Chapter 70: Nexus Recruits White as a Disciple
Seeing Nexus and the system beside him, White immediately rubbed her eyes. For the first time, she suspected that her special eyes were broken.
But after rubbing her eyes and looking again, she found that nothing had changed. This left her completely unable to understand what was going on.
"How is that possible? There should at least be something. Why is it that when I look at both him and that screen floating in the air, I can’t see anything except an outer shell? Is he even human?"
White’s special eyes allowed her to see through everything. It wasn’t the kind of seeing through clothes, but directly ignoring the clothes and the outside of the body to see the internal organs and every other detail inside the body. Even energy that was difficult to assess with the naked eye could be easily seen clearly by her.
But when she looked at Nexus and the system, she couldn’t see anything except the outer shell. She had never encountered a situation like this before.
Even when looking at the highest-level monster or an SS-rank hunter that didn’t give her a very clear result, she could still see most of it, unlike this complete blank.
"Your special eyes can’t see them, right? That’s normal."
Ziz knew exactly what White’s eyes could do, and he knew exactly what White would see when she looked at him.
This ability seemed quite extraordinary, but Ziz didn’t care at all. There wasn’t a single ability of mortals that could make him take notice, because the difference in level between mortals and him was simply too great.
"Why?"
Seeing how calm Ziz was, White also became curious about the reason. Maybe after knowing the reason, she would have a way to improve her ability?
"If a stupid mortal like you behaves yourself, I’ll tell you. First, let me go."
Ziz thought he would definitely succeed, but who would have thought that after hearing his request, White would squeeze Ziz even harder.
"Hmph, if you don’t want to tell me, then forget it. I’ll just ask him myself."
Although she wasn’t sure who the power just now belonged to, White guessed that the answer was only one of the two strange existences in front of her. One was that strange screen, and the other was the young-looking man, though she wasn’t sure if he was even human.
Although White’s eyes couldn’t see through the system and Nexus, she could at least tell that the two of them were two independent existences.
"The strong one in your head doesn’t exist. Among the three of us, I’m the only one capable of fighting. Nexus is the weakest mortal; even an F-rank is stronger than him. As for the system, although it’s somewhat special and possesses great power, its combat power is zero."
"Are you kidding me?"
White frowned as she looked at Ziz. Her gaze was focused as if she wanted to find something suspicious, but unfortunately, she couldn’t find anything.
"I look down on lying in front of mortals. Nexus is the only human useless enough to awaken a unique G-rank. His ability is having no ability at all."
Ziz was indeed not lying, but he really did have a plan. Ziz was deliberately lowering Nexus as much as possible just to make White more likely to attack. As long as White attacked Nexus, he would immediately gain the power to beat her up badly.
White frowned as she looked at Ziz, then looked at Nexus and the system... Indeed, neither of them gave off even the slightest feeling of danger.
"G-rank... Ah, I remember now. It seems someone from the Wolf guild had this situation before, but Bell told everyone outside that he was F-rank, not G-rank. How interesting. Just how weak is G-rank?"
Feeling that everything was becoming more and more reasonable, along with her own instincts telling her that there was no danger, White became even more confident.
She flew straight toward Nexus and the system, then held Ziz up in front of the two of them. Seeing that both of them were stunned but didn’t have any major reaction, she spoke.
"You’re Ziz’s master, right?"
Nexus simply nodded once. His eyes glanced at her before looking at Ziz lying helplessly in the palm of her hand like a powerless chicken.
[Hahahaha, you stupid fat chicken, you finally got humiliated. I have to take a picture of this. A beautiful scene like this isn’t easy to find. The lord of the sky, Ziz, lying helplessly in the palm of a mortal. What a huge joke!]
Unlike Nexus, the system seemed to have been waiting for this moment for a long time and immediately burst out laughing. Of course, taking pictures meant taking them from every angle to showcase the ’mighty’ appearance of the lord of the sky.
"How dare you?! Damn system! One day, I’ll destroy you!"
Ziz was so angry that his feathers puffed up, but no matter how hard he struggled, he couldn’t escape from White’s palm, giving the system even more unique pictures to take.
Seeing the system and Ziz making such a mess, White’s eyelids twitched a few times. But she still tried to focus on the main issue.
"Ziz is very dangerous. Keeping him beside someone as weak as you is dangerous. I’m White, an S-rank hunter and a senior officer of the Hunter Association. I’m not stingy either. Just tell me how much money you want, and I’ll give it to you."
For a hunter as strong as White, making money wasn’t difficult. Normally, she didn’t care about this because the Hunter Association paid for everything anyway.
"I don’t need your money."
Nexus slowly shook his head. Although the movement was slow, he clearly wasn’t giving White or the Hunter Association any face.
"What?"
It was the first time someone who looked this harmless had rejected her, making White’s ears feel like they had temporarily gone deaf. Although she was a good person, even good people knew how to get angry. The main reason was that White wanted Ziz too badly; otherwise, she was normally a very easy person to talk to.
That’s right! Fight, fight, fight...
Seeing this scene, Ziz felt that his plan was only a few seconds away from succeeding. As long as White had the intention to attack Nexus, Ziz would immediately seize the initiative.
But everything turned out completely different from what Ziz had expected. Although White was a little annoyed, she was the friendly saintess everyone knew her as.
"Tsk, tell me. What do you want?"
"You’re not bad. Want to become my disciple?"
Although Nexus wasn’t particularly interested in White’s S-rank power, he was interested in the fact that she wanted to make Ziz her pet and had even successfully captured Ziz.
