After finally confirming a few sales and settling on delivery methods, she brought out the breakfast she had prepared.

Ian Monroe helped carry the bowls and get the chopsticks.

Melody Monroe had just put her phone down when it rang again. She glanced at it and saw, to her surprise, that it was her landlord. ’Rent isn’t due yet, is it?’

"Hello, Miss Monroe."

"Hello, Mr. Preston. Is something the matter?"

"Yes. I’m calling to give you a heads-up that I’m selling the property."

Melody Monroe’s expression stiffened. She had just gotten settled. ’What will I do if I can’t rent this place anymore?’

"But didn’t we sign a two-year lease?"

"Don’t worry, Miss Monroe. Even though I’ve sold the property, I explained the situation to the new owner. He isn’t planning on moving in, so your lease is still valid."

Melody Monroe breathed a quiet sigh of relief.

"I’ll send you the new owner’s number. You should save it so you can contact him easily."

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Preston. By the way, what’s the new owner’s name?"

"I’m not sure of his name. His representative handled all the paperwork. I only have a phone number for him."

"In that case, please send me the number."

"Okay."

A minute later, a number arrived on Melody Monroe’s phone. She saved it immediately, labeling the contact "Landlord 2."

"Mommy, are we going to move again?"

"We don’t have to." Melody Monroe stroked Ian’s small face. "Let’s eat breakfast."

"Mommy, when I grow up, I’m going to earn lots and lots of money and buy a big, beautiful house for you to live in!"

Melody Monroe’s heart ached, but the moment she heard Ian say that, the sadness melted away.

Even if she had nothing else, she still had Ian.

This child had become an indispensable part of her life.

"Mhm!" She nodded emphatically. ’I’ll work hard to make money, too,’ she vowed to herself. ’I’ll buy a big, beautiful house for Ian!’

After breakfast, Melody Monroe hurried to pack her things. She spent the whole morning getting everything organized and posted the items she intended to sell online.

To her pleasant surprise, the same person who had bought clothes from her before saw her new listings for more clothes, shoes, and bags, and placed several more orders.

The meeting was set for three in the afternoon. At two o’clock, Melody Monroe finished packing the five articles of clothing, three pairs of shoes, and two bags the buyer wanted. Grabbing the jewelry as well, she headed out with Ian.

The clothes and shoes would fetch around 70,000, and the jewelry was worth a little over 50,000.

She didn’t know if they would try to haggle over the price of the jewelry, but she had no choice. The items were useless to her; only money was practical.

The money from these sales, combined with her existing savings, would bring her total to over 200,000.

If she was frugal, she could ensure Ian wouldn’t have to suffer too much, even if she had no decent income for a year.

Melody Monroe felt a great sense of relief.

Evan Fairchild watched the two figures from afar. He saw that Melody Monroe was carrying a large bag on her back.

’This woman!’

’The apartment was just sold; I didn’t tell her to move out. What is she doing with such a huge bag?’

Melody Monroe hailed a cab and got in with Ian.

Evan Fairchild immediately started his car and followed.

The meeting spot Melody had chosen was on the ground floor of a shopping mall. The buyer was a pretty young woman, and she had brought a close friend with her.

As usual, Melody Monroe wore a face mask and sunglasses, making it nearly impossible to see her face.

The two young women inspected the items and transferred the money to Melody Monroe’s account right then and there.
