Rose Shaw’s heart sank. The situation was even worse than she had imagined.

Director Walsh had sounded so encouraging before, but now that they were in Jansburg, he wasn’t even willing to meet with them.

"I’ll be straight with you. The cast is set. Melody Monroe has a bit of a name for herself now, so it wouldn’t be right to give her a bit part, and all the more significant roles have already been filled."

"I understand. Thank you, Director Walsh." Rose Shaw hung up and angrily threw her phone onto the sofa.

"Rose, calm down. If this is how it is, there’s nothing we can do."

Rose Shaw truly couldn’t understand. ’Why is this happening?!’

"Even if Lana Sheffield is pulling strings behind the scenes, she can’t be that powerful, can she? We’re hitting roadblocks at every turn. It’s like we’ve been blacklisted!"

Melody Monroe was speechless.

’Blacklisted? Could that really be happening?’

"I’ll make some more calls. There are still a few directors I haven’t tried yet."

"Rose, let’s eat first. We rushed all the way here and haven’t even had a sip of water." Melody Monroe snatched the phone away. "No more calls! Let’s get a full meal and a good night’s sleep. It can wait."

Rose Shaw nodded.

The two of them had a quick bite in the hotel restaurant.

"Rose, want to come to the gym with me?"

"Sure. It’s not like we have anything else to do. I haven’t been in ages."

"Let’s go get changed!" Melody Monroe said, pulling Rose Shaw out the door.

’She could see that Rose Shaw had been extremely anxious lately. For a workaholic like her, any downtime was unbearable.’

Rose Shaw had been this way for years.

She filled her life with work, using every available minute, so she had no free time for anxious thoughts.

The two of them spent two hours at the gym.

"Should we head back to the room to shower?" Melody Monroe asked Rose Shaw.

Rose Shaw was exhausted. Unlike Melody Monroe, she didn’t work out regularly, and on top of feeling weak lately, she was now completely drenched in sweat.

"Okay." She nodded. The exhaustion had left her feeling incredibly sleepy.

Melody Monroe took out her phone and habitually checked her messages. Zane Langdon had sent her a text.

"Rose!"

"What is it?"

"The premiere date for *Warm Wind* is set!"

"When?" Rose Shaw asked, suddenly full of energy.

"It was originally scheduled for two months from now, but the show before it got pulled for some reason, so it’s taking over the time slot next Wednesday!"

"That soon?" Rose Shaw could hardly believe it.

"Yeah! The message is from Zane Langdon. It has to be right!"

"This is fantastic! If *Warm Wind* is a hit, it could break this stalemate!"

Melody Monroe was thrilled too.

"Thanks for letting me know. I’m so happy," Melody Monroe texted Zane Langdon, adding an emoji.

Zane Langdon heard his phone chime and immediately checked it.

It was a reply from Melody Monroe.

"What have you been up to? Took you long enough to reply. I haven’t seen you in-game for the last few days," Zane Langdon texted.

"I was just at the gym. I haven’t really been on the game lately."

"You won’t have time to play from now on, either. The main cast and crew have a bunch of promotional events, like roadshows and fan meet-and-greets. Barring any emergencies, you have to participate."

"I’ll definitely be there!" Melody was so bored she felt like she was gathering dust. "Mr. Langdon, you won’t be attending every single event, will you?"

"I will."

Melody Monroe stared at the two words and nodded.
