Chapter 1262: I Wonder If I’m Qualified to Be Her Support
"Isn’t Aunt Iris trying to matchmake you with Henry? I think Lieutenant General Henry is quite handsome... Though he looks cold usually, men always treat their own women well. Look, didn’t Mason change after marrying Aurelia?" Ava Thompson said.
"Do you really think Henry is better than His Excellency the President?" Iris Cooper asked.
Aurelia Shaw narrowed her eyes slightly, a cold light flashing through her eyes, and sighed inwardly.
This silly girl, Ava.
"That’s a really interesting question," Aurelia raised her voice, stepping inside, glancing at Iris who was looking her way, her eyes filled with a chilling coldness. "Who could compare to the President’s authority? No matter how formidable Lieutenant General Henry is in battle, he’s just a minister. Comparing a sovereign to his subordinate like this... tsk tsk."
Iris shivered under her gaze, her face changing, and she shrieked, "What nonsense are you spouting?! Don’t slander me, I didn’t mean it that way. But you, stirring up trouble in front of Ava, what’s your real intent?"
"How am I stirring up trouble?" Aurelia showed an innocent expression, then suddenly looked as if she had an epiphany, "Ah, I get it, so you actually don’t have any ulterior motive. I just heard those words and thought you were deliberately setting a trap for Ava."
Ava suddenly realized, if she had answered that Henry was better than Adrian, how would the servants perceive her? If the First Lady openly admitted that the President was inferior to Henry, what kind of public uproar would it cause?
Recalling it, Ava felt a chill of terror.
Ava isn’t dumb, it’s just that Adrian Cooper raised her too well, shielding her from the wickedness of people, but that doesn’t mean she’s brainless.
Aurelia’s words suddenly reminded her.
Iris felt Ava’s gaze change, feeling both awkward and furious. Who was this woman? How dare she ruin her plans! Wait... who is she?
On the second floor, Mason Nightshade and Adrian Cooper stood at the stairwell, both with gloomy expressions, having overheard their conversation.
Mason gave Adrian a meaningful look, "Ava is pure-hearted, easily exploited by those with ill intentions. You don’t actually need to protect her so well. Letting her experience some of life’s harsh realities wouldn’t be bad."
"Like your woman?" Adrian said nonchalantly. Letting her go through such things? He couldn’t bear the thought of anyone like that getting close, couldn’t stand the idea of those people sullying her innocence!
Mason’s gaze turned cold instantly, sarcastically saying, "Don’t forget it was my woman who just helped yours."
He said proudly as he walked away.
Adrian: "..." Totally whipped husband.
...
"Ha, so it’s the famous Aurelia Shaw! Is this kind of lowly person allowed in a place like the President’s Pavilion? Do you think just because you’ve climbed into someone’s bed with your looks you can go anywhere, tarnishing this noble pavilion?" Iris had naturally heard about her reconciliation with Mason.
Now, with Mason and the President upstairs in a meeting, it’s not like he could magically appear to defend her.
However, before she could fully settle into this thought, a cold, chilling laugh echoed, "Ha!"
Iris felt a chill down her spine. Though it was just a laugh, she knew whose voice it was.
The one she once was madly infatuated with.
Mason Nightshade.
"I wonder if I’m qualified enough to be her support?" Mason’s lips moved, asking word by word, a mocking curve on his thin lips, his gaze alone could crush someone to the depths of desolation.
