Chapter 258: Mr. Fairchild, Was Your Account Hacked?
"I really want to help you. I’m your wife. My heart, my whole being, it’s all yours, Christopher Sterling. Do you have any idea how much I love you?"
Christopher Sterling squeezed Lana Sheffield’s hand. "Let’s go home."
A happy smile appeared on Lana Sheffield’s face as she nodded.
...
The day’s shoot went exceptionally well. Melody Monroe wrapped up at four, removed her makeup, changed her clothes, and prepared to head back.
Only when she was in the car did she finally have time to check her phone.
As soon as she turned on her phone, she saw a missed call from Rose Shaw and several WeChat messages. All of the messages were from Evan Fairchild.
’Does he have that much free time in a day?’
Melody Monroe called Rose Shaw back first.
"All done shooting?"
"Yeah, it went really well. We wrapped up early."
"I have some good news for you. You’ve got a new drama."
"Really? What genre is it?"
"A major historical drama. The company’s investing in it themselves, and President Sterling has put me in charge."
"When does filming start?"
"It’ll be in pre-production for a while, but I couldn’t resist telling you the good news first. You’ve been chosen as the female lead."
"Rose, thank you!"
"Alright, if that’s all, I’m hanging up now."
"Okay, bye."
Rose Shaw hung up the phone. She thought about the trouble the company was in, being suppressed by Starfall, but she held back and decided not to tell Melody Monroe.
She was certain Melody Monroe didn’t know about any of this.
She didn’t know Evan Fairchild well. Ian was living with him now, and from the way Evan was acting, it was clear he wanted more than just his son.
He probably wanted the son’s mother, too.
But in what way he wanted her was anyone’s guess.
If Rose Shaw had acted like her old self, she wouldn’t be promoting Melody Monroe anymore. She might have even had Melody’s contract with the company terminated.
But now, she had changed.
It was highly likely that Melody Monroe was her closest living relative.
Although she didn’t dare to confirm it, she already thought of Melody Monroe as her own sister.
It wasn’t just because of this; she had also changed her principles for getting things done.
People really do change.
Perhaps one day, she would suddenly find she didn’t love that person so much anymore, and everything would just naturally fade away.
Although it wasn’t that easy to just stop loving someone on a whim.
At the very least, she was already learning to let go.
...
After hanging up with Rose Shaw, Melody Monroe immediately opened WeChat.
The first message: [Did you eat lunch? Should I go grocery shopping tonight?]
The second: [I’m still craving the sweet and sour pork you make. I’ll buy extra today so you can make it just for me.]
[Don’t let Ian Monroe eat too much of it.]
[It’s three in the afternoon. You should be almost done with your shoot, right?]
[It’s four o’clock. I’m going to pick up Ian Monroe.]
[We’re at the wet market. What do you like to eat?]
Below that was a photo.
Melody Monroe zoomed in on the photo and took a look. It really was a wet market!
Evan Fairchild used to buy his groceries at the supermarket.
She had mentioned offhandedly that the market had fresher produce, and now today he’d actually taken Ian to a wet market!
She couldn’t imagine what a scene it must be: Evan Fairchild leading Ian Monroe through a wet market.
’Did someone hack Evan Fairchild’s account?’
She sent a message: "Are you guys still at the wet market?"
An immediate reply came back: "We’re done buying. Getting ready to head back. Are you finished with your shoot?"
Melody Monroe replied, "Finished. I’m on my way back now."
"Waiting for you." That message came back instantly.
Evan Fairchild put the groceries in the trunk and looked at Ian Monroe.
"After dinner, I’ll have Uncle Page come pick you up."
"No! Why do you get to live here, but I can’t?" Ian Monroe immediately shot back.
