city did Lin Fei understand the true meaning of Heavenly Commerce City. Seeing the endless stream of people in front of him, all engaged in trading, each extremely busy, these things were earned with their lives, so they cherished them very much, cherishing them even more.
Upon entering the city, the outskirts were full of vendors. Lin Fei made his way into the inner city, where the regular residents lived, and found an inn to stay at. As for the big snake, it was already waiting outside the city gates.
Of course, it was in the forest.
Once Lin Fei arrived here, he decided to gather some intelligence first, at least not act blindly, right?
The final bit of news he got was that the City Lord of this Heavenly Commerce City was named Zhou Yu, a formidable figure, and every month, a batch of treasures would be prepared for auction!
The next auction was set to take place in three days, which made Lin Fei even more suspicious. Did these events have anything to do with the egg thieves? Lin Fei decided to investigate thoroughly.
So, he quietly made his way to the City Lord Mansion after nightfall. The gates of the City Lord Mansion were heavily guarded! Still, Lin Fei managed to climb over the wall, only to find himself standing amid a trap-laden walkway, unsure of where to step next.
"Little Black, could you maybe take me across?" Lin Fei suggested.
"No way! This dragon declines. This dragon is by no means a ride!" Little Black replied.
"Oh, come on, it’s not like you haven’t given me a ride before. Hurry, or else more guards will come our way!" Lin Fei urged.
Upon hearing Lin Fei’s words, Little Dragon finally capitulated, nodding and coming under Lin Fei’s feet. "Just don’t step on anything else!"
"Got it."
Lin Fei settled atop Little Dragon, who then flew him to a distant spot.
Just before a team of guards could discover them, they reached a hidden location and took cover.
As the guards passed by, Lin Fei asked, "We’ll each look separately and find out where the City Lord Mansion’s warehouse is, got it?"
Hearing Lin Fei’s words, Little Fire and Little Black both nodded, agreeing to meet back here after splitting up. They swiftly vanished into the night.
Lin Fei searched persistently, yet after a long hunt, he still hadn’t located the Treasure Pavilion, and the City Lord Mansion was really huge—immensely so. He continued his rapid search and, after an hour, ended up back where he started.
Little Black was already waiting, and when Lin Fei returned, he asked, "Did you find it?"
"Find what?" Little Black retorted, perplexing Lin Fei.
"The warehouse!" Lin Fei said exasperatedly; how could he have forgotten?
"Warehouse? Nope, no warehouse, but I did find a Treasure Pavilion with loads of goodies, though it was sealed shut." Little Black boasted, seemingly satisfied with his discovery.
Lin Fei was speechless, "Are you sure there are treasures? If it’s sealed, how do you know there are treasures inside?"
Just then, another group came by, passing through the dark corner where Lin Fei and his companions were hiding.
