"Constantine Stewart, I don’t want to remarry you, you know that. Although I’m very poor, come from a low background, and am an orphan, I am also a real person of flesh and blood.
You’ve raised me up, and I’ve always remembered that. Since we’ve already reached this point, why not keep moving forward and start a new life? Isn’t it good? Why do we have to extinguish every last bit of affection?" She stared at him with her dark eyes, unflinchingly.
Constantine Stewart’s heart was aching with bitterness; all he wanted was for her to be his wife.
"No new life." The man’s voice was almost inaudible.
Constantine Stewart reached out, his long, fair fingers defined by clear joints, wanting to hold her hand. Yet he restrained himself from grasping it tightly; she didn’t understand that now she was his new life.
"Six months." The man looked up, speaking in a deep voice, "In these six months, don’t avoid me, move back to Fulham Road. I won’t force you to do anything. If you still want to leave after six months, I won’t entangle you. Words as proof."
Constantine Stewart felt a strong sense of crisis; Chloe Winston’s trust in Finnian made him panic. If Chloe continued being neighbors with Finnian, he didn’t know how things would develop.
He couldn’t think of any solutions now, except to make a desperate move.
Chloe Winston’s body trembled slightly, seeing the man’s deep and inscrutable gaze. Move back? Just endure for six months and she could regain her freedom?
"Are you serious?" Her voice was slightly hoarse, somewhat surprised.
"Yes." Constantine Stewart nodded.
Constantine Stewart had Nicholas Carter bring the agreement; it was simple. Chloe Winston would move back to Fulham Fortune’s private estate, and in six months, Constantine would gift her the house on Fulham Road, without interfering in her life.
The details were numerous, but mostly considerate of Chloe Winston’s position; the man seemed to only wish for someone to live together.
Constantine Stewart signed the agreement and handed the pen to her.
Chloe Winston understood Constantine Stewart’s character; he never gives up until he achieves his goal. Considering how he had been entangling her for the past few months, he had already shown great patience. Moreover, since Finnian hit him, though he had outwardly said he wouldn’t pursue it, should he not achieve his goal, he might enact revenge the very next day.
Constantine Stewart was never a man bound by rules.
She gripped the pen, her hand trembling slightly as she signed her name.
Six months of time in exchange for a lifetime of freedom, worth it!
No one spoke of Chloe Winston signing the agreement with Constantine Stewart. After the man left with the agreement, she sat silently in the small garden, feeling the evening breeze; her mind was like a fire burning, hot and red.
Constantine Stewart was someone who kept his promises, but she was a bit surprised. The man had always been accustomed to being assertive and never showed weakness.
And yet, this agreement posed no threat to her; she simply changed places and gained a new roommate.
Chloe Winston couldn’t quite grasp what he was thinking; she decided to adapt as the situation arose.
Because of Finnian and Constantine Stewart’s situation, she hadn’t even had the chance to congratulate Delphine on her new baby. She immediately brushed aside thoughts of the agreement and sent Delphine a message of congratulations.
Delphine had given birth to her second child, and Ignatius Leclair was as joyous as a youth. Kissing his son and then his wife, he enthusiastically took videos of the baby and sent them to Richard Shaw.
Since Leah became pregnant, Richard Shaw had been tense every day. Pregnancy is tough for a mother; even the slightest movement at night woke Richard, and while caring for Leah, he was both joyful and worried. If he’d known Leah’s pregnancy would be so difficult, he might not have wanted the child.
Whenever he awoke at night, he couldn’t easily go back to sleep, keeping watch over Leah lest she felt uncomfortable. Unable to sleep, Richard would naturally feel bored, which led him to frequently bother Ignatius.
Ignatius Leclair had been holding back a lot of frustration lately; once his son was born, his first thought was to show off in front of old Richard.
"My wife is pregnant too," Richard Shaw smiled.
"I have two sons and a little daughter," Ignatius Leclair said proudly.
After Delphine gave birth, Nathan Leclair had already taken Benjamin Leclair and Nicholas Carter on their way to London.
"Leah will definitely have a little daughter this time," Richard Shaw said, looking at the tender baby in the video, feeling anxious; Leah had another eight months to go, too long!
The two of them continued talking and the conversation shifted to the wedding.
"The wedding will be planned to take place in Southeast Asia, Delphine’s father is supposed to sail back, the old man is too old to fly long distances," Ignatius Leclair, now in high spirits, having three children, motivated Delphine to officially marry.
"We plan to hold the wedding next month," Richard Shaw announced, while Delphine was not yet visibly pregnant at three months, he could still fit into a wedding dress. Richard’s status was such that it was impossible to wait until after the child was born for the wedding.
In fact, they had already registered their marriage.
"Why didn’t you tell me?" Ignatius Leclair narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Just decided, this month will be busy, remember to come next month," Richard Shaw subconsciously smiled. "Please loan your pair of little ones to us as flower children."
"Discuss the appearance fee with Benjamin Leclair," Ignatius Leclair raised his brows with a smile. Fortunately, it’s next month, Delphine would be out of confinement and able to return home, but the little son is too young to go back just yet.
"Alright." The two satisfied men were eager to discuss wedding details, exchanging ideas and references.
Richard Shaw and Leah Squire’s wedding invitations went out half a month early, stunning the entire Imperial City.
