"Clan Leader Miao, let’s not beat around the bush. Your villainous intentions are plain for all to see, so state your purpose. Don’t waste our breath and time with empty platitudes!" Yao Junxian scoffed, meeting Miao Yingjie’s extremely sinister gaze.

If the five Valley Guardian Elders hadn’t already left, how could the Miao Clan dare to be so brazen in the Medicine Valley? However, despite being at the peak of the Transformation Realm, Yao Junxian couldn’t afford to be arrogant when facing Miao Yingjie and the Gu Clan. The Gu insects were their absolute natural enemy. Unless a Medicine Valley member reached the half-step Gang Jin realm, they stood no chance. Even he, at the peak of the Transformation Realm, had no chance of victory against Miao Yingjie.

"Since you already see me as a villain, do I really need to spell it out? Haha! Valley Master Yao, it’s nothing much. I just want to borrow your Spiritual Medicine Garden to raise some Gu." Miao Yingjie plopped himself down into a chair with a coarse swagger, crossing his legs with an air of sinister, absolute certainty.

"Ridiculous!"

Before Yao Junxian could respond, an Elder beside him slammed the table, his face red with rage.

What the hell is the world coming to? Why is every stray dog coming to covet our Spiritual Medicine Garden? Do they really think the Medicine Valley is their personal backyard? Having to bow to Qin Fan, someone even the five Valley Guardian Elders had to defer to, was one thing. We could accept that. But the paltry Gu Clan? They dared to bully us like this too?

"Garbage! Who gave you the right to speak?" Miao Yingjie barked. As he spoke, he flicked his wrist, and a black, soybean-sized shadow shot toward the Elder.

"Be careful!"

At the last possible second, Yao Junxian leaped to his feet with a yell. The Elder twisted away with lightning speed, dodging the Gu insect’s direct attack. However, before he could catch his breath, the soybean-sized Gu had already circled around and landed on his head. Before he could even swat it away, it scurried into his ear in the blink of an eye.

"AH! No! Damn it, damn it! NO!" The instant the Gu burrowed into his body, the Elder began clawing at his face like a madman, howling hysterically. His features were completely contorted, veins bulging on his skin. His twisted face was a mask of excruciating pain.

Watching the Elder’s agonizing screams, Miao Yingjie blew a taunting whistle. Instantly, the Gu inside the Elder’s body ceased its activity, finally allowing the man to breathe.

"Don’t think your age gives you the right to be insolent! It’s not your place to interrupt my conversation with Valley Master Yao," Miao Yingjie said, casting a disdainful glance at the man.

Swallowing the humiliation, the Elder clenched his jaw and didn’t dare utter another word.

"Clan Leader Miao, aren’t you going to recall your Gu?" Yao Junxian demanded through gritted teeth, his face a livid mask of unprecedented fury.

"Recall it? That depends on your cooperation, Valley Master Yao," Miao Yingjie sneered. "You should know, if your Valley Guardian Elders were here, I might have to show some restraint. But now... Heh. As I see it, all of you are trash! So, whether you like it or not, the Medicine Valley *will* be lending me its Spiritual Medicine Garden. Of course, if you’d rather your disciples have some fun with my Gu Clan, that’s fine too. I brought about a thousand Gu with me this time. I wonder how many your people can handle?"

In the face of absolute power, what was the Medicine Valley? To him, they were nothing but trash! Without the five Valley Guardian Elders, the Medicine Valley was, frankly, his own personal backyard!

"Insolent! The Medicine Valley and the Miao Clan have been allies for three generations, a hundred-year friendship! And yet you come here today, behaving so atrociously and disregarding the bond between our clans!"

SLAP!

Yao Junxian slammed his hand on the table, his voice a hysterical roar.

It had to be said, the long years of peace had cooled Yao Junxian’s fighting spirit. He possessed the power of a Transformation Realm peak master. Even though the Gu Clan was their natural enemy, he at least had the strength to put up a fight. Yet here he was, resorting to talk of friendship and history. If the Gu Clan under Miao Yingjie’s rule cared about such things, would they have shown up like this? Would they have treated them with such contempt?

"Haha! Hahaha!" Hearing Yao Junxian’s appeal, Miao Yingjie threw his head back and roared with laughter. "Oh, Valley Master Yao! Should I call you naive or senile? Friendship? A hundred years over three generations? Have you never heard the saying, ’a new ruler means a new court’? The Gu Clan is *my* Gu Clan now. You want to talk about friendship with me? What friendship do we have? If you want to talk about old ties, go to the Netherworld and discuss them with my worthless father and grandfather! What the hell are you trying to discuss with me? Haha!"

"How could a man like ’the Dragon’ sire such a monstrous son!" Yao Junxian’s expression shifted drastically at the vicious mockery. He pointed a trembling finger at Miao Yingjie and continued, "Now I finally understand why he didn’t choose you as his successor! He must have seen through your wolfish, cruel nature long ago!"

WHOOSH!

At Yao Junxian’s words, the arrogant smile vanished from Miao Yingjie’s face, replaced by a chilling cold. His expression twisted with furious indignation. "What did you say?" he growled.

Without waiting for a reply, he continued to roar, "He was afraid my achievements would surpass his! That’s why he didn’t choose me! He was useless! It was him, and his precious Miao Haohao, who nearly doomed the Gu Clan to oblivion! What do you know? Huh? You don’t know a damn thing! If not for me, the Gu Clan would have been wiped from the face of the earth! It was I who allowed the Gu Clan to barely survive, and I who will lead it to unprecedented heights! Those pathetic former Clan Leaders are not worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as me! They are not worthy!"

As his hysterical roar faded, Miao Yingjie’s hands trembled and flew open.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Instantly, countless black dots scattered from his body, swarming toward the Medicine Valley members in the hall.

At this moment, Miao Yingjie was the very picture of a man unhinged by rage. Yao Junxian had plucked the most sensitive string in his heart. Despite being the Gu Clan’s leader, despite his Cultivation advancing by leaps and bounds, he had never overcome the deep-seated trauma of being passed over for succession. It was a permanent scar on his psyche. Worse still, he had only gained his current position through patricide. Yao Junxian’s words had been like someone stomping on his tail.
