Chapter 172: Teaching Farming
After a while of thought, she decided to help them out by teaching the husbands how to get the work done instead of causing the leader of the chipmunks—who was already on the verge of giving up—even more headaches.
Sunnie got up from where she was sitting down and observing. She handed Little Maren over to Zukka and Little Black to take care of. The baby was already asleep at the moment so she wouldn’t be much trouble to the two who didn’t know much about taking care of babies.
Sunnie called her husbands together, and they did as she asked. She told them that she’d be demonstrating how to plant a crop and that they should pay close attention to what she would do. She picked up a crop, bent down before them, and meticulously planted one.
She did another, and then another, watering them gently along the way.
After she finished planting a small row, she smiled as she looked at them. "Did you get that?"
Luka smiled with a nod. "Yes! I think I get it now!"
Sunnie smiled. "That’s good, then. Let’s see you try it out."
Luka happily did so. Although he wasn’t perfect at it yet, he successfully planted a crop without messing things up.
He smiled. "I did it!" He instantly turned to Sunnie, who was also smiling, proud and happy for him.
"That’s good," she expressed, patting him on the head as he bent down, happy to accept her pat.
"I’ll try," Azure immediately offered. He too clearly wanted a pat.
Sunnie nodded. They watched him attempt, and he got it perfectly. Sunnie smiled. "That’s great! A pat for you, then!"
Azure happily lowered his head as Sunnie gently patted his hair. "Good work."
"I want a pat too," Eris insisted.
"Then you’ll have to get it right," she smiled.
Eris folded his arms and said with a flirtatious smile, "Instead of a mere pat, if I get it right, can I get a kiss instead? On the cheek?"
Sunnie smiled with a slow nod. "Sure. Whatever you want. Just get it right."
Immediately, Eris proceeded with the work. He didn’t get the first one right, nor the second or the third. But he was persistent—he definitely wanted that cheek kiss from Sunnie.
He worked hard until he finally got it right.
"I got it right!" He smiled, almost jumping up in celebration.
Sunnie smiled as he instantly turned to her, approached, and presented his cheek. "My reward. I’m waiting."
Sunnie smiled with a nod as she leaned closer and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
Eris closed his eyes, feeling his heart melt as Sunnie’s soft lips met his cheek. He could feel his heart flutter at the act.
"Now work harder," Sunnie smiled. "Maybe if you work harder, you’ll get more."
"...." Azure and Luka stared at each other, clearly jealous that they hadn’t received that.
"I want one too!" the two of them found themselves saying at the same time.
Sunnie smiled as she looked at them. "Okay. Do some planting, and I’ll kiss you both."
Immediately, the two of them set off to plant more crops. They couldn’t miss the opportunity to get a cheek kiss from Sunnie.
While they worked, Sunnie turned to Karl and Zayn. "Okay, now it’s your turn. One of you could try it out."
Zayn stepped forward. He did it without any trial runs—he simply got the planting right on the first try. Sunnie smiled at him. "That’s great. So what reward would you like?"
Zayn had a neutral expression as he stared at Sunnie. "Nothing. I don’t need any of that."
Sunnie raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure about that?"
He hesitated as he said, "Yeah, for now I’m sure. But probably in the future I’ll make use of the reward for a request. I can, right?"
Sunnie hesitated. She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of offer Zayn wanted to make in the future that would require him saying this. She couldn’t read his mind at all. But she smiled as she said, "Okay, sure, then. I’ll be waiting."
Karl was the last. He didn’t want to work, but Sunnie insisted he show what he had learned from her. He reluctantly did.
It was a mess. He couldn’t plant anything at all.
Sunnie blinked. "I guess you didn’t learn anything."
"No! I did!" Karl insisted as he planted more and more. But still nothing. He couldn’t get the planting right, and Sunnie kept shaking her head and saying, "Wrong."
"Then what’s right?" Karl demanded, almost frustrated.
Sunnie smiled as she walked up to him. While he was bent over the soil, Sunnie bent down beside him and took his hand in hers.
Karl flinched.
"Don’t worry, I’m not eating you or anything. Just watch as I show you." She took his hand and guided him through the process.
Sunnie’s eyes were on the soil as she showed him how to get it done, firmly holding his hands.
But Karl was struggling to concentrate with Sunnie so close to him, her hands holding his. He found his heart fluttering. He didn’t know what was happening. He wondered if he was scared of Sunnie or what, because he didn’t understand this feeling at all.
"I’ll do it myself," he struggled to say, breaking his hands free from her. "You can stand there and watch. Stand far, far away."

Sunnie smiled as she stared at Karl. "Why? Are you feeling uncomfortable?" She intentionally ran her hand through his forehead to tease him even more.
Karl panicked, feeling his heart flutter even harder. "No, just..."
"Then concentrate and learn, because I won’t leave your hands until you’ve learned it." She flashed him a smile, her face close to his flustered one. "Okay."
Karl blinked, his heart fluttering hard beyond his control, as he cleared his throat and said, "Whatever."
