Janelle turned her gaze towards him, and saw his eyes full of tenderness, always giving her a sense of security.

"Alright, let’s make a pinky promise!" she said, tilting her head and extending her finger towards him.

Around them, couples were leaving one by one.

In the midst of the noisy crowd, Trevor’s heart and eyes were only for her. He stood firmly in front of her and cooperatively stretched out his finger, hooking hers.

As the distinguished head of The Dalton Group, Trevor did not find the act of making a pinky promise childish at all; instead, he was very willing to join in her playful antics.

"Pinky promise, pinky promise, a hundred years without change!"

"Alright, alright, no change."

After making the promise, Trevor wrapped his arm around her shoulder, "Let’s go." He then took her steps outwards, "There’s only twenty minutes left until the new year, I’m taking you somewhere."

"Okay!"

As long as she was with him, she was more than happy, there was no need to ask where they were going.

In Janelle’s view, walking hand in hand down the street with Trevor was the ultimate romantic experience, and she was very willing to enjoy it.

Trevor drove for fifteen minutes, taking her to a nature park.

As soon as the car came to a stop, he eagerly said to her, "Quick, get out of the car."

"Okay." Janelle quickly unbuckled her seatbelt.

After getting out of the car, Trevor immediately took her hand and ran forward, clearly in a hurry.

Janelle had never been here before; the street lamps emitted a warm yellow glow, and as the two ran, she saw a hill not far ahead.

Sure enough, Trevor led her up the steps to the hill.

She still didn’t ask anything, trying her best to keep up with him as they climbed.

"Be careful, don’t step in the wrong place." Trevor glanced at the time, making sure she was safe.

They quickly reached the top of the hill, and when they looked down from the plateau, there was a sense of openness because the hill had a considerable height.

The park was vast, seemingly allowing them to see the aquamarine water of the river not far away.

The two continued to hold hands tightly, breathless, smiling and gazing at each other.

"Bang!"

They turned their gaze at the sound, and not far away, a purple firework bloomed in the sky, its dazzling light illuminating the entire night sky.

"Bang! Bang!"

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Beautiful fireworks blossomed one after another, in various colors and shapes—a visual feast that was breathtaking.

The new year’s bell had already sounded!

"Happy New Year, Janelle." Trevor gently held her shoulder, "May everything go smoothly for you in the new year."

"Thank you." Janelle looked up at him, her beautiful eyes flashing with a captivating brilliance, "Happy New Year, Trevor!"

Trevor smiled warmly, his handsome face even making the fireworks pale in comparison.

He gently brushed a strand of long hair that had drifted to her cheek, growing more enamored with her, unable to resist softly kissing her tender pink lips.

The fireworks scattered, and the radiant light shone upon their faces...

The moment the clock turned, inside the small villa among the residential complex.

The living room was still brightly lit.

Nathan Mills still sat on the sofa, holding Carlotta’s hand and unwilling to let go for even a second.

They also heard the sound of fireworks, but continued to gaze at each other.

The wall clock had already passed midnight.

"Happy New Year, Carlotta." Old Mills smiled, offering his heartfelt wishes, and took out a red envelope from his pocket and handed it to her, with three words printed on it—’Lucky Money.’

"For me?" Carlotta looked at the offered red envelope, genuinely surprised.

"Yes, just a small gesture, I hope you’ll accept it." Without waiting for her refusal, and without waiting for her to take it, he directly placed the red envelope into her hand.

As soon as Carlotta’s fingers touched the envelope, she realized something was amiss—there wasn’t money inside at all.
