Chapter 138: Monroe Goes to Find His Mom
Rose Shaw nodded. Melody Monroe’s candor left a good impression on her.
Melody Monroe made no attempt to hide anything from Rose Shaw, who she knew was an incredibly astute woman. By now, Rose had surely formed her own judgment.
’I might as well just tell her the truth.’
Rose Shaw hadn’t expected Melody Monroe to be so direct.
She was now even more certain of who had instigated the whole affair.
"Rose, thank you."
Rose Shaw was a little surprised. "Thank me for what?"
"Thank you for guiding my fans and getting the situation under control. You not only cleared my name regarding that previous incident, but you even won over some new fans."
"No, I didn’t do a thing. I had to prioritize, so I dealt with Raymond Ford’s situation first."
"Then what on earth happened?" Melody Monroe was even more stunned. ’Did I really stumble upon such a powerful fanbase?’
"It’s a blessing to have fans who can put themselves in your shoes and think things through for you. And unlike most, they seem to have a good understanding of how this industry works."
Melody Monroe didn’t know how to describe what she was feeling.
’I feel so blessed all of a sudden.’
"I’ve poured a great deal of effort into both you and Raymond Ford, and I don’t want this conflict between you to escalate. I’ve told Raymond Ford the same thing."
"This time, it ends here," Melody Monroe stated her position clearly.
Rose Shaw understood the implication in Melody Monroe’s words.
’It ends this time. But *only* this time.’
’There was something Rose Shaw had been stewing on: the comment she’d heard from Rhona Hughes’s assistant. Considering it in light of this new incident, she wondered if she needed to make some alternative arrangements for Raymond Ford’s work plan.’
’If Raymond Ford was really the way she suspected, she would have absolutely no room for him.’
Suddenly, Melody Monroe’s phone rang.
Melody Monroe pulled out her phone and answered at once.
An anxious voice immediately burst from the phone. "Miss Monroe, Ian’s gone!"
"What did you say?!" Melody Monroe’s voice shot up. The news made her dizzy. "What on earth happened?!"
"This morning, I went to buy groceries after dropping Ian off, but then I got a call from his teacher saying he never showed up at school!"
"You didn’t walk Ian to his classroom?"
"He usually goes in by himself. He won’t let me walk him all the way in."
"Even if he doesn’t let you, you should still watch to make sure he gets inside the school!"
"Miss Monroe, what should I do? Should I call the police?"
"Call the police right now!" Melody Monroe wished she could fly back to Rockwellburg this very instant!
’Where could Ian have gone? Why didn’t he go to school?’
"What’s wrong?" Rose Shaw asked quickly.
"Rose..." Melody Monroe’s voice trembled. "Ian’s missing!"
"Don’t panic," Rose Shaw said comfortingly. "That boy is smarter and more mature than other kids his age. He wouldn’t just leave for no reason."
"I’m going back to Rockwellburg! Right now!" Melody Monroe was desperate to fly back at once.
"Didn’t you get Ian a watch phone?" Rose Shaw reminded her.
A sliver of hope instantly ignited in Melody Monroe’s heart!
She immediately dialed Ian Monroe’s number. The call connected right away.
"Mom," came Ian Monroe’s voice through the phone.
Melody Monroe’s heart had been wound tight, but hearing Ian’s voice, she couldn’t stop the tears from falling. "Sweetheart, where are you right now?"
"I’m on my way to the hospital."
’The hospital?’
’Could he have seen the news about me being hospitalized?’
"Sweetheart, listen to Mom. Right now, I need you to find a safe place with no cars, stand there, and wait quietly."
