Chapter 1261: I’ll Keep My Distance from Him Even Without Being Told
"Better to keep your distance from him," Lennox Quinn advised quietly.
Aurelia Shaw probably hadn’t met Henry Fletcher, but given their current relationship with him, it would be best for Aurelia to avoid any involvement with Henry.
Mason Nightshade should have warned her though, yet he couldn’t resist saying a word himself.
"I would stay far away even without you saying," Aurelia muttered softly.
"What?" Lennox wasn’t hard of hearing, but hearing Aurelia’s response... did she know Henry Fletcher before?
The Shaw Family shouldn’t have any dealings with the Fletcher Family, right?
Could it be that she met Henry through Mason Nightshade?
That’s not entirely impossible.
"I won’t disturb you anymore," Aurelia bade farewell to Lennox.
"Mm," Lennox nodded.
After watching Aurelia leave, Lennox departed, only to unexpectedly run into Junia Simpson.
Grayson Quinn had already mentioned she was back, but it was a surprise encounter still.
Junia was someone he had watched grow up, then one day, she declared she was joining the military.
Lennox thought Junia was simply talking, yet she went through with it and has been in service for many years now.
Since Junia enlisted, their encounters have been rare.
Busy schedules contributed to that, but another reason was Lennox felt Junia was deliberately avoiding him.
Without really understanding why.
Perhaps he had unintentionally done something to hurt her, Lennox thought.
Despite pondering for a long time, he couldn’t figure out what had wronged this girl, he had been accused without knowing why.
Lennox considered explaining to Junia, but thought better of it; she’s grown now, no longer the little girl trailing behind him, having her own goals and keeping her distance might be for the best.
After all, he has too much responsibility on his shoulders.
Lennox restrained the dark glow in his eyes and smiled while nodding at Junia.
Her gentle warmth from memory, Junia seemed momentarily bewildered.
Lennox expected another perfunctory greeting from Junia before she left, but unexpectedly, she paused, looking directly at him.
After a moment of silence, she finally spoke, "I heard... you are getting married?"
Lennox hadn’t expected this question, hesitated for a moment before nodding, "Mm."
Junia clenched her fists tightly, eyes igniting with anger, "Lennox, do you despise me that much? You can’t even inform me of your marriage and let me hear it from others?"
"I... didn’t... why would you think that?" Lennox frowned.
Junia’s lips curled in a cold sneer.
"Forget it."
With a cryptic remark, Junia left.
Lennox stood there, staring into the direction Junia left, brow tightly furrowed, as clever as he was, he couldn’t understand Junia’s anger? Was she upset he hadn’t told her he was getting married?
The reason was she was in the military, and given the current volatile state in the Capital City, his wedding had been postponed, so he hadn’t informed her. Why was this girl inexplicably upset?
...
Aurelia initially didn’t plan to seek out Ava Thompson, but once she stepped into her residence, she unconsciously veered towards Ava’s place.
She couldn’t let go of issues concerning Mason, and feeling uneasy until clarified.
Before setting foot inside, Aurelia overheard a woman’s voice drifting out, one that wasn’t Ava’s.
"Ah, Ava, your necklace is so beautiful. Was it a gift from His Excellency the President? How envious I am, it would be wonderful to have a husband like that."
"Sister Xiao, you’re so beautiful, you’ll definitely find someone better than me," Ava responded with a sweet smile.
