Suddenly, he stopped, pinching the business card in his hand. He studied it carefully, his brow slightly furrowed, as if he couldn’t figure something out.

"Dr. White, please hurry. Mr. Fairchild is extremely anxious."

"Was it really Evan Fairchild who sent you to get me?"

"Yes!" The attendant nodded hastily.

"If it’s not Evan Fairchild, I’m sure you know the consequences of deceiving me. I’m afraid even your master wouldn’t be able to bear the fallout!"

Everyone knew Caleb White was eccentric by nature.

His skills were miraculous, said to be able to bring the dead back to life.

Who would dare offend him?

People were falling over themselves to curry his favor!

Caleb White put the card away, deciding he was overthinking things.

’Even if someone dared to deceive him into making a house call, they would never have the guts to impersonate Evan Fairchild.’

It was just...

’Evan Fairchild was actually out on the town? And with a female companion, no less.’

’And his date was having an allergic reaction to alcohol?’

’That was a lot to process.’

As Caleb White entered the room, the attendant immediately ushered him toward a small private booth.

The scene inside made his gaze freeze. He quickly took off his glasses. He could see much more clearly without them!

Hearing the footsteps, Evan Fairchild slowly released Melody Monroe.

Caleb White calmly put his glasses back on, pretending he hadn’t seen a thing.

Evan Fairchild kept hold of Melody Monroe’s hand. Seeing Caleb White just standing there, motionless, he immediately snapped, "What are you standing there for?"

"I was afraid of interrupting," Caleb White said with a smile, revealing two faint dimples.

"Get over here!" Evan Fairchild was in an extremely foul mood.

Caleb White pouted.

Hearing him shout "Get over here!" was actually a relief.

’Just a moment ago, he’d almost thought Evan Fairchild had been possessed. The Mr. Fairchild who famously kept his distance from women was acting so... wolfish! But sure enough, that temper... classic Evan, through and through!’

"Melody Monroe?!" Caleb White was stunned to see his patient.

"You know her?"

"Duh, she’s a celebrity. Who doesn’t know her? I’m a fan."

Evan Fairchild: ...

Caleb White placed his hand on Melody Monroe’s wrist. "How did she get this drunk?"

"Can you really tell how drunk she is just by taking her pulse?" Evan Fairchild shot back.

"Duh. I’m not blind; I can tell that just by looking at her. I’m checking to see if she’s pregnant."

"Caleb White, you’d better take this seriously!"

"Duh! How am I not being serious? Mr. Fairchild, this is part of my professional duty! If she’s pregnant, we can’t use just any medication! A man has to take responsibility."

Evan Fairchild: ...

Caleb White let go of her wrist and opened his medical kit on the table. He took out a few glass ampules, snapped their tops off, and mixed the contents.

"It’s an allergic reaction to alcohol. Nothing too serious. One shot and she’ll be fine in an hour or two."

"How do I make her more comfortable?"

"That method you were using just now seemed to be working pretty well, Mr. Fairchild!"

"Caleb!"

"See? The truth hurts. But you were enjoying yourself, weren’t you?"

"Just give her the shot!"

Caleb White, syringe in hand, walked toward Melody Monroe.

Suddenly, a little boy burst in and shoved Caleb White aside! The syringe in Caleb’s hand spun rapidly, and he only just managed to avoid accidentally injuring Evan Fairchild, who was standing closest.

Holding the syringe, he stared at the child who had just appeared out of nowhere.

"Don’t you dare hurt my mommy!" Ian Monroe stood protectively in front of the bed, glaring angrily at Caleb White.

But when he saw that Caleb White was dressed as a doctor and holding a syringe, his gaze immediately snapped to Evan Fairchild, sharp and accusing.

"Mr. Fairchild, my mommy was fine when she fell asleep. What did you do to her?"

"Probably did something unspeakable," Caleb White chimed in.

Evan Fairchild shot him a death glare. Caleb White just shrugged, unconcerned.

"Ian Monroe, get out of the way! Your mother is having an allergic reaction to alcohol. She needs this shot right now."
