Chapter 121: The "Perfect" Land.
The women had volunteered to stay behind and tend to the area, with Zukka and Atan staying behind to provide them protection.
Sunnie had successfully convinced Little Maren to stay behind and play with Mii. Luckily, Mii was there, so she had a reason to stay back and keep herself busy. Otherwise, she would have wanted to come by all means.
The others—basically Sunnie, Little Black, and Sunnie’s husbands—set off to look for suitable land.
They didn’t need to move for too long at all. Sunnie simply told them, "I know a perfect land. I think it’s going to work out best. So let’s go there."
No one questioned her. They simply followed her words and made their way to the land that Sunnie’s system had told her was the perfect space for them to occupy.
And soon, they arrived there. From a glance, Sunnie could only think of one advantage of the land—only one: it was not so far from where they lived.
Apart from that, the land looked like a hot mess.
Sunnie blinked, staring at how bushy and scary the land looked. There were a lot of bushes and weeds growing around wildly, and they looked wild enough to be impossible to cut down.
Sunnie panicked as she observed how scary the land was. The inner part was dark and frightening, as though a monster would emerge from there at any moment.
Sunnie looked around and figured another advantage of the land: it was large—huge and spacious. It looked like the type of spacious farm space that those working in agriculture would work on.
Sunnie didn’t know if this was an advantage, because it certainly made her feel lazy and made it seem scary as well.
No one spoke for over a minute. They all stood there before the farm, staring at it from all directions, all arms folded.
Karl folded his arms and raised an eyebrow. "Are we being for real here? This?" he confirmed.
They stared at Sunnie, who slowly nodded as if she was even unsure. She confirmed with the system, and it was really this land. She too was shocked and confused, but she couldn’t show it. At least she had to trust the system’s judgment.
With a smile, she stared at them. "Yes... this is it. It might look a bit like a mess... maybe not a bit... but these spaces are always the best places with the best farming outcomes, don’t you think so?"
No one said anything. They just stared at her.
Little Black spoke. "I know this place."
Sunnie immediately said, "Right? You see? Even Little Black knows it! So it must be a popular space that everyone is fighting for to farm on! It must be so good!"
Little Black folded his arms. "Oh, there is fighting around here for sure." He stared at her. "And certainly a reason I avoided bringing us here the previous time at all."
"....."
Sunnie turned and stared at him. "Huh? What do you mean?"
Everyone stared at Little Black as he explained.
"This is one of the most dangerous spaces to be here. No one ever comes here casually because doing so would mean you’re willing to die or fight to the death."
"And that’s because here is the home of the venomous snakes."
"There are a lot of them, and they live in the bushes of the land. It’s their home and territory, so no one dares come around here, or else they’ll kill you and eat you." Little Black explained, shivering in fear while looking around to make sure the snakes weren’t already nearby.
Everyone turned and stared at Sunnie again. Sunnie blinked, speechless. She too was instantly scared by what Little Black had explained. She couldn’t help but wonder why the system had brought her here.
Did the system want to set her up for death just for making one bad farming choice?
"So why are we here then?" Karl asked. "Are you willing to fight with the snakes for the land?"
Sunnie blinked. She wasn’t. But this was the land the system had recommended, so it must be good.
Sunnie said nothing as she turned to the land. She walked a bit and bent down, running her fingers through the soil to feel it.
The system instantly analyzed everything for her, and Sunnie was instantly shocked.
The soil itself was amazing. It was the perfect soil for farming—dark and nourished beneath with a lot of natural fertilizers. The land received a lot of sunlight for longer hours and water through rainfall as well. It was a perfect balance in the space it occupied.
There were few toxins in the land. Most of them were supplied by the snakes, and interestingly, most of these toxins from the snakes actually helped keep the land fertilized.
The bad ones were something Sunnie could possibly remove, and that would be achieved by removing the snakes and treating the land.
Overall, the risk percentage of the land was only 10%. That was extremely low, and it surprised Sunnie, who thought 50% was the lowest it could go.
With a smile, she slowly got up to her feet and turned to the land. "This land is perfect for whatever we want to do, and I’m sure about it. So we have to make use of it."
"But... it’s not safe at all," Azure explained. "What if we farm on it and those snakes attack someone? Or maybe what if they ruin what we planted or something?"
Little Black added, "I’ve heard news of those snakes being so toxic and unreasonable. Everyone is scared of them because they’re so powerful. So I doubt they’ll want to spare their land for us to do some farming. They’ll probably kill us if they see us, so let’s just go and find somewhere else."
But Sunnie didn’t wish to leave. This was the perfect land they needed, and it was the only place she knew they could succeed.
She turned and stared at the land. "If they won’t spare the land for us, then we’ll just have to take it."
