Chapter 239: Name?
Eris rushed into the room as his eyes fell on Sunnie, who was lying there exhausted and pale. She looked so tired and certainly needed a long rest.
Eris slowly smiled as he stared at her. "You’re safe... Don’t worry... You’re safe now." He said as he slowly came to sit down beside her. "I’m here... you are okay."
At that moment, Elza and Zuna carried the two little ones and brought them to the couple.
Eris was in disbelief as he stared at the cubs in their arms. He was filled with emotions as he gazed at them, fighting the tears that were struggling to break from his eyes.
The two cubs were his—one orange and another red, just like him. They were so little and tender, still wet from birth. Eris felt emotional as they brought them closer. They handed the red fox cub to Eris while they handed the orange one to Sunnie, who carried the cub with a smile.
Zuna and Elza decided to excuse them along with the other women, leaving them alone with their cubs. "Call out to us for anything, okay?" Elza said as they left, leaving them alone there.
Eris held the little one in his hands with such gentleness. He was scared that he might hurt the little one, so he made sure he held him firmly while staring into his tiny face. The little red fox had his eyes shut, probably sleeping while also making tiny little noises.
Eris felt his heart melt at the scene. He smiled as he felt the tiny red ears and fluffy tail in his hands. They were so soft and tiny that Eris didn’t even know what to do but simply sob at the sight.
Sunnie couldn’t help but smile as she stared at him. "There you go again, crying."
"I’m not..." Eris denied as he ran his fingers through his cub’s ears with a warm smile. He could feel his heart thudding.
Eris also stared up at the orange little one in Sunnie’s arms, watching the little orange cub look around. It had its eyes open, unlike the other, actively looking around and making little noises. The little one was active.
The two of them smiled while they stared at the little one. "So active..." Sunnie smiled as Eris nodded with a smile.
"So they’re both female...?" Eris asked while staring at the little red one in his arms.
"No," Sunnie smiled as she shook her head.
"Oh?" Eris was surprised as he stared at Sunnie. Sunnie closely took a look at the two of them as she said, "That’s a girl..." She explained while staring at the orange one in her hand. "And that’s a boy," she said while staring at the red cub in Eris’s hands.
"Oh." Eris found himself smiling as he stared at the two little cubs—staring at the little orange fox who was actively looking around in Sunnie’s arms, and then at the fox in his arms. "I can’t believe it actually happened. Twins, and it’s a boy and a girl." He smiled, feeling extremely proud as he stared at Sunnie.
He had doting eyes while he stared at Sunnie, then leaned in and pressed his lips against her forehead.
Sunnie smiled as he pulled back and stared into her eyes. "Thanks..."
"And why are you thanking me?" Sunnie smiled as they stared at the little ones in their arms.
"The boy seems tired," Eris laughed while playing his fingers through the ears of the red fox in his arms. "So tiny and tired already. What did you do, little one, that you’re so tired? You should learn from your sister and look around more."
Sunnie smiled as she simply shook her head.
Eris stared up at Sunnie and said, "So about the name... what are we going to do...?"
Sunnie smiled as she stared at him. "You... I thought you said you’d come up with a name. So what did you come up with?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
Immediately, Eris got nervous. He was to name them as he stared at the two of them. "Oh, what to do... I had already thought it was only going to be a girl, so I had come up with a name for a girl alone."
Sunnie smiled as she shook her head. "Okay, then. Why don’t you give the girl her name, and I’ll name the boy? What do you think?"
Eris smiled with a nod. "Okay, then, sure."
Sunnie asked, "So what name did you come up with?" She asked as she stared at Eris.
Eris stared at the little girl in Sunnie’s arms. He had a thousand thoughts running through his mind while he thought of a name for the little one. "I’ve come up with different names... most of which I discarded. But I’ve ultimately come up with the one I believe is the best."
He smiled as he leaned closer with a smile and said, "Luna." He said with a smile. "It sounds like the moon, so I think it works best." He smiled at the little girl in Sunnie’s arms. "Her eyes also look as beautiful as the moon, so I think that should do."
Sunnie smiled as she nodded. "If you say so, then I also think it sounds better. So let’s go with that." She also stared at the little one in his arms as she said, "Luna it is."
Eris smiled proudly as his face flushed. He felt extremely proud for being the one to name her. "Luna..." He repeated again with a smile. "So what is it going to be? What do you plan on naming our little boy?"
Sunnie smiled while she stared at the little boy sleeping soundly in his arms. She thought for a while and then said, "Since they’re twins, I figured we should give him something that echoes the same thing—something that would bond them together even by name. So I’ll give him the name... Lune."
