With the King’s permission, the royal physician hesitated repeatedly and played some small tricks to create a mysterious atmosphere.

The King couldn’t help but worry, glancing at him, "What’s wrong? Since you’re here, aren’t you going to tell me?"

"King, Prince Louis hit Prince Taylor." The royal physician looked heavy-hearted and sighed, "And he hit him quite badly—his face is bruised and swollen to the point he can’t be seen by others."

The King stopped in his tracks, looking at him with a hint of disbelief.

The royal physician also stopped, two middle-aged men meeting eyes, yet the physician couldn’t quite grasp the King’s thoughts at the moment, only knowing that he had successfully complained.

After a few seconds of silence, the King asked him, "What was the reason?"

This calm tone surprised the royal physician; it was clear that the King was unaware of the matter beforehand.

"I asked you what the reason was?" The King repeated, though his tone was calm, there was a bit of urgency within him, "Don’t hesitate, just say it."

The royal physician hastily gathered his thoughts, "I... I also don’t know."

"Why complain if you don’t know?" The King perceived him, seemingly reading the physician’s mind in an instant.

The word ’complain’ left the royal physician feeling somewhat guilty and instantly slightly embarrassed.

Because complaining is something only a three-year-old would do.

The King glanced at him, his eyes collected, and he continued walking forward.

The royal physician followed closely, his head bowed, slightly hunched, feeling somewhat ashamed alongside him.

Then the subject was dropped, the King no longer brought it up, and the royal physician didn’t dare to complain further.

But within the King’s heart, he was filled with worry and concern for Taylor, while he was also sure that this incident must have had a reason.

Louis, this child, knows right from wrong, understands reason, and considers the bigger picture.

Getting beaten must be Taylor’s own fault, otherwise Catherine would not have stood by watching her son get hurt. She hasn’t come to complain yet.

Until the royal physician, filled with anxiety, accompanied the King for a long walk, not paying attention to the roadside scenery, he realized a fact today —

That is, in the King’s heart, Prince Louis’s status far exceeds that of Prince Taylor, so the throne must be secure, this will not change.

The royal physician thought to himself, he mustn’t offend Prince Louis in the future, or how could he continue to mix in with the royal family?

The two strolled around the garden, heading back, nearly reaching the palace, when the King spoke, "Go treat Taylor, ensure no after-effects are left."

"Yes." The royal physician bowed respectfully, reporting, "I went to treat him; recovery may take a long time, though it’s not life-threatening, it’s hurt muscles and bones."

"Hmm." The King said no more.

In the evening, Ian Shelby arrived at the King’s palace; the father and son had already agreed to dine together today.

In the magnificent dining room, Ian and his father sat across the table.

Waiters with exquisite bow ties queued up to present tonight’s dishes one by one: two glasses of fruit soup, chocolate pie, Dubonnet wine, turbot fillet, venison, served with lobster mousse... along with rice.

Though it was just the two of them, the dishes were nutritious and plentiful.

"When do you plan to marry Jocelyn?"

The King wore a smile, picking up the wine bottle to pour himself, looking expectantly at the handsome man sitting across.

The matter raised by the royal physician seemed unheard of by the King; he wouldn’t bring it up here nor ask for its cause.
