Chapter 248: Volunteering to treat
They were done with dinner that night. Some had stayed around, sitting outside around the fire and chatting. They sat around the fire, staring up into the moon while having fun with their talks.
Sunnie was sitting at a distance with Eris, applying medication to the snake bite on his hand. While she sat with him, applying the medication, the twins—Lune and Luna—had surrounded them almost immediately.
The twins sat there on the floor. Luna was playing with some rocks while Lune was watching his parents, sitting there and observing as Sunnie took care of Eris. The little cub seemed impressed by the medication, so he just sat there watching.
"Next time, don’t take too long to get treated. You might be a strong beastman, but the snake is quite poisonous," Sunnie explained as she applied the medication. "You might get really sick."
Eris smiled as he stared at her face. "Okay, then. I’ve heard, so stop nagging already."
Sunnie smiled at him. "Me nagging? I can’t believe my ears." She shook her head while applying the finishing touches of the medication.
"As long as you’re the one handling my medication like this, I don’t mind getting hurt a million times," he smiled as Sunnie slapped him softly on the hand. "Ouch."
"Don’t say that at all. Why are you jinxing yourself?" She snapped.
Eris smiled as he said, "Don’t you know I’m a patient? You shouldn’t be too harsh to me."
"If you talk trash, I’ll beat you more," Sunnie smiled as she continued treating him.
Eris said, "Now my hand is aching... maybe you should kiss me so I’ll feel better." He smiled as he leaned closer for a kiss.
But Sunnie slapped him softly on the lips. "Hey, the kids are here. So hold yourself." She smiled.
"You should also not beat me up because the cubs are watching," Eris said as Sunnie shook her head.
"Yeah, sure, sure. Whatever." She smiled as they turned and stared at Lune, who was sitting there and staring at them.

"..."
The little cub was sitting down there and staring at them with utmost attention.
"Lune..." Sunnie smiled as she scratched his hair. "How are you feeling?"
"Mama, I want to try," Lune said while staring at the oil in Sunnie’s hand—the one she was using to treat Eris.
Sunnie smiled. "No, this isn’t something to eat."
"I want to apply it on Papa too," Lune said. He seemed to understand what it was for, and this left Sunnie and Eris impressed. They stared at each other with a smile.
"Sure, sure. Let the little one try," Eris said as Sunnie carried Lune in her arms and gently sprayed a bit of the oil on his fingers. "Now apply it gently on Papa’s hand... here..."
She directed the little one’s hand as he applied it on Eris’s hand. The little cub was meticulous while applying it—gentle and careful. His parents couldn’t help but smile while watching.
"That’s so cute..." Sunnie smiled.
"He’s so gentle with it. His hand is so professional with it as well. I think our little cub will make a good doctor," Eris said confidently.
Lune was happily applying it while Luna stopped playing with the rocks and stared up at them. She blinked for a while, got up, and watched her brother apply something strange on her dad.
"Papa! Mama! I want to play too!" Luna insisted as she pulled on Sunnie.
Sunnie smiled as she stared at her. "It’s not a game, Luna."
"I want to do it too," she insisted.
Eris smiled as he said, "Let her do it. She’s so happy to try it out. I want my cubs to treat my injury too. Maybe they’ll both become great doctors in the future."
Sunnie smiled as she said, "Okay, wait for your brother to be done. Okay?"
Luna nodded as she watched Lune applying the medication. When Lune was done, he came down and continued watching while his sister was carried by Sunnie and the oil sprinkled on her finger.
"Here... do it like this... gently..." Sunnie instructed, but Luna had done the opposite of the instructions.
Luna instantly slammed her fingers hard against his injury while pressing the oil against Eris’s hand with force. She was intrigued by how the oil felt on her fingers while she pressed it against Eris’s hand that she pressed even harder.
Immediately, the pain crashed into Eris’s soul. He felt immense pain from the little one’s pressing as he squeezed his face.
He stared at Sunnie, who was as shocked as him. But staring at how Eris was struggling to hide the pain that was growing on his face, Sunnie couldn’t help but laugh.
"Papa, how am I doing it? Am I getting it right?" Luna asked with a smile as she stared up at her father while applying it hard against his injury.
He kept squeezing his face as the pain grew but struggled to smile by all means while staring at his daughter. "Of course. Yes. You’re doing such a good job that I can already feel myself getting better. Keep it up! Ah!"
He was in great pain while trying to please his little daughter, who was happily applying the medication. Sunnie couldn’t help but laugh at the scene before her until she decided to intervene.
She stopped Luna and slowly pulled her hands off. "Okay, now. It’s enough. Papa is already healed and better now. So let’s not apply more for him. Okay?" She smiled as she stared at Luna.
Luna looked disappointed as she said, "But I want to continue. Papa," she turned to Eris, "I can continue, right?"
But Eris immediately shook his head with a smile as he said, "No. No need, exactly. Papa is already getting better and better, all thanks to you two. You two little ones did such a good job treating me, so now I’m all better! I don’t need any treatment anymore!"
He said as Sunnie burst out into laughter while shaking her head. She guessed the powerful Eris was scared of the pain from the little ones.
