Chapter 69: Why Dirty Your Own Hands?
She didn’t want Rhona Hughes to keep digging herself into a hole over Melody Monroe.
’Why does she have to be so against Melody Monroe?’
’Shouldn’t she be seizing this chance to advance her career? Always thinking about targeting Melody... it’s a pyrrhic victory. Hurting the enemy at great cost to herself. It’s just not worth it!’
"Who knows who she’s got in her sights!" Rhona Hughes was dead set on this idea.
’If it wasn’t what she thought, there’s no way Melody Monroe could have gotten such a good opportunity!’
"Let’s just ignore her. It doesn’t look like your role has changed much. Once we’re done filming here, we have to hurry over to Director Sullivan’s set."
"Ignore her? I will not let her walk all over me!" Rhona Hughes had no intention of waiting until Melody Monroe got famous to make her move. She had to crush Melody now, before she had a chance to catch fire!
She’d hurt Melody once, she could hurt her again.
The second time, Melody wouldn’t be so lucky.
...
Raymond Ford stared at the files on her computer, a sinister glint in her eyes.
’Melody Monroe, you forced my hand! Why did you have to come back to the set?’
"Raymond, should I tell our contact to spread this information?" Leah Young asked tentatively. ’Once this dirt is out, it’ll be impossible for Melody Monroe to recover!’
"No. Why should we get our hands dirty?"
"You mean?"
DING-DONG! The doorbell suddenly rang.
For convenience during filming, the actors were basically all staying in this hotel.
"Who could it be this late?" Leah Young walked to the door, glanced through the peephole, then turned and mouthed to Raymond Ford, "Rhona Hughes."
Raymond Ford watched Leah Young’s lips move and a small smile appeared on her face.
Speak of the devil.
Leah Young opened the door. Rhona Hughes immediately asked, "Is Raymond here?"
"She is. Come in." Leah Young showed Rhona Hughes in, then said to Raymond Ford, "Raymond, I’m heading back to my room."
"Mm," Raymond Ford nodded.
Rhona Hughes walked up to Raymond Ford, carrying some fruit. "Raymond, I figured you wouldn’t be asleep yet. I had my assistant buy a fruit platter, so I came by to keep you company."
"You’re eating this late? Come on, have a seat."
"You’re so disciplined. I’m always eating this late." Rhona Hughes set the platter on the table and, noticing that Raymond Ford’s computer was still on, shot a glance at the screen.
Raymond Ford immediately minimized the page she was looking at and smiled at Rhona Hughes. "Just bored, so I was browsing online."
"I heard there were major changes to the script, is that right?" Rhona Hughes watched Raymond Ford’s expression and noticed it darkened the moment she brought it up.
"There were some changes, but your part wasn’t affected much."
"I’m not worried about myself. My next project is already lined up, anyway. I heard they added a lot of scenes for Melody Monroe, and that it’s affecting you!"
"It’s not that bad."
"You’re just too nice. You let everything slide."
Raymond Ford just smiled. "We’re with the same company, and she’s one of Rose’s people. If she does well, I’m happy for her."
"Are you stupid?! I’m telling you, she’s trying to push you out! You have no idea. That woman will do anything for her own benefit, no matter the cost! When we were on that reality competition show together, I suffered at her hands more than once!"
Raymond Ford just smiled without saying a word.
"You don’t know what a bitch Melody Monroe is! She must have slept with someone! You can’t underestimate her schemes!"
"Rhona, let’s not talk about her. Everyone makes their own choices."
"We’re on the same set, and she’s already a threat to you! You have to be extremely careful!"
"I don’t think Melody is that kind of person."
