Chapter 298: Look Your Fill
"The results will be out tomorrow."
"It’s not going to be a long series of shots, is it?" Melody Monroe was scared just thinking about it.
"If you really do need shots, I’ll be there with you."
Melody Monroe blushed.
Just a moment ago, when she was getting her blood drawn, she had been a little scared. Evan Fairchild had actually walked over, pressed her head to his chest, and gently patted her back.
Just like comforting a small child.
Thinking back on that gesture now, her heartstrings were still trembling softly.
"I’ll take you to see the house in Jansburg."
"Okay." Melody Monroe nodded.
Less than forty minutes later, Evan Fairchild pulled up and parked in a high-end villa district.
Melody Monroe got out of the car and surveyed her surroundings. The next building was a great distance away, making it exceptionally private.
"I just wanted to show you the way today. It’s still being renovated inside, so we won’t go in."
"Mm-hmm." Melody Monroe nodded.
"Where else would you like to go?"
Melody Monroe looked up at him. "Aren’t you busy?"
"I arranged all my work before I came."
Melody Monroe froze. She’d assumed he was in Jansburg on business, but hearing him say that... ’Did he come to Jansburg just to see me?’
"Let’s go back to the hotel," Melody Monroe said, still afraid of being photographed if they wandered around outside.
"Mm-hmm." Evan Fairchild nodded.
As the car drove slowly down the wide, empty road, Evan Fairchild turned on a song.
The moment she heard the melody, Melody Monroe froze.
’Isn’t this the song I sang yesterday?’
’It can’t be a coincidence that Evan Fairchild also has this song, can it?’
When the first line of lyrics played, Melody Monroe was even more stunned.
The voice coming from the speakers was her own! It was the song she had sung last night.
Melody Monroe glanced up at him.
He was focused on driving, and just the sight of his profile was enough to make her heart race wildly.
’He’s never said he likes me, but everything he does makes me feel his affection. Does he like me, even just a little?’
Evan Fairchild sensed her sneaking glances at him. When Melody Monroe finally looked away, the faintest hint of a smile touched his lips.
Back at the hotel, Melody Monroe had just stepped into the room when she felt a sudden pressure from behind.
He spun her around and lifted her chin.
"If you want to look at me, you can do it openly."
"I... I wasn’t sneaking glances at you."
"You weren’t?" Evan Fairchild asked with a smile.
"I wasn’t!" Melody Monroe immediately denied it, but she didn’t dare meet his eyes, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Kiss me!"
Melody Monroe blinked, her eyes wide with shock and panic.
Her mind went completely blank. She pressed her lips together, not daring to move.
Evan Fairchild was very patient, slowly leaning a little closer to her.
Melody Monroe immediately recoiled, but her back was against the wall, leaving her no room to retreat.
Evan Fairchild moved closer still.
Nervously, Melody Monroe’s hands shot out and grabbed his shirt, twisting the fabric tightly in her fist.
He couldn’t get any closer without touching her. She was at the point where she only had to move forward a single millimeter to touch him.
Melody Monroe closed her eyes and leaned forward a fraction of an inch!
Soft, fragrant, and indescribably wonderful.
He only gave her a second before seizing the initiative!
She must like him, even if it was just a little bit.
Evan Fairchild believed that even feelings could accumulate, starting from a little and growing into a lot.
...
Rose Shaw hadn’t been idle. She called several more directors, but the result was the same every time.
’Could it be that the one trying to blacklist Melody Monroe is Evan Fairchild?’
