Chapter 249: Sick
While the cubs returned to the floor where they were, with Luna playing with her toys and Lune staring at his father and mother, Sunnie continued treating Eris.
She was adding the finishing touches to his injury as they both quietly stared into the distance.
The minor beastmen from Little Black’s tribe were sitting together at a distance, talking and laughing amongst themselves under the full moon.
They seemed to be at peace while they enjoyed themselves in the company of each other. Sunnie simply smiled as she stared in their direction.
"They must really be happy to finally find somewhere to be," Eris said while also staring in their direction. "It’s all thanks to you that they’re able to find a home after all that happened to them."
Sunnie was quiet as she stared in their direction with a smile still lingering at the corner of her lips. "That’s great... as long as they’re able to find peace and comfort here. I think that’s all that matters."
She sighed as she said, "They must have really been through a lot there. It probably wasn’t easy for any of them."
Eris nodded as well. "It surely wasn’t. Given that they lost most of their families and everything dear to them, it must have been hard."
Sunnie nodded with a sigh as Eris stared at her. "But don’t worry..." He reassured her. "At least we were able to avenge them and take down those behind it. And you were able to give them a home to start over from." He said with a smile as he slowly took her hands in his, staring into her eyes with a smile. "So I think that’s fair enough."
Sunnie slowly smiled as she said, "I guess so."
The night was bustling and lively with everyone gathered in their own groups, sitting and talking. Sunnie and Eris sat down at their corner, watching them while savoring the atmosphere of the moment.
Their tribe, which was once small and rather quiet, had grown significantly. Now there were more people living in this house with a more significant amount of houses too.
It looked bustling and lively as Sunnie smiled at the sight. She was proud of what she had made in the long run. She was proud to be able to gather together all these people and give them a home. And she couldn’t help but be curious about how it was going to look in the long run.
---
One morning, Sunnie lay in bed with a light headache and mild sickness that was acting up.
She couldn’t get up from bed that morning, so she lay there while getting a long rest. With her eyes shut, she curled up in bed with the blankets covering her as she planned to sleep more.
Just when she wanted some peace, Luna and Lune rushed into the room.
Luna was running as fast as possible while Lune followed after his sister, trying to catch up.
"Mama! Mama!" Luna called out as she rushed into the cave room. She and her twin arrived as they went to stand close to Sunnie’s bed.
Sunnie ran a hand through her head, feeling pale and down as she looked up at them. "What’s wrong now...?" She stared at them.
"Mama! Luna doesn’t want to share the fruits with me!" Luna insisted.
"Mama... she already had hers yesterday..." Lune insisted from behind.
"But I’m hungry again. I want to have another," Luna said.
"Then you should wait for another time..."
"Mama! You hear! He doesn’t want to share!" Luna insisted again.
Sunnie lay there. There went her peaceful sleep because these two weren’t letting her off anytime soon. They stood there close to her ears while bickering endlessly.
"Mama, I want fruits," Luna came to sit down beside Sunnie, gently pulling her by her hand. "I want fruits," she insisted while Lune stood there quietly watching.
Just then, Lune stared closely at Sunnie, who looked pale and exhausted. He came to sit down on the other side.
"Mama, are you okay?" Lune asked as he gently ran a hand through Sunnie’s head as if he was checking to know if she was okay. But he really wasn’t doing anything—he was just following what he had seen before.
Sunnie smiled as she shook her head. "I should be okay..." She tried saying.
But Luna ran her hand through her forehead as if she was examining her.
"You don’t look okay," Lune insisted while running his hand through her hair without knowing what he was doing.
Sunnie smiled as she said, "Yes. I’m kind of tired, so I want to get some rest. Maybe when I’m done getting some rest, I’ll be okay."
"Are you sure Mama doesn’t need medicine?" Lune asked.
Sunnie smiled. "I’ll be fine."
But Luna wasn’t taking that. She instantly got up to her feet and ran off without any questions at all.
Sunnie and Lune watched Luna run off as Sunnie shook her head.
Luna had rushed out and immediately ran over to where Sunnie’s beast husbands were working on cutting down some trees for firewood.
"Papa!" Luna said as she pulled Eris by the hand.
They turned and stared at her. "What is it? Don’t you see that Papa is working? What is it now?"
"Mama is sick!" Luna announced while pulling on his leg. "Mama is sick."
Eris paused as he stared at her. "Mama is sick? Are you sure about that?"
She nodded. "Yes. She is sick. She looks sick."
Eris stared at the little one closely. "Are you sure you’re not playing pranks on me, eh?"
She nodded vigorously. "I’m sure!"
Eris stared at the rest. Soon, they all left what they were doing and rushed in to check on Sunnie.
Soon, her beast husbands had gathered, all standing around and staring at Sunnie, who was lying there in bed and trying to get some rest.
But with everyone gathered, she guessed she wouldn’t be sleeping right now. She smiled as she stared at Luna, who was proudly standing there.
