Chapter 275: Damian Runs Out of Bullshit
Damian’s mind spun rapidly.
For one dangerous moment, he almost blurted out some stupid bullshit about dreams, destiny, or divine intuition.
Thankfully, his survival instinct slapped him awake before any of those words could leave his mouth.
Damian coughed once and quickly adjusted his expression. "Master, it’s like this."
Selvara stared at him silently.
Her sharp gaze made it painfully obvious that she was waiting for an actual explanation, not one of Damian’s usual piles of nonsense.
Violetta also turned toward him with visible curiosity.
Damian leaned forward slightly. "Actually, Violetta worked with the [Night Fragrance Pavilion] during her earlier years as a courtesan."
Violetta’s expression shifted faintly.
She did not deny it. There was nothing to deny in the first place.
Damian continued, "And with Nolan’s recent dirty secrets being exposed..."
He glanced toward Violetta. "Especially since Violetta deliberately included their past love mark in what was spread..."
Violetta’s fingers tightened slightly against her robes.
Damian scratched the side of his head and gave an awkward grin. "I figured there was a decent chance Nolan would connect everything back to them."
Selvara remained silent.
Damian continued explaining, "Considering the past relationship between Violetta and the [Night Fragrance Pavilion], Nolan could easily assume they were involved in ruining his reputation."
He spread his hands. "And that bastard doesn’t exactly seem mentally stable lately."
Violetta’s gaze lowered slightly.
Damian immediately noticed.
His voice softened. "I’m not saying any of this to blame you."
Violetta looked toward him.
Damian gave her a reassuring smile. "That bastard Nolan is the problem."
The tension in Violetta’s expression eased slightly.
Damian then turned back toward Selvara. "Besides, if I’m being completely honest..."
His expression became strangely casual. "I’m actually thankful Nolan destroyed that group."
Selvara’s eyes shifted slightly.
Damian gave a dry laugh. "You remember them, right, Master?"
He pointed toward himself. "Back when you first saved me in that town."
Selvara’s expression changed faintly.
Of course she remembered.
That was the very incident that had ultimately resulted in Damian becoming her disciple.
At the time, Selvara’s unique token had suddenly been activated.
The one who activated it was Damian.
More importantly, the token had been triggered while an elder from the [Night Fragrance Pavilion] was targeting Damian for his wealth and treasures.
Selvara had arrived shortly afterward.
Because Damian possessed her token, she had not wasted much time questioning him.
Instead, she had directly killed the people threatening him and eventually accepted Damian as her disciple.
Damian shrugged. "So I already knew the [Night Fragrance Pavilion] wasn’t exactly friendly toward me."
His lips curved slightly. "Once I knew Nolan had obtained that King Grade sword, combined with his hatred over Violetta exposing all his dirty secrets..."
Damian tapped one finger against his temple. "I figured there was a reasonable chance he would go after the faction he believed helped her."
He looked directly at Selvara. "It seems I guessed correctly."
The room fell quiet.
Selvara watched him for several breaths.
Her eyes moved across his face as though searching for some crack in the explanation.
Eventually, she leaned back slightly. "I see."
Her voice remained calm, although the way she looked at Damian had clearly become more evaluating than before. "You’re quite impressive, aren’t you?"
Damian’s face immediately brightened. "Hehehe... Master finally noticed?"
He proudly lifted his chin. "After all, I am the chosen one."
Selvara’s expression instantly became flat.
Damian’s grin froze.
He coughed awkwardly. "Right. Forget that part."
Selvara tapped one finger against the table. "Since you managed to predict this much, tell me something else."
Damian blinked. "Tell you what?"
Selvara’s eyes sharpened. "What do we do now?"
Damian paused.
Selvara continued calmly, "You’re apparently smart enough to predict Nolan’s movements."
Her lips moved faintly. "So surely you must have some idea what comes next... chosen one."
Damian’s eyebrow twitched.
Beside him, Violetta quietly turned toward Damian as well.
Her gentle expression had become serious.
Neither woman spoke.
They simply waited.
Damian opened his mouth. Then stopped.
For once, no shameless bullshit immediately came out.
Selvara was not some ordinary woman he could fool by throwing out a few confident words and hoping they sounded clever.
Worse, Damian actually knew far more than he was supposed to know because of Violetta’s Destiny Story.
He slowly leaned back in his seat. His expression became unusually serious.
"Shit..."
Damian rubbed his chin.
"What the hell should I tell them?"
---
Damian remained silent for several breaths before finally tapping one finger against the table. "Alright."
Selvara and Violetta both focused on him.
Damian’s expression became serious. "Everything happening right now is basically because of that bastard Nolan, right?"
Selvara gave a faint nod.
Damian continued, "He hates me, he hates Violetta, and Sect Master Arven keeps protecting him because he’s his precious direct disciple with a King Grade Sword."
Damian spread his hands. "The problem is that we’re all technically part of the same sect."
Selvara’s gaze sharpened slightly.
Damian frowningly said, "We can’t just openly gather people and start a fucking civil war inside the Heavenly Sword Sect."
Violetta slowly nodded.
Damian leaned forward. "So if we can’t move freely ourselves, the simplest solution is finding someone outside the sect who can help deal with Nolan."
Selvara immediately understood. "You mean forming ties with another righteous faction?"
Her eyes shifted slightly. "A faction like the Heavenly Palace, perhaps?"
Damian quickly shook his head. "No, no."
Selvara frowned.
Damian’s lips slowly curved upward. "I’m thinking of the other side."
The room became quiet.
Selvara stared at him.
Damian continued calmly, "The demonic side."
The moment those words left Damian’s mouth, Selvara’s expression visibly darkened.
Her eyes sharpened, and a faint trace of killing intent immediately leaked into the room. "Damian."
Her voice was dangerously cold. "What the hell do you mean by involving the demonic side?"
Even Violetta looked noticeably surprised.
She had never expected her master to even suggest cooperating with demonic cultivators, especially directly in front of Selvara.
Damian swallowed as Selvara’s stare became increasingly oppressive.
"Yep... definitely should’ve phrased that fucking better."
