Chapter 275: You Can Be a Little More Greedy

Melody was a little nervous at first, but as she kept driving, she slowly got the hang of it.

"Where are we going? Back home?" She couldn’t remember the way they came and had no idea which direction to head.

"It’s still early. We’re not going back. Just drive wherever you feel like."

Melody: ...

So she just followed the main road, driving on and on...

There wasn’t much traffic, and she had no idea where she’d ended up.

But this feeling... it was just incredible!

She used to fantasize about this—driving her own car with no destination, just keep going wherever the road took her.

Watching the sun dip below the horizon, until the last of its afterglow faded away.

Finally, Melody pulled over at the shore.

The sun was just setting.

It was so similar to the scene she had once imagined.

It felt like a dream.

In the distance was a patch of reeds and sand. Ian had never been anywhere like this and was buzzing with excitement. The moment he was out of the car, he ran ahead to explore.

Melody leaned against the car, enjoying the cool sea breeze.

Evan Fairchild walked to her side and put an arm around her shoulder.

"How does it feel?"

Melody looked at him and smiled. "I kind of feel like a kept woman. Makes me want to just cling to my sugar daddy’s leg."

Evan Fairchild laughed. "Just cling to my leg?"

"What else?"

"You could be a little greedier."

Melody froze for a second, her heart skipping a beat.

"Mommy!" Ian’s voice called out from the distance. "Mommy, come look!"

Hearing Ian’s call, Melody immediately started walking toward him. She took a deep breath, suppressing the ripples Evan’s words had sent through her heart.

Evan Fairchild looked off into the distance and sighed heavily.

’Why on earth did I bring Ian with us!’

Melody reached Ian’s side and found several duck eggs nestled in a patch of grass!

"Mommy, can we take them home?"

Melody glanced around but didn’t see any ducks. ’In a place this remote, could they be from wild ducks?’

"You can take them. Go on, pick them up."

Ian quickly gathered the eggs, but he couldn’t hold them all in his small hands. "Mommy, can you hold two for me?"

"Of course." Melody took the duck eggs from him.

When Evan Fairchild walked over, he saw the two of them, each holding duck eggs.

"Mr. Fairchild, look what Ian found!"

"Nice. We can have an extra dish for dinner tonight."

"Yeah, it’s getting late. We should head back. I’ll make you two something delicious when we get home."

"Isn’t it hard work, cooking like this every day?" Evan Fairchild asked, recalling the lecture Ian had given him earlier that day.

"Not at all. You two help out as well." Melody immediately shook her head.

She didn’t dare say it, but she loved this kind of life. She had never felt so content and happy as she had recently.

His words from just a moment ago echoed in her mind.

’I want to be a little greedier, too,’ she thought, ’but I have to be good enough for that!’

’How could she dare to be greedy as she was now?’

...

Christopher Sterling had to go abroad for a project he was managing for the Sheffield Family.

Since he wasn’t sure how long he’d be gone, he temporarily left Rose Shaw in charge of the company’s affairs.

Lately, Rose Shaw had been busy preparing for a new drama.

The negotiations were nearly complete, and this time, she would be serving as the producer. All the hard work had taken its toll, and she looked completely drained.

For almost a month, she had been getting only four hours of sleep each night.
