Chapter 136: As Expected of a Mastermind

Melody Monroe took the phone and scrolled for a while. It was just as Talia Mercer had said.

A seed of doubt grew in her mind.

The day she was discharged from the hospital after she transmigrated, only a small portion of the people waiting outside were actual fans. The rest had been arranged by Rose Shaw.

Rose Shaw’s plan was to avoid overexposing her, so she hadn’t put much effort into managing her fanbase yet.

She herself hadn’t posted anything on Weibo this whole time either.

’I wonder if Rose Shaw was involved in what happened today?’

She had no idea what Rose Shaw thought about her public spat with Raymond Ford.

’But if Rose Shaw didn’t do it, who else would go to such lengths to defend me?’

She found it hard to believe so many fans would defend her so fervently. Besides, all their comments were remarkably rational, winning her a lot of goodwill from the public.

It wasn’t that she lacked confidence and was questioning herself.

Everyone is human, unique in this world. Why would anyone unconditionally like you, support you, and champion you?

She felt that, as she was now, she hadn’t yet earned that right!

Melody Monroe handed the phone back to Talia Mercer. "Let’s just keep an eye on how things develop for now."

"Okay!" Talia Mercer nodded.

...

Keith Coleman was lounging on the sofa with his legs crossed, playing on his phone.

Tommy walked over and sat across from him, looking anxious. "kaen, Miss Monroe ended up in the hospital! The Boss is worried sick, and you’re just sitting here taking it easy?"

"I’m not taking it easy. I’ve already done everything I was supposed to do."

"And that’s it?"

"Yeah. What else did you expect?" Keith Coleman retorted with a smile.

"I think you’re itching for a beating!" Tommy thought they should have at least launched a major counterattack. Just digging up that one incident? A petty move like that wasn’t worthy of Keith’s reputation as a master strategist; it was practically tarnishing his own brand.

"My dear Tommy, this is where you show your amateur side! Since President Fairchild entrusted such an important matter to me, it means he has complete faith in all my arrangements. You strike a snake where it’s vulnerable. Even if it’s not a fatal blow, it will still be a serious injury! We have Raymond Ford right in the palm of our hand, so what’s the rush?"

"If he’s in the palm of our hand, why not finish him off in one move!"

Keith Coleman gave him a look like he was staring at an idiot.

"Okay, my mistake. I shouldn’t have questioned you," Tommy said immediately.

"Seeing as you have such a proper attitude now, I’ll let you in on my plan."

"Let’s hear it."

"This drama, *Warm Wind*, isn’t it Mrs. Fairchild’s debut role?"

"Yeah." Tommy nodded.

"From what I understand, this production has been a mess from the very beginning, starting with casting. The fights over roles really soured public opinion. On top of that, there was recasting, adding scenes, and changing the script, which alienated fans of the original novel... All I can say is, those were some wild moves."

"I’ve also looked into the domestic market. The show’s genre is a bit niche, so it’s a big risk. I know the director, Director Wallace; he’s a real heavyweight. And Zane Langdon is arguably the hottest A-list star in the country right now, bar none. The collaboration between those two is the biggest factor that could make this show a hit."

Tommy still didn’t understand what any of this had to do with Raymond Ford. But Keith Coleman sounded like a true professional when he spoke.

"Even with all those issues, I’m still very optimistic about this show. If the show blows up, the actors naturally will too! And our Mrs. Fairchild can skyrocket to fame with this one drama!"

"Why would I be in a hurry to make a move on Raymond Ford? We let him finish filming this drama steadily. After the show becomes a hit, that’s when Raymond Ford’s real value comes into play—as the perfect stepping stone for Mrs. Fairchild."

It dawned on Tommy!

"You really are a master strategist." He gave Keith Coleman a thumbs-up.
