Chapter 272: CAME PREPARED
"Are you sure they’re going to buy that?" Karl asked Sunnie as they sat down in the cave.
Zayn added, "He’s not to be trusted. That eagle can really be scheming, so... I doubt he’s going to keep his word at all," he explained.
Karl nodded in agreement. "True. I doubt he’s going to get us out of safety at all. If anything, he’s going to do the opposite of it," he explained.
Little Black sighed as he stared at Sunnie. "Can we even still go ahead with this? It sounds complex and dangerous."
Sunnie smiled as she folded her arms. "Don’t worry, I already know. I can tell he’s not one to be trusted, and I can already see through him that he certainly won’t keep his word at all."
There was silence as Little Black tilted his head. "So you already know he’s not to be trusted and still going ahead with it?" She nodded. "Why? Is this part of the plan?"
Sunnie smiled as she nodded.
Karl thought for a while before he said, "...Your aim is for him to fall into the trap of taking us out of here, and then you kick off with our other line of plan, which is... escaping."
Sunnie smiled. "Bingo," she said.
Zayn slowly nodded. "So when he lets us out... even if he intends good or bad... we’ll still find a way to escape."
She nodded as she said, "That’s it. And that will be within the same time when the fight breaks out between the two. He probably won’t notice. And before he even does... it’ll probably be too late." She smiled, staring at them.
Little Black nodded as he asked, "So... what about the fight that is to proceed? Is it already set? Will it still kick off tomorrow as planned?"
Sunnie sighed, nodding. "Yes. Everything is already set. And by tomorrow... everything should begin."
---
The tiger beastman was in his room that night when news came to him.
His men had reported that it was discovered that some parts of the food packed at the storage were being taken.
Someone was stealing off the food, and they didn’t know who this person was.
On hearing this, the tiger beastman was speechless. All he could think about was the eagle beastmen and what the female had told him about.
He sighed and said, "I guess the female is right about this. Just as she said, they’re really working faster than we thought."
"We should strike and stop them before they get smarter," one of his men said. "We should do something."
The tiger lord nodded with a smile as he said, "Everything is ready. The eagle beastmen are probably going to strike tomorrow, so we should get ready and make sure we take them by surprise."
The other beastmen nodded. "Yes... we have to strike first so we get the last laugh. We can’t let them have the first throw."
The tiger lord cleared his throat as he stood up, saying, "Then let’s proceed. Get ready to take down the enemies in our land," he said firmly.
---
The atmosphere at the tribe was quiet—overly quiet. It was almost dry compared to the previous times. Only a few people were moving around.
There was a strange air hanging in the atmosphere, as though they were waiting for something to happen. As if something was coming soon.
In the cave prison, Sunnie and the rest sat there alone that evening.
There was silence among them. No one said anything while they sat there staring into the distance as though waiting for something.
There were no guards around. No one was keeping an eye on them at all. It was just quiet and empty while they sat there.
Not long after, someone stepped into the cave. Sunnie and the rest slowly looked up as their eyes met with the person who had just walked in.
It was an eagle beastman. He was standing there and staring at them without saying anything. He didn’t need to say anything; they already understood why he was here.
The beastman made his way to open the prison door secretly. As he opened it, he stared down at them and signaled them to come along.
Sunnie and the rest didn’t question him or say anything. They simply obeyed as they got up to their feet and followed him out of the prison quietly.
When they were all out of the prison, the eagle beastman locked the door behind them and turned to them. "Let’s go. Follow me quietly," he casually said as he made his way off.
Without words, they followed him off, leaving the whole place empty yet again.
---
The evening was calm, just like the day had been. No one was moving through the land of the tribe as if it was abandoned.
The gentle air blew through the atmosphere while the little animals of the sky sang through the night sky.
The chill of the night was stiff. The atmosphere was firm as though something was ringing through it. As the owl sat up in the tree looking around, a group of men marched just beneath that tree.
The tiger lord and his army had already set off, strolling through the path and making their way to the eagle’s lair.
They moved in unison, moving with authority while making their way down to the lair. In no time, they had finally arrived at their destination.
Over a hundred tiger beastmen and more were at the scene, all standing at different ends while holding their weapons firmly for attack.
They looked prepared and came prepared with furious warrior looks on their faces. It was clear that they were here to destroy whatever was in their way.
The sound they made while arriving had disturbed the peace of the quiet night. Everyone around knew that they weren’t safe at all.
So at that moment when they had surrounded the lair of the eagle beastman, the eagle lord was forced to make a move.
---
The eagle lord was in his lair, sitting down and casually drinking wine from his glass when the news came to him that some people were outside.
"They’re here. Just as the female predicted, the tiger has led his men here to come and end us," his man explained.
At that moment, the eagle lord casually sipped from his cup. He scoffed as he stared into the distance. "That silly tiger... he really did think he can play such games with me and get away with it?"
He questioned as he shook his head, taking another sip. He was calm, as if he had already planned all this and had it under control.
At that moment, he finally added, "Well, since they’re already here, it would be nice to go and pay them a visit, shall we?"
And so the eagle lord and his men stepped outside. As the eagle beastman casually stepped out of his lair, standing before the army, a few of his men also stepped out, all standing behind him.
The eagle beastmen who were standing behind the eagle lord were simply few—only about ten of them in total. Even though they held up their weapons in defense, it was clear that they could never fight against all these men.
The eagle lord was calm and confident as he smiled, staring through the army of tiger beastmen who had come for him as he stared at their leader.
The tiger beastman was standing there firmly, opposite him. He had a smile on his face as he stared at him, as if proud of all that was happening. The smirk on his face said it all.
While he stood there staring, the eagle lord smiled as well as he asked, "And what’s all this, if I may ask... to what do I owe this sudden visit?" He questioned.
The tiger laughed as he said, "Hold it all to yourself. I don’t think I need any of your silly words of denial right now. Just look around and accept your fate!"
The eagle smiled as he asked, "And what fate are we talking about here?"
The tiger raised his chin proudly while he said, "I don’t have the strength to explain everything to you at the moment. So just give up already on whatever you’re planning to do and accept reality!"
But the eagle held his chin high with a smile as he said, "Accept reality? What reality are we talking about?" And then he laughed as he shook his head. "To think that I’ll just sit back and watch you play your cards..." He shook his head. "You really did underestimate me!"
He said, and immediately a large army of eagle beastmen appeared in the air. A huge number of beastmen were seen flying through the air, surrounding them with their wings spread and their weapons set.
At that moment, it was clear that the eagle lord did come prepared.
