Chapter 739 - 740: The Cannon Fodder is Too Weak
"Alright, everyone head to the Karen Hotel! No matter the cost, Lin Kuang must be killed!" John roared into the communicator, and the car sped off.
"Seniors, you three are our main force. I must ask you to give it your all," John said respectfully, looking at the three men across from him.
After all, these three were masters sent by the Fan Family. This time, the family had truly spared no expense, even dispatching experts at the Three Flowers Gathering at the Top level. The entire Fan Family only had a handful of experts at this level, and they had spent an unknown amount of resources to cultivate each one. As such, every single one of them was a monumental asset to the Fan Family.
"Rest assured, Lin Kuang won’t escape this time. He is bound to die," Fang Guangwang declared, his calm tone laced with immense confidence. He was, after all, a master of the Three Flowers Gathering at the Top, while Lin Kuang was merely at the Skyline level. In his eyes, Lin Kuang was insignificant.
"Good. With your words, Mr. Fang, I am relieved," John said hastily.
At that moment, a large contingent of their forces had already arrived at the Karen Hotel.
John’s plan was simple: first, use ordinary fighters to surround Lin Kuang. It would be best if they managed to kill him. If not, they could at least wear him down before Fang Guangwang and the other two made their move. To John, these ordinary fighters were merely cannon fodder; he didn’t care if they died. The real treasures were masters like Fang Guangwang, who had reached the Three Flowers Gathering at the Top.
Meanwhile, Lin Kuang glanced at the time, bored. Why haven’t the Fan Family’s people shown up yet? Did they really fail to find me? The thought left him quite frustrated.
But just as he was pondering this, a series of harsh screeches rose from downstairs.
A jolt went through Lin Kuang. He quickly got up and looked out the window, watching as men continuously poured out of more than a dozen vehicles. His eyes locked onto the last few to emerge.
Experts at the Three Flowers Gathering at the Top level, huh? Tsk tsk, it took you long enough. Still, you’re not too late. Your timing is perfect. Lin Kuang thought with a smirk, then turned and left his room.
"Stairs, elevators, everyone move! Leave ten men downstairs to stand guard! The rest of you, go up!" John commanded as soon as he strode into the Karen Hotel.
Seeing so many people charge in, the hotel staff naturally wouldn’t stand by idly. Someone came forward to ask what was happening. The overbearing John completely ignored them. He simply pulled out his gun and fired a burst toward the ceiling, sending the terrified staff screaming and crouching on the floor.
"What are you standing around for? Move!" John roared when he saw his men hesitating.
At his command, the group swarmed upwards, some taking the stairs and others crowding into the elevators.
Lin Kuang was on the eighth floor, not very high up. He now stood with a submachine gun in each hand, the muzzles aimed at the elevator bank and the stairwell entrance. Anyone who came up would be met with his ruthless gunfire.
Mere seconds later, the doors to both elevators slid open simultaneously.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang sneered, "Cannon fodder, nice to see you!" With that, his submachine guns roared to life.
RAT-A-TAT-TAT!
RAT-A-TAT-TAT!
A volley of gunfire shattered the quiet of the corridor. The bullets from the two guns transformed into a pair of Fire Snakes, reaping the lives of his enemies. With Lin Kuang’s uncanny marksmanship, the men had no chance to dodge. In just a few seconds, he had effortlessly eliminated the twenty-odd men who came up in the elevators. The gap between them was simply too vast. In his eyes, they were like children, utterly incapable of fighting back.
"Cannon fodder is just cannon fodder. No fighting strength at all," Lin Kuang said, somewhat displeased.
Looks like I’ll have to go down and meet those three. Cleaning up this cannon fodder is getting really boring. With that thought, Lin Kuang turned and ran down the stairs.
He immediately came face-to-face with more of John’s men. Although they were on high alert, in Lin Kuang’s eyes, it made no difference whatsoever. His two submachine guns once again opened fire, the muzzles spitting out Fire Snakes that harvested the men’s lives. They were powerless before him, making the one-sided battle incredibly dull for Lin Kuang.
After dispatching them, Lin Kuang calmly arrived on the first floor. John, Fang Guangwang, and the two other Skyline experts from the Fan Family were all waiting there.
"I have to say, even if you send cannon fodder, couldn’t you have sent some less pathetic ones? Or are all of the Fan Family’s people this weak?" Lin Kuang asked, looking at the group with a helpless expression.
John’s jaw dropped. "They’re... all dead?" he asked in disbelief.
"What do you think? You sent them up as cannon fodder for me, didn’t you? Wouldn’t it be disrespectful of me if I didn’t kill them?" Lin Kuang replied with a sly smile.
Hearing this, John’s expression turned ugly. Only now did he truly understand how powerful a Skyline expert could be.
"I told you not to bother sending your men. They were just coming here to die, but you wouldn’t believe me," Fang Guangwang said indifferently.
John remained silent. There was no point in saying anything now; his men were already dead. Though they were cannon fodder, in the secular world, they were considered decent fighters. Their swift demise had left John profoundly shaken.
"So, you’re the Fan Family’s experts, eh? Let me see how strong you really are. First, have a taste of my bullets," Lin Kuang said with a grin. He then unleashed a wild spray from his submachine guns toward Fang Guangwang, John, and the others.
Though he was spraying wildly, his aim was deceptively accurate. He wasn’t just firing blindly. He fired at the exact moment his opponents began to dodge, frustrating the three masters and making them feel constrained at every turn.
This was especially true for Fang Guangwang, who was still dragging John along. With John in tow, dodging became quite strenuous. He had to protect the man, which prevented him from moving freely.
RAT-A-TAT-TAT!
Another hail of bullets shot out, aimed directly at Fang Guangwang’s head and other vital spots.
His expression flickered. Although bullets posed little threat to someone of his strength, he didn’t want to get injured before his fight with Lin Kuang began. So, Fang Guangwang gritted his teeth and shoved John in front of him as a shield.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
A series of bullets slammed into John’s chest and head. He died instantly without so much as a grunt.
"Tsk tsk, the Fan Family’s experts are so humane, using a comrade to block bullets. Impressive, very impressive," Lin Kuang said with a smirk, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
