Chapter 737 - 738: Truly Clear
"Of course, I understand that money is a good thing. However, to abandon everything for it... people like you really don’t need to exist," Lin Kuang said coolly.
"I don’t need to exist? I think you’re the one who doesn’t need to exist! Lin Kuang, do you realize this is all your fault? You should have come with me to the Warner Capital Hotel. If you had, I wouldn’t have needed to kill you, and I wouldn’t have been exposed. But now I am exposed and have to go into hiding! If it weren’t for you, I could have spent my money freely out in the open. This is all your fault!" Song Yao yelled, her entire demeanor becoming unhinged.
"Song Yao, you’ve gone mad! Have you forgotten who gave you your big break? It was Shilin! She’s the one who helped you climb step by step to where you are now, even making you president of the American branch! And now, for a mere fifty million, you’ve betrayed her. How could you possibly face her?!" Lin Guo’er couldn’t help but shout, watching Song Yao descend into madness.
Upon hearing this, Song Yao froze. A flicker of struggle crossed her beautiful eyes, but it was quickly extinguished by greed.
"So what? I’ve contributed a great deal to the company over the years. Consider this me cashing in on all that credit," Song Yao sneered.
Seeing this, Lin Guo’er trembled with rage and opened her mouth to speak again, but Lin Kuang stopped her with a hand.
"Alright, there’s no need to say any more to someone like this. Just kill her," Lin Kuang said flatly.
"Kill me? With what? Don’t forget, I’m the one pointing a gun at your head! With a slight pull of the trigger, I’ll put a hole in your skull, and you’ll be dead!" Song Yao retorted with a cold laugh.
"Long hair, short on sense. You truly are ignorant. If I were so easy to kill, don’t you think the Fan Family would have dealt with me long ago? Would they really have gone to all this trouble to lure me to New York and use you to bring me to the Warner Capital Hotel?" Lin Kuang said mockingly, his eyes filled with pity for the pathetic woman before him.
Hearing his words, Song Yao’s expression faltered. He was right. Still, could a bullet really not kill the man in front of her?
"Then let me see if you really have a head of steel! We’ll see if this bullet can pierce your skull!" With that, Song Yao yanked the trigger.
"No!" Lin Guo’er screamed, her pretty face instantly turning deathly pale, as if drained of all blood.
Lin Kuang, however, remained as calm as ever. To him, a bullet could be a threat, but this woman was not.
The very instant Song Yao pulled the trigger, Lin Kuang’s hand shot out like lightning and gripped her wrist. The next moment, he twisted her hand, aiming the gun directly at her own temple.
BANG! The bullet pierced her skull. Song Yao’s eyes were wide as she stared at Lin Kuang, unable to believe, even in death, that he had been the one to kill her.
"People like her deserve to die," Lin Kuang said, his tone full of disgust.
"Are you... Are you okay?" Lin Guo’er finally asked, her beautiful eyes filled with worry.
"Hm? I’m fine, I’m fine. How could anything happen to me?" Lin Kuang said with a broad smile.
"You bastard! You scared me to death!" Lin Guo’er cried out, her face a wreck as she threw herself into his arms and held on tightly.
"There, there. It’s alright. See? I’m perfectly fine. Be good, my darling Guo’er," Lin Kuang said with a gentle smile, softly patting her shoulder.
"You’re just a bastard," Lin Guo’er mumbled into his chest.
"Alright, I’m a bastard. In that case, shouldn’t this bastard’s wife get up now?" Lin Kuang said with a laugh.
"You’re the bastard’s wife!" Lin Guo’er retorted irritably, pulling away from his embrace.
"Exactly. I’m the bastard, and you’re my wife. Doesn’t that make you the bastard’s wife?" Lin Kuang teased, seeing the lingering tears at the corners of her eyes.
"I am not! Anyway... what do we do now?" Lin Guo’er asked, glancing fearfully at Song Yao’s body.
"It’s fine. What’s there to be afraid of when I’m here? Don’t worry, I’ll handle everything. Let’s get out of the car first," Lin Kuang said with a reassuring smile.
Nodding, Lin Guo’er stepped out of the car.
Lin Kuang shifted to get out himself, but at that moment, Song Yao’s phone began to ring. Struck by a thought, he paused and pulled the phone from her purse.
After glancing at the caller ID, he couldn’t help but sneer. John, is it? Looks like you’re getting impatient. With that, he answered the call.
"Song Yao, where are you? Why aren’t you here yet?" John asked, frowning. They had been set up at the Warner Capital Hotel for a long time, but Lin Kuang still hadn’t appeared. Naturally, John was getting anxious.
Hearing John’s voice, Lin Kuang paused for a moment before sneering, "Oh, so it’s you. You’re John!"
Someone had called him before, telling him to prepare a coffin. At the time, Lin Kuang didn’t know who it was, only that they were from the Fan Family. Now, hearing that familiar voice, he instantly realized the caller had been John.
Hearing Lin Kuang’s voice on the other end, John faltered. "You... You’re Lin Kuang?"
"That’s right, it’s me. Been waiting long at the Warner Capital Hotel? I’m terribly sorry. Something came up along the way, so it looks like I won’t be able to make it today. Such a waste of the warm welcome you prepared for me," Lin Kuang said, shaking his head with an air of helplessness.
Hearing this, John’s face turned ugly. It didn’t take a genius to know their plan had been exposed.
"Damn it! Did that bitch Song Yao tell you?" John roared in fury.
"She did. And then I killed her. Her body is still right here with me. Care for a look?" Lin Kuang asked with a light laugh.
"Damn you! Damn you! How did you find out? You actually killed her?!" John screamed, his voice turning hoarse with rage.
"How did I find out? I have my ways. No need to ask, because I wouldn’t tell you anyway. And yes, I killed her. What’s the matter? Heartbroken? Were you two having an affair or something?" Lin Kuang asked with a grin.
