The Shining Star Above The Heaven

Chapter 1270: Luring Him

All of them had died in places hidden from anyone’s eyes, with the fat man being the only exception since one person had seen him being assassinated.

Inside their own manors, on the streets, in the private rooms of restaurants, and within entertainment establishments, the bodies lay waiting for anyone unfortunate enough to find them.

The avatar continued killing according to the arrangement in his mind. At this moment, he had just received information that Valdis had been seen on his way to the Immortal’s Roses. He immediately made his way there, and the moment he arrived, he saw a group of members from the Remivas family.

He finally saw his target surrounded by a few guards.

A short blond-haired man dressed in noble attire with an arrogant expression on his face. In truth, he could be considered a handsome young man.

But at this moment, merely seeing his face was enough to make anyone want to punch it. The way he walked was as if he were the ruler of this place. Every step showed off his status as the son of a noble family.

Everyone who saw his group instantly moved aside. They knew who he was and what kind of person he was, so they did not want to offend him. He was already known for his sadistic character.

He could feel offended by even the slightest disturbance and would not hesitate to kill.

At one time, a man accidentally blocked his path after slipping and falling. Valdis immediately ordered his guards to beat that man to death.

There was also the case where he entered a brothel and felt dissatisfied with their service. Because of that, he killed several courtesans.

He never faced judgment because there was no one who dared to do so. As one of the young masters of the strongest family in this realm, there was no one willing to risk their life and their family’s future by offending him. Because of that, he acted however he wanted.

As Valdis continued nearing the Immortal’s Roses, suddenly—

Thack!

Someone actually threw a rock at him, but one of his guards caught it with a quick reaction. The people who witnessed it were shocked and instantly turned to look at the person who dared to do such a thing.

Valdis, who had never expected someone to throw a rock at him, looked at the person bold enough to do so.

He saw a cloaked figure with his head hidden beneath a hood. Despite his face being concealed by the darkness of the cloak, Valdis could see the figure’s lips.

The figure was smiling.

A bulging vein appeared on Valdis’s forehead as irritation rose within him. The people around him thought this person was already dead. How could someone be crazy enough to offend the fourth young master of the Remivas family?

"Drag that bastard to me," Valdis ordered.

One of his guards immediately carried out the command. Valdis had brought two guards with him, both Immortal Overlord cultivators. One was at Low Immortal Overlord Stage while the other was at Middle Immortal Overlord Stage.

They were more than enough to protect him from any disturbance in this place.

His weaker guard instantly moved, dashing toward the cloaked figure.

But before his hand could reach him, the figure abruptly retreated with surprising speed, causing the guard to miss his chance to catch him.

The guard was stunned for a moment before continuing the pursuit.

They kept moving until they became separated from Valdis and the other guard. Soon, they entered one of the alleys hidden from the sight of others.

Valdis, seeing that his guard could not catch even a single person, felt even more irritated and looked at his remaining guard.

"Catch that bastard! I want that bastard standing in front of me now!"

His remaining guard instantly moved to follow his colleague and the cloaked figure. He headed toward the alleyway under the gaze of many people. No one dared to follow them, and many deliberately ignored the matter and continued with their own activities.

However, after several minutes passed, Valdis still did not see either of his guards return, causing him to frown. Although he looked like an arrogant young master, he was not stupid. The fact that his guards had yet to come back meant that the figure was much stronger than he had initially thought.

He knew that something was wrong and intended to call for reinforcements.

But before he could do so, he saw one of his guards, the stronger one, returning to him. Valdis frowned even deeper, his displeasure evident on his face.

"Where is that bastard? Didn’t I tell you to drag that person here?" he asked.

"Please forgive me, Young Master, but it is better if you see it yourself. There is something strange about that person," the guard said with a bow.

Valdis frowned even deeper. This made him wonder what his guard meant by strange.

His curiosity got the better of him.

"Strange? Lead the way."

The guard immediately turned around and guided him toward the place where they had pursued the cloaked figure. The people who saw them paid no attention and continued with their own activities.

Valdis was led deeper into the alleyways. They took several turns and eventually reached an area where no one passed by.

Valdis began to feel that something was wrong with the path.

When they finally arrived at another alleyway, his eyes widened in shock.

He saw the corpses of his two guards lying on the ground with wounds on their foreheads. Their eyes remained wide open as if they could not believe they had died at that very moment.

Only then did he realize that he had been lured into a trap.

He immediately looked toward the "guard" who had led him there and, without hesitation, turned to flee.

At the same time, he attempted to activate a talisman inside his storage ring using his energy.

But before he could escape, his "guard" suddenly moved with a speed he could not follow and slashed at him.

Valdis saw his right hand, where his storage ring was, severed and thrown to the side.

"Arnghh—"

He wanted to scream in pain, but his "guard" had already covered his mouth. At the same time, the man stabbed him in the abdomen, right into his dantian.

His eyes trembled. Before he could even cough blood, the figure released his mouth.

Valdis tried to scream, only to realize that he could not move even an inch.

He could not move his lips. He could not move any part of his body, as though an invisible force held him firmly in place. The only sound that escaped him was a restrained groan from deep within his throat.

Blood flowed from the corner of his lips. His skin gradually turned pale, and his aura weakened. His cultivation at the Immortal Foundation Stage steadily declined as his dantian was destroyed by the dagger.

After several seconds of agony, Valdis managed to focus on the figure before him.

His "guard" had already changed appearance into a man he did not recognize. However, he immediately realized that this must be the same person who had thrown the rock at him earlier.

The man looked at him with a calm expression.

Without saying a word, he pulled the dagger from Valdis’s abdomen and slashed at his remaining arm.

Another agony surged through Valdis as he lost his second arm.

Yet he still could not open his mouth.

His suffering did not end there.

He suddenly felt something touch his crotch. Despite the overwhelming pain, he forced himself to glance down.

His pupils shrank.

The man was smiling as the bloodstained dagger rested against his dick.

It was as if the man wanted him to know exactly which part of his body he intended to target next.

He wanted to scream for help. He wanted to cry. He wanted to plead for mercy.

But he could not.

The only thing he saw before the next round of torture began was the man’s smile. It was a smile that looked utterly psychotic, as though he genuinely enjoyed watching others suffer in agony.

Ironically, it was the same smile Valdis himself often wore when torturing people to death.

That night, something gruesome happened in a deserted alleyway.

---------------------------------

For the next few hours, the avatar killed many more of his targets. After satisfying himself by torturing Valdis to death, he continued his killings until he decided it was enough.

He stopped for a moment on the rooftop of a building and looked toward the Remivas family’s mansion, which was visible even from his location.

Then he disappeared, intending to end the night’s show with one final shock.

Not long after that, the first victim of his assassinations was finally discovered.

"Help! Elder Lavs is dead! He’s dead! Somebody help!"

Then a second victim was found.

Then a third.

"Young Master Ivan has been assassinated! He’s dead!"

"Young Lord Armeris has been assassinated! Search for the killer!"

An uproar quickly spread across the city. As more and more victims were discovered, cultivators from many noble families immediately spread out to search for the assassin.

The sun had yet to rise, and the sky remained dark, but that did not stop them from searching every corner of the city for any trace of the culprit.

While the cultivators from the various families were still searching—

BOOM!

A massive explosion erupted from the direction of the Remivas family’s mansion.
