Chapter 263: The Nourishment of Love
After finishing the Bloomwell commercial, Melody Monroe immediately went to shoot the finale for *Warm Wind*.
The shoot took place at a private hospital near Rockwellburg.
Director Wallace had already sent a team to capture the exterior shots; the current scene was set in a nursing home abroad.
The filming equipment was already set up inside the hospital room.
Melody Monroe was still in makeup.
This ending was the same as the one in the original novel. After resolving everything, Willow Lynch had quietly gone abroad alone.
Her mother’s condition hadn’t improved, and after so many years, her life was finally drawing to a close.
After some discussion, her mother decided to calmly accept her death.
Less than a month later, Willow Lynch’s mother passed away.
After arranging her mother’s funeral, Willow Lynch returned to the hospital.
This time, the medical chart the doctor held was her own.
"How much longer for the makeup artist?"
"We’re almost ready. Melody Monroe’s complexion is too healthy. We have to use more foundation to cover it up and give her that haggard, pale look."
Everyone else had noticed it too. Though they had only been apart for a few days, Melody Monroe’s complexion was drastically different than before.
"It’s probably because I haven’t been filming, so I’m not pulling all-nighters anymore," Melody Monroe explained softly.
"Could it be because you’re in love? Only the glow of love can give someone such a great complexion," the makeup artist teased.
"Of course not," Melody Monroe said hurriedly.
Those nearby couldn’t help but laugh. It had been a long time since the atmosphere on set was this relaxed.
The relaxed feeling had been absent from the set ever since Melody Monroe had finished her main block of filming.
"All done," the makeup artist finally said, straightening up.
Melody Monroe looked at her reflection in the mirror. ’I really do look haggard.’
"Alright, all departments, prepare to shoot!"
Melody Monroe walked over to the hospital bed and lay down.
"Action!" Director Wallace called out.
The doctor walked over and stood by the bed.
Melody Monroe smiled at him like a carefree child, her smile as brilliant as ever.
"You should have started aggressive treatment five years ago, when you first found out. If you had cooperated then, you might have had more time than this."
"I think five years has been long enough. If I had taken your advice five years ago, I would have ended up just like my mother—stuck in a hospital day after day, enduring endless treatments. I wouldn’t have been able to do anything."
"If I was destined to have such a short life, I’d rather spend what little time I have left doing all the things I want to do. At least this way, I have no regrets."
"What do you want to do next?"
"Take me to the sea... to a place with a coconut grove and a sandy beach... I want to listen to the sound of the waves, the calls of the gulls, the whisper of the wind..."
"When I die, scatter my ashes in that same sea." Her voice was a mere whisper as she lay on the bed. She slowly raised her hand, reaching for the window.
Into the brilliant light.
She saw the azure sea and sky, the sandy beach and the coconut grove. She heard the sound of the waves, the gulls, the wind...
Finally, her hand fell, lifeless.
"Cut!" Director Wallace’s voice rang out. He stood up, turned away, and wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes.
That was Willow Lynch’s true ending.
Melody Monroe sat up and looked at everyone on set.
"I feel like crying. I got too invested in the scene."
"You *feel like* crying? We’re *already* crying!"
"Now it’s really over. Thank you, everyone." Melody Monroe walked up to Director Wallace and gave him a deep bow. "Director Wallace, thank you. Thank you for giving me such an incredible opportunity to play this character."
"You earned this with your own talent. I’m sure you’ll bring many more characters to life in the future."
"I’ll do my best."
