Chapter 139: Heart Issue
Sunnie watched him eat as she slowly brought her hands to pat him on the ears. He was always cute when he ate. He ate in such a way that made any chef happy to cook more. The way he ate was enough to bring a smile on the face of anyone watching him, like Sunnie in that moment.
"You’re clearly so hungry, eating like someone who hasn’t eaten for ages. Why are you running away then? We’re not going to eat you or anything."
He continued eating for a while without saying anything. He didn’t even speak until he was done with the meal.
When he was finished, he stared at the bowl in his hand as though looking for answers in it. After a while, he said, "I’m sorry."
Sunnie stared at him. "There you go again. What are you apologizing for now?"
He hesitated, his head down as he said, "I was the one who found the boar. But I didn’t protect it. I let them have it."
Sunnie stared at him while she asked softly, "And who took it? Did they beat you in a fight to take it?"
He shook his head. "No, I let them have it."
Sunnie stared. "And how?"
He hesitated without saying anything.
"Did they say something bad about you? Look down on you? Remind you of your past and take it from you?" she asked as he slowly nodded.
Sunnie let out a gentle smile, patting him on the ears as she said, "Is that why you’re sad?"
"I failed everyone. I didn’t bring it back and let them take it. I feel so terrible. They probably hate me and are disappointed... so I didn’t want to come back."
Sunnie smiled. Hearing him speak was like hearing a child rant. He was the youngest after all. "And how long do you plan on running away from us?"
He said nothing.
Sunnie smiled as she said, "No one is even bothered about it. Rather, they’re all worried about you. So don’t assume that."
She stared at him, now softly. "Let me tell you something. Something is only your fear because you haven’t faced it. If you face it, it’s no longer a fear."
He stared at her as she continued with a smile. "Can you do something for me?"
"What?"
Sunnie smiled, taking his hand. "Face them. If they talk at you, talk back to them ten times. Tell them how you really feel, tell them what you really want to say. Just say it."
Luka hesitated as he said, "I’m scared... I’m scared that I can’t do it... and doing it won’t even bring anything."
"It will," Sunnie smiled. "It will bring you peace, confidence, and freedom. It’ll make you happy and free. Trust me."
Their eyes locked as he stared into her pretty, glittering eyes. Sunnie’s stare and words made his heart flutter in ways he didn’t understand.
But he blinked and said, "But can I do it...?"
She smiled with a nod. "I’m sure that if you’re determined enough, you’ll do it." She said with a smile.
Sunnie added, "If you need motivation, I’ll provide some. If you do it, then I promise you all the delicious meals you could ever think of." Sunnie took her time mentioning and explaining all the modern delicacies she could think of.
She described them in such detail that Luka’s mouth began watering. "Do such meals really exist?"
Sunnie nodded with a smile. "Of course they do. And I’m going to make whichever one you want. Just face your fear, and it’ll all be yours," she assured.
Luka was intrigued. He simply nodded with a smile curling up his lips at the thought of the amount of delicacies he could have—ones he never imagined. It was enough motivation, and Sunnie was happy to see that.
"I’ll try."
Sunnie nodded as she patted him on the ears and head. "Good boy."
While she patted him, Luka found himself staring at Sunnie again—staring into her eyes, her face, her lips.
Luka gulped as he felt his heart flutter. It was beating fast—faster than usual—and he placed a hand over his chest to gauge it, shocked.
"What’s wrong? What’s wrong with your heart?" Sunnie asked, worried.
Luka stared at his chest and then up at Sunnie’s concerned gaze.
Luka blinked as he said, "What’s wrong with my heart...?"
Sunnie blinked as well. "What’s wrong with it?"
"It’s beating fast. Really fast whenever I stare at your face..."
Sunnie blinked and found herself smiling. "What?"
"When I stare at your face and your smile and all... it beats fast... like really fast. What’s wrong with me? Can you treat it?"
Sunnie found herself bursting into laughter.
"Why are you laughing? It seems serious. Am I going to die?"
She smiled and said, "Don’t worry at all. You’ll be fine. It’s nothing much."
"Are you sure? It looks pretty serious, though... I mean... it keeps beating... and it’s still beating. What if my chest falls off?"
Sunnie smiled as she watched the system notification.
[Ding!]
[Husband Taming System]
[Congratulations Host, your bond with the Bear Husband is growing so much!]
[The Bear Husband is genuinely falling for you now!]
[Affection Percentage: 60%!]
[Keep it up, Host!]
Sunnie raised an eyebrow, impressed. She guessed he was the type to fall in love pretty easily and innocently too.
She smiled as she stared at Luka, who was still checking his chest.
"Are you sure this is okay?" he asked.
Sunnie asked, "Do you want me to fix it for you then?"
He stared up at her, curious. "Really? Can you fix it?"
Sunnie nodded with a smile. "Yes. I can fix it."
Luka leaned closer. "Then do something fast before my heart falls off."
Sunnie smiled as she nodded. "Okay. I will. Close your eyes."
Luka quickly obeyed and closed his eyes. Sunnie smiled as she slowly leaned closer to him, gently pressing her lips against Luka’s for a deep kiss.
