"What is Felix Hughes to you? Why are you defending him like that?"

"My relationship with him is none of your business. I just came to give you a heads-up, so you’re prepared."

"Rose, since you’ve walked through that door, don’t even think about leaving tonight."

"We’ll see if you’ve got what it takes."

Keith Coleman stood up, grabbed a few more bottles of liquor from the cabinet, set them on the table, and opened every single one.

"Try me."

Rose Shaw smiled and nodded. "I’ll keep you company till the very end."

Two hours later...

"Rose, don’t go! Rose, I like you."

"Heh heh, my little bunny Rose, c’mere and give me a hug!"

"Gimme a kiss, mwah."

Rose Shaw sighed, pressing a hand to her forehead as she looked at the man on the bed. His clothes were in disarray, and he was hugging a pillow, throwing a drunken fit.

Seven or eight empty liquor bottles lay scattered on the floor nearby.

If Keith Coleman weren’t still acting like a drunken fool, Rose Shaw might have considered taking him to the hospital.

After all, the amount they had drunk was far more than any normal person could handle.

"Rose! Rose!"

Rose Shaw: ...

’How much longer is Keith Coleman going to keep this up?!’

’Even though he’s just hugging a pillow, this is still too much to watch!’

’This damned man! Such a lech!’

Rose Shaw couldn’t take it anymore. She glanced around, then pulled the belt from her bathrobe and walked over to Keith Coleman.

"Let’s play a little game." Rose Shaw dangled the bathrobe belt. "Now, hold out your hands."

Keith Coleman obediently held out his hands.

Rose Shaw quickly bound his hands, tying them in a dead knot.

She gave Keith Coleman a shove. "Lie down and be good."

Rose Shaw then grabbed a leather belt from the bed, bound Keith Coleman’s legs tightly, and gagged him. She gave a seductive smile. "Good night. Sweet dreams."

Keith Coleman’s phone was still on the table. Rose Shaw picked it up and turned it off.

The next morning, Melody Monroe was up early. She had just finished applying some light makeup and stepped out of the bathroom when she walked right into a warm, strong embrace.

"I’m going to be late."

But Evan Fairchild paid her no mind, simply holding her tighter.

"Once my contract is signed, if you’re free, let’s go back to Rockwellburg together, okay? Ian has been home by himself for days. We should go back and spend some time with him."

"Okay," Evan Fairchild nodded.

"Don’t you have to go to work?"

"Let me drive you."

"That’s okay, I’m going with Rose. I just contacted Winter Kane, and he’s on his way." Melody squirmed in his embrace, but he refused to let go.

"Mr. Fairchild, I’ll be back as soon as the contract is signed. I really have to go now."

But Evan Fairchild still wouldn’t let go.

Melody sighed in exasperation.

He rested his head on her shoulder, leaning his full weight against her like a big, clingy child.

Sometimes, she truly didn’t know how to describe the feeling.

"Evan..."

Hearing her call, Evan Fairchild’s head shot up, his eyes filled with delighted surprise.

"What did you just call me?"

A blush crept across Melody Monroe’s face, and she looked away, embarrassed.

"What did you just call me? Say it again."

Melody Monroe slowly rose onto her tiptoes and planted a kiss on his cheek.

Evan Fairchild beamed as if he’d just eaten candy, a sweetness warming him to his very core.

"I really have to go. I’ll text you when I’m done."

Suddenly, Evan Fairchild leaned down and captured her lips.

Melody Monroe’s phone began to ring. The ringing continued until it finally timed out.

A minute later, her phone rang again, and just like before, it went unanswered until it timed out.
