Chapter 339: You Learn From Those You Follow
Wayne Payne’s head was spinning from being thrown to the ground. Forget fighting back—he couldn’t even get a single word of protest out!
"What’s going on?" Felix Hughes asked as he emerged from the crowd.
He hadn’t been there a moment ago; he’d stepped out to handle something. When he got a call saying there was trouble, he rushed back immediately. The moment he stepped into the courtyard, he was met with this scene.
"It’s just a personal conflict, nothing to do with the crew," Rose Shaw explained, stepping forward.
Since Rose Shaw had said as much, Felix Hughes didn’t press the matter.
Besides, as long as personal matters didn’t affect the shoot, it wasn’t their place to interfere.
"It’s getting late," Felix Hughes announced to the crowd gathered in the courtyard. "If there’s nothing else, you can all head back to your rooms to rest."
The onlookers snapped out of their stupor and quickly headed upstairs.
’It’s best to stay out of this.’
’Melody Monroe is clearly not someone to be trifled with! And besides, the powers backing her are not to be provoked.’
’Eileen Scott is Lana Sheffield’s cousin, backed by President Sterling and the Sheffield Family, and even she was taken down so miserably by Melody’s people.’
’Even her assistant manager got beaten up too! And in the end, they didn’t dare make a peep!’
Wayne Payne scrambled up from the ground, looking pathetic. He felt like his back was about to break. He shot Keith Coleman a vicious glare. ’Where did this nobody come from, daring to lay a hand on me!’
"Need a trip to the hospital? I’ll cover the medical expenses," Keith Coleman said with a smile. ’I’m definitely not letting this person go.’
Wayne Payne really did need to see a doctor. He felt like his back had been seriously injured; it was agony just to stand up straight.
’If I didn’t have to finish the task Mrs. Sterling gave me, there’s no way I’d let Keith Coleman off so easily today!’
’However, if I don’t press legal charges, he’ll face even worse consequences!’
Eileen Scott, who had also brought four people with her, had one of her assistants take Wayne Payne to the hospital for a check-up. She shot a glance at Melody Monroe, then turned and headed upstairs.
In less than three minutes, only a few people were left in the courtyard.
"Rose Shaw," Felix Hughes asked, "your car was the last to arrive. You probably haven’t eaten yet, right?"
"Not yet," Rose Shaw said, shaking her head. "What about you?"
"I haven’t either. Shall we eat together?"
"Okay," Rose Shaw agreed with a nod.
The kitchen served a few simple, home-style stir-fried dishes.
Keith Coleman looked at Felix Hughes, who was sitting next to Rose Shaw, and suddenly asked, "Director Scott, do you like to drink?"
The moment she heard the word "drink," Rose Shaw shot Keith Coleman a sharp glare.
Melody Monroe glanced between the three of them, sensing that the atmosphere had turned strange.
Winter Kane and Talia Mercer, holding their bowls, looked completely baffled.
"I don’t drink or smoke. Why? Is there a problem, Mr. Coleman?" Felix Hughes had also noticed that there was something different about the way Keith Coleman acted around Rose Shaw.
Still, he was the kind of man Felix couldn’t help but look down on.
But he had seen Keith Coleman beat up Wayne Payne just now, and it had suddenly changed his perception of him.
’This Keith Coleman isn’t what he seems. That fierce look in his eyes earlier held a streak of ruthlessness.’
’When Keith Coleman was with Evan Fairchild, people called him a kept man.’
’It seems he learned to be like the people he followed.’
"Just eat your food and cut the nonsense!" Rose Shaw snapped coldly at Keith Coleman.
"Just making conversation, Rose. Look how tense you are," Keith said, his tone deliberately intimate. "I haven’t said anything out of line. Besides, some things are just secrets between the two of us, not for outsiders to know."
